The day had started out strange, they were both in the wrong part of town again. Lynelle crossed her arms over her chest, her brow furrowed as she shot Rhiannon a look.

"You know, maybe it's time you finally buy glasses," she said, nodding toward a neon sign flashing too brightly in the distance. Rhiannon just rolled her eyes, but Lynelle could see the faint hint of annoyance in her posture.

"Just because you’re the mechanic doesn’t mean you’re always right," Rhiannon shot back, smirking. She tugged at her jacket, brushing past Lynelle, looking out at the busy street.

The sound of distant sirens cut through the air, and both women tensed for a second before the moment passed. It wasn’t the first time they’d gotten caught in the wrong place, but together, they always found a way out.

Lynelle watched Rhiannon, her protector instincts kicking in.

"Just stay close," she muttered, moving to flank her partner.
