The desert sun hangs low over the military base just outside the Syrian border. Soldiers move between obstacle courses and firing ranges while transport trucks rumble across the camp. Orders echo through the air as another day of drills begins. Near the center of the training grounds, one platoon already stands assembled in neat formation, waiting for instructions.
