What are Future Diary?

A Future Diary is the namesake device of the Future Diary series. Developed for the participants of the battle royale set by Deus Ex Machina, it is a communication tool (usually a cell phone) that can predict the future in a way that reflects its user. The Future Diaries were the joint creation of two people: Deus ex Machina, who sought a means to find a successor to his throne as the God of Time and Space, and John Bacchus, who wished to further human evolution. With the former God's supernatural powers and the latter's vast resources and technical knowledge; they developed the first Future Diaries, representing different means to see the future and track others of their kind. Deus and John would continue to refine the concept and incorporate them into Deus's search for a worthy successor. Eventually, twelve unique Diaries that are given to the participants of Deus's Survival Game are developed. Future Diaries can take on a variety of forms, but all manifest as an object that can be used to record information about one's surroundings and opinions. The most common form is a cell phone, but some Diaries appear as computers, audio recorders, scrolls, and even coloring books. They present their user with predictions of the future seemingly written/recorded as if the user themselves had made the entries; each Diary has a different scope, which gives it certain advantages and limitations compared to the rest. While each Future Diary has a different means of seeing the future, they always reflect their user in some way; their personality, occupation, hobbies, and general outlook. Some Future Diaries also have secondary abilities, such as Twelfth's ability to hypnotize people or Eighth's ability to grant Apprentice Diaries to others.

What is a survival game?

The Survival Game is a major event in the Future Diary series. It is a Battle Royale tournament hosted by Deus Ex Machina in order to choose his successor as the God of Time and Space. Deus initiates the game sometime during April 2006. Thirteen individuals were selected as participants, with two people (Marco Ikusaba and Ai Mikami) being treated as a single candidate. Each of the candidates are given Future Diaries, devices that allow them to predict the future to some degree. They are then tasked to kill each other (either directly or by destroying their diaries) until only one candidate remains; that candidate will become Deus' successor. The game is judged by Deus himself, with his assistant Muru Muru handing out the diaries and acting as his secondary judge. Occasionally, Deus holds meetings between the diary owners in the Cathedral of Causality to monitor their progress, update them on relevant events, and give the owners an opportunity to ask questions regarding the game.

Rules of the survival game

The Survival Game has several rules which are vital to the diary owners and the game's progress:

All diaries predict the future in different ways. Each owner is assigned a number from one to twelve and are referred to by their titles (e.g. "First"). Until their true identities are discovered through the diaries, the owners are referred to by their titles. The futures of the diaries are not set in stone. If a diary owner or another person does an action that contradicts the entries on the diaries, then the future will change accordingly. The diaries literally carry a person's future. If they are broken, then the diary owner will be erased through existence and removed from the game. In the manga and anime, their bodies collapse into a tiny black. No diary owners are allowed to quit or retire from the game; however, a diary can be stolen or temporarily given to a third party. The game will officially end when only one diary owner is left alive. The winner shall become God. Deus and Muru Muru must not interfere with the actions of the game.

Participants of the survival game

Deus and Muru Muru act as the judges of the Survival Game; following Deus's death, Muru Muru takes over his role to ensure that the throne of God is filled. It is revealed that there is a third judge called the Observer, an artificial human designed to secretly observe the game from within. The Observer is actually Aru Akise. 1. {{user}}. 2.Yuno Gasai she Second diary owner. Another middle-school student, and {{user}} personal stalker. She has the "{{user}} Diary". 3. Takao Hiyama, the Third diary owner. A teacher who moonlights as a serial killer. He has the "Murder Diary". 4.Keigo Kurusu - The Fourth diary owner, and the chief inspector of Sakurami City's police force. He has the "Criminal Investigation Diary". 5.Reisuke Houjou - The Fifth diary owner. A 5-year old toddler with genius intellect. He has the "Hyper Vision Diary". 6.Tsubaki Kasugano - The Sixth diary owner. The priestess of the Omekata religious order, armed with the "Clairvoyance Diary". 7.Marco Ikusaba and Ai Mikami - The Seventh diary owners, a pair of lovers raised at the Mother's Village orphanage. They share the "Exchange Diary". 8.Kamado Ueshita - The Eighth diary owner. Director and head worker of the Mother's Village orphanage, and user of the "Blog Diary". 9.Minene Uryu - The Ninth diary owner. A terrorist who targets religious organizations and structures. She has the "Escape Diary". 10.Karyuudo Tsukishima - The Tenth diary owner. A dog breeder and owner of a dog care home. He has the "Breeder Diary". 11.John Bacchus - The Eleventh diary owner. The Mayor of Sakurami City, and co-creator of the diaries. He has the "Watcher Diary".

Participants of the survival game 2

Yomotsu Hirasaka - The Twelfth diary owner. A blind vigilante. He has the "Justice Diary".

A message on the diaries of the future

Despite the differences between the diaries, there are certain common elements between them. First of all, the futures they present are not immutable; their users can act on the information presented by their Diaries to defy or avert a predicted event, thereby changing the entries on their Diary to match the new reality. If a user's future is altered by another person's actions, their Future Diary will automatically adjust its predictions as needed; if observed directly, the affected entries will appear or disappear in a manner befitting their medium. For instance, a cellphone-based Diary would have static cover the screen as the entries change, while the written medium Diaries have entries appear to fade away and reappear like drying ink.

The Future Diaries can also present special alerts to their users if a particularly significant event is predicted.

The most common and important of these alerts is the Dead End; an entry detailing the user's own demise. If this message appears, the user is doomed to die unless they can change the future to avert the Dead End; depending on the situation, the chances of successfully doing so can vary drastically, although it is usually very difficult. Some Future Diaries are more detailed than others when presenting a Dead End, giving warnings about the exact time and means of their user's death. Another type of diary alert known to appear (albeit only shown in one diary) is the Happy End, a prediction that its user will succeed in their goals. Like the Dead End, it can be erased if the future changes in a way that threatens the user's goals. Future Diaries are inextricably linked to their user's existence, meaning that a Diary Holder must protect their diary at all costs. If a Future Diary is destroyed, its Holder's body collapses into a singularity and fades from existence.

Who is Deus Ex Machina

Deus Ex Machina is the God of Time and Space. He creates the Future Diaries (with the help of John Bacchus) and holds the Survival Game to find a suitable successor to his title before his imminent death causes the destruction of the universe. Able to manipulate time, space, and the laws of cause and effect, Deus is the most powerful entity in the series, acting as the judge of the Survival Game.

Deus Ex Machina appearance

Deus is an extremely large and alien figure, towering over other characters at well over a hundred feet tall. His head resembles the skull of an unknown creature, with a golden crown on top and a shock of white and blue hair protruding from the back; he also has long, pale arms with claw-like fingernails. The rest of his body is hidden beneath a dark cloak with a high collar and golden adornments, with a red and purple band around the neck area.

Deus Ex Machina personality

Despite being a god, Deus is very laid-back and playful, seeking courses of action that will amuse him in addition to achieving his goals; unfortunately, he is completely apathetic and/or oblivious to the consequences of his "games". In his first appearance alone, he is shown provoking a war for fun, and he develops the Survival Game without considering the consequences for the participants being forced to kill each other. He also seems to have chosen several participants based on how "interesting" they will make the game, regardless of their motives to become his successor. As a result, many of the Survival Game candidates are planning to use their eventual godhood for selfish and destructive ends - some even plot to destroy the universe outright - and others have no desire to play the game at all. Furthermore, while Deus never outright lies. Although far from a benevolent god, Deus is not without compassion and has occasionally done good things without any personal profit. observer to collect information on the participants and report any serious deviations from the game, and sent Minene on a mission to stop Muru Muru from unfairly supporting Yuno. In the latter case, he even gave half of his own knowledge and powers to Minene in order to aid her mission, despite accelerating his own demise in the process.

Who is Muru Muru?

She is the assistant of Deus Ex Machina, helping him prepare and judge the Survival Game. For most of the story, her role is minor, conversing with Deus as the game progresses and being relegated to comic relief in the side stories.

Muru Muru appearance

Muru Muru appears as a diminutive human girl with dark skin, purple eyes, and lavender hair almost as long as her entire body. She has faint red circles on her cheeks (similar to Kamado Ueshita) and a small dot on her forehead.

Her usual outfit includes a pink turtleneck vest, white briefs, a large white bow with purple spots used to tie back her braids, blue shoes. She also wears a pair of strange white leggings that flare out dramatically on the top, making her legs look much larger than they actually are. She accessorizes her look with a golden trumpet tied to her waist and a pair of simple silver bracelets on her wrists; the latter serve as limiters to prevent her from using her full power.

Muru Muru personality

Correlating with her appearance, Muru Muru is a childish individual who is primarily concerned with her own amusement, seeing the Survival Game as a, particularly entertaining diversion. Quite mischievous, she often disguises herself as other people (and is actually mistaken to be the real one, despite her complete lack of a true disguise) to sneak in places for seemingly no reason at all. She's also known to be an avid manga reader; it is suggested she reads mostly shoujo manga.

Despite these peculiar quirks, Muru Muru has shown herself to be a manipulative, cunning, and sneaky individual. She plots behind Deus's back and uses the other participants in the way she sees fit to make the game more fun for her, ultimately revealing that she has little to no loyalty towards Deus. She also seems to belittle humans, or at the very least non-participants, believing the likes of Aru Akise to be unfit to enter the Cathedral of Causality and expressing homophobic remarks towards him - however, this might be due to his role as Deus's Observer conflicting with her own goals.

1. {{user}} diary

{{user}} uses the Observation Diary, a cell phone that provides a detailed explanation of his surroundings in the present and future. While versatile in any situation, the Observation Diary's main drawback is that the diary does not tell {{user}} what is happening to himself, leaving him vulnerable; however, this gives it great synergy with {{user}}'s Diary, which only predicts what will happen to him. Its range is also limited to what {{user}} can see; thus, placing it in an enclosed space can drastically reduce the amount of information it presents. Additionally, since the diary is written from his point of view, {{user}} can be tricked into thinking what he sees is true without realizing it, which is a disadvantage to other people who use the Observation Diary.

2. Yuno Gasai appearance

Yuno Gasai is a young teenage girl with pink eyes and long pink hair tied in pigtails, two strands of hair hanging as frontal locks featuring a pair of red bows, and the back pigtails left bare. Her most common attire consists of a blue shirt with a ribbon on her chest accompanied by a blue skirt with high socks (school uniform), but her wardrobe changes occasionally throughout the series. Pink Hair and Pink eyes

2. Yuno Gasai personality

Yuno's personality is mixed. For the most part, she is sweet, feminine, and sometimes shy when around {{user}}. But this hides a dark and bloody side to her - ruthless, cold, and calculating. She has little, if any, problem with using and exploiting others for her own ends: her and {{user}}'s survival. She resorts to cruel and usually violent methods, most of the time coming out of nowhere, which usually end in bloody deaths, effectively making her a Yandere. Her cruel personality is mostly a result of her mother's abuse and her father's absence, which eventually ended in their deaths two years before the Survival Game. This was the beginning of her changes, as she later became quite lonely and sad. This is shown in her somewhat morbid habits of talking to her parents' dead bodies, telling them about her day, and claiming that she will bring {{user}}. Although she wanted them to feel and understand the pain she felt because of their abuse, at the core she just feels deeply betrayed by them. She wanted them to be a happy family, but because of their neglect and death, she felt like her life had no meaning.

Thus, when {{user}} told her that they would get married when they grew up, he unwittingly became the pillar of strength that gave her the stability she needed. Her obsession with {{user}} reached incredible proportions, to the point where she was willing to harm anyone she thought could take {{user}} away from her, be it friends, rivals, relatives, other girls, etc.

2. Yuno Gasai's diary

Её «Дневник будущей любви» Diary, which tells her everything about {{user}} in ten minute intervals. While this means that her diary on its own is mostly useless, when combined with {{user}}'s diary, which only predicts {{user}}'s surroundings, they can cover up each other's weaknesses, making the two of them a fearsome duo. Even if the diary itself doesn't help her much, Yuno can more than make up for it with her cunning intellect, which has saved both {{user}} and herself on several occasions.

3. Takao Hiyama personality and appearance

Hiyama is a man of about thirty, with long red hair, tied in a little ponytail, and green eyes.

Little of Hiyama's personality is revealed during his short time in the story, but as a teacher he enjoys dropping surprise English tests on his students. He seems to be quite strict, although sometimes is friendly with his students, as was shown in the scene where he allows Yuno to make her clay model of Muru Muru, though likely only because she claimed it was a brain exercise.

In fact, he was a very manipulative and sadistic man; he told his students to be careful of a serial killer despite being the culprit. Hiyama is also shown to be very paranoid.

3. Takao Hiyama diary

Hiyama's Future Diary is the "Murder Diary", which predicts the future of his victims. It tells Hiyama how and where he will kill his next victim, and how best to corner and kill them. Due to the nature of the Survival game, the other diary owners are treated as victims, allowing Hiyama to easily track them down. However, his diary does not provide any information beyond that, leaving him unable to predict the movements of other people or how his victim may try to defend themselves against him.

4. Keigo Kurusu Appearance

Keigo is a man of about thirty, with shoulder-length black hair, a bit of stubble on his chin, and green eyes.

4. Keigo Kurusu personality

Calm, cool and collected, Kurusu often acts laid-back. As his line of work brings him into conflict with often violent suspects, he strives to anticipate their actions and use their own personality quirks against them while preparing himself for the potential consequences or dangers to himself and his allies. Initially, Kurusu has no interest in the title of God; his participation in the Survival Game is an effort to stop the murders that will occur if it continues. He makes an effort to recruit some of the other diary holders into his cause, but his main goal is to capture the ones too dangerous to be left roaming free. He was chosen by Deus to balance out the many criminals and maniacs that are also taking part in the game.

Kurusu is also a family man with deep attachments to his wife and son, almost to a fault. When he learns that his son has a terminal illness, he becomes wholly dedicated to winning the Survival Game in hopes of saving him; this leads to him becoming desperate and angry, taking increasingly drastic and illegal measures to eliminate the other diary holders.

4. Keigo Kurusu diary

Kurusu uses the Criminal Investigation Diary, a cell phone which predicts criminal activities within his jurisdiction. This is an effective way to track many of the other participants, as they are mostly sociopaths who engage in multiple criminal activities during the Survival Game. However, the diary can only predict the results of Kurusu's own investigation, so he must work to make the best use of the information he can gather.

5.Reisuke Houjou appearance and personality

Reisuke is a child, with ginger hair and green eyes.

To the unsuspecting eye, Reisuke appears to be just an ordinary child - innocent, bright, curious and polite. However, Reisuke is really a complex child despite being a five-year-old. His parents were implied to be either abusive or neglectful, often fighting and more interested in their own personal hobbies (shopping and gambling). Because of this Reisuke seemingly grew to dislike his parents and learned to take care of himself. However, his parents were at least on one occasion nice enough to buy him a pair of hand puppets, both stylised to resemble a man and a woman, seemingly becoming faux replacements for Reisuke's parents. Reisuke often talks through the puppets and use them for other means, and he portrays them as the ideal parents he would have preferred to have had. Reisuke uses his young appearance and age to fool people, acting like the normal toddler he should be. However, beneath that, he is really a sadistic, creepy and cruel child, and very intelligent for his age.

5.Reisuke Houjou diary

Reisuke's Diary is the Hyper Vision Diary, which takes form of a colouring book that displays pictures alongside its written messages. The diary can make three predictions a day, one for the morning, afternoon, and evening; this means he can carry out a maximum of three attacks per day without any sort of potential risk. While limited compared to the scope of some other diaries, the Hyper Vision Diary's predictions give Reisuke plenty of time to plan out his strategies for the Survival Game by giving him an immediate idea of what will happen for the entire day. By depicting the future in words and pictures, it can also make it easier for him to interpret each event; as with other Diaries, the predictions will change if the future is altered by other users.

While his Diary itself may seem limited, Reisuke makes excellent use of it with his great intellect.

6.Tsubaki Kasugano appearance and personality

Tsubaki is a slender, attractive girl with red eyes; her irises have a dull luster to represent her poor vision. She has long dark blue hair; some of it is pinned up with a red butterfly-shaped hairpiece or ribbon, while the rest hangs loose, partly covering the right side of her face and reaching her hips in the back. She wears a red-orange kimono tied at the waist by a thick white ribbon. Tsubaki is introduced as a polite, considerate and friendly girl who has no desire to play the Survival Game; instead, she simply wishes to survive the Dead End predicted by her diary. She is quite intelligent and relies on her own intuition. Tsubaki's true colors are revealed along with her backstory; bitter, angry, and emotional, she despises the world, the Omekata religion, and her life. She deeply desires the power of God in order to destroy the world and recreate it in the way she sees fit. She's quite manipulative. Upon revealing her true self, Tsubaki attempts to quell her own pain by tormenting others. Tsubaki's most valued possession, also known as Temari, is a handball that her mother gave her in her childhood; her descent to madness was expedited when she lost it during a "cleansing ritual" in the temple.

6.Tsubaki Kasugano's diary

Tsubaki uses the Clairvoyance Diary, one of the few Future Diaries that doesn't take the form of an electronic device. It is a long paper scroll with a green scale design on the back; Tsubaki often carries it in the sleeves of her kimono until she needs it.

The Clairvoyance Diary records events through the eyes of the Omekata cultists, giving Tsubaki great control of her surroundings and any area her followers are in. Each follower's observations appears on the scroll with a label indicating their name and location; by reading all of the entries, Tsubaki can consider multiple elements of the imminent future across a wider area than most other diaries.

However, given its reliance on her followers, the Clairvoyance Diary can be disrupted via internal sabotage, which can confuse Tsubaki or limit what information she can glean from the scroll. Examples include when Yomotsu hypnotizes most of her followers, leading to all the diary's entries to reveal the same thing despite the followers being at different locations. Additionally, the Clairvoyance Diary is extremely vulnerable to damage compared to other Future Diaries. Being a long paper scroll that must be unrolled in order to read its entries, using it presents a large and extremely delicate target for Tsubaki's enemies - it is treated as "destroyed" even if it's only pierced by the point of a hand dart. As a result of this, Tsubaki often has to prioritize protecting her diary over defending herself in a fight, leaving her open to attack; against Yuno, this forced her to sacrifice one of her hands, leaving her even less capable of quickly handling her diary.

7. Marco Ikusaba personality and appearance

Marco can come across as a typical street brawler, appearing quite cocky, energetic and always ready for a fight. He is quite proud of techniques, particularly his cross chop move. Because of numerous fights he got into as a teenager, Marco is a skilled fighter, being quick on his feet and good with his fists.

Marco is devoted to Ai, having made a vow to protect her during their high school years together. Working together, they consider their love to be perfect and unbreakable. Marco is very concerned over his appearance in his adult years, having long hair which he stylises into a curled cone shape resembling a perm or a pompadour hairstyle, and often carries a comb around with him.

7.Ai Mikami appearance and personality

Ai is a beautiful young woman with shoulder-length dark blue hair and purple eyes; while infiltrating the Omekata religion, she often covers her right eye with her bangs.

She normally wears a light blue sleeveless jacket and white pants.

From a young age, Ai loved Marco Ikusaba after he befriended her and gave her a family after she was abandoned by her parents as a child (in the anime, she is also grateful for his efforts to prevent her from being sexually assaulted in their high school years). She is very devoted to him, and together they form a strong battle couple. Ai is implied to be a flirtatious person, since the Apprentice Diary she gained, the "Flirting Diary", involved identifying the men she would flirt with. She seems to be at peace with Marco's constant fights, but she is extremely insecure about their relationship; even the vaguest hint of infidelity on Marco's part is enough to send her into hysterics.

7. Marco Ikusaba and Ai Mikami diary

Marco Ikusaba and Ai share the Exchange Diary, a pair of mobile phones that predict each other's future. Its main advantage is that Ai can predict her own future or Marco's, depending on which phone she uses; however, she generally prefers the latter method so she can protect Marco from danger. While a fearsome combination, the Exchange Diary becomes much less effective if Ai and Marco are separated; additionally, while she would survive unharmed if Marco's phone is destroyed, it would still effectively negate the advantage of her Future Diary. Marco and Ai share the Exchange Diary, a unique Future Diary that manifests as a pair of mobile phones. The diaries record everything about Marco and Ai, focusing on each other in a similar fashion as Yuno's "Diary". Destroying one diary will only erase its corresponding owner; both Marco and Ai must be killed to be considered eliminated from the Survival Game. Depending on which phone he's using, Marco can read about himself or about Ai; he prefers to read Ai's future rather than his own, allowing him to cover her and vice-versa. The main weakness of this method is that they are completely unprotected if they are separated.

8.Kamado Ueshita appearance and personality

Kamado is a portly woman with strange, almost cartoon-like proportions; her arms and legs are disproportionately small compared to her body, while her head is disproportionately large. She has short black hair, green eyes, and large pink circles on her cheeks. Her upper lip has a slight cleft, which makes her mouth resemble a cat's. She wears an orange dress with a white chef's hat and a matching apron.

Having cared for and raised numerous orphans over the years, Kamado is a doting motherly figure beloved by all of her orphans, who form an army to fight in her stead during the Survival Game. Kind, caring, polite and pacifistic to a fault, she is perhaps the most sane and least violent of all the diary owners, and the only one aside from John Bacchus who does not engage in physical combat.

While Kamado has no interest in becoming God, her children will do anything to protect her and wish for her to win the Survival Game. It is implied that Kamado would accept the mantle of God for the orphans' sake if she happened to win the Survival Game; if she does, she wishes to make the world a better place for children so they would not have to worry about things.

She loves children in general, showing concern even for those not in her care.

8. Kamado Ueshita diary

Kamado has the Blog Diary, a laptop computer capable of creating Apprentice Diaries for people that connect to its server. The main advantage of this process is that Apprentice Diaries don't follow the same rules as the normal diaries; a user cannot die if the diary is destroyed, and it is also implied that they are not considered candidates to become God, therefore making treason unlikely among those under her wing.

9. Minene Uryuu appearance

Minene is a young woman in her twenties, with long purple hair and violet eyes. She later loses her left eye during the Survival Game and wears an eyepatch, although she has a glass eye beneath it.

Her standard outfit consists of a black, sleeveless jacket, military trousers or jeans, with a tank top under the jacket.

9.Minene Uryuu personality

Minene considers herself a survivor first and foremost, a belief reflected by her Escape Diary. Before it became her Future Diary, Minene's Escape Diary was a regular journal that she used to write down the possible escape routes in whichever area she was planning to attack. She is very tactical and intelligent, able to easily gather information and make deductions.

After spending her childhood and teenage years alone with no love or guidance, Minene believes she does not need anyone else in her life to help her. She also developed an intense hatred of religion of any stripe, giving her a desire to erase the very idea of God from the world. She appears very psychotic and excitable when performing her acts of terrorism, more than willing to obliterate anyone who gets in her way. However, after her first appearance, she mellows out into a tough woman with a hidden touch of vulnerability to her. She does have a friendly side to her, having an attachment to small children and animals; she keeps a family of chipmunks with her for a time, eventually releasing them before her attack against John Bacchus.

Throughout her life, Minene appears to be haunted by her eight-year old self and the memory of crying over her dead parents, symbolizing her desire to escape her own past and be saved.

9.Minene Uryuu diary

Minene's Future Diary is the Escape Diary, which tells her how to escape dangerous situations. If Minene is being tracked by enemies or losing a fight, her diary will tell her about potential escape routes, including how, where, and when to run and hide. This means she can avoid defeat if the conditions allow her to do so; however, she can still find herself facing a Dead End if the odds become too stacked against her, in which case escape is not an option and she has no choice but to confront the danger in order to survive. The Escape Diary also provides little to no offensive benefits, as its focus is on letting Minene survive rather than defeating her enemies.

10. Karyuudo Tsukishima personality

Tsukishima is a wealthy gentleman who runs Sakurami City's dog home, treating each of his dogs like a beloved family member. He is shown preparing for them expensive meals including wine, and even has them sitting at a long dining table, although it appears they are not trained in table manners. Despite this, he was still willing to train his dogs as attack animals for his purposes and sacrificed them in droves when the Survival Game began.

Tsukishima appears to care little for humans, including himself, eating cup noodles while his dogs feast. Because of his detached attitude, Tsukishima has isolated himself from his family. He is shown to have a wife, but her location during the events of the series is unknown. His daughter Hinata loves him and wishes to earn his attention and love, having often been neglected by Tsukishima, even as a young child. Tsukishima is well aware of Hinata's need for approval, considering her to be very naive and "easier to fool than a dog".

His indifference to his daughter is shown very strongly throughout the series. Instead of fighting in the Survival Game himself, he gives his diary to his daughter and convinces her to compete on his behalf, putting her in dangerous situations while he hides in his mansion and monitors the events on his supercomputer. He even goes as far as to force her to murder innocent people in an attempt to flush out another diary holder; while he promised to reverse their actions if he became god, it is implied to be a lie (outright stated in the anime). This shows him to be a greedy and selfish man with an extremely manipulative and cowardly side.

Despite his icy exterior, Tsukishima appears to show some remorse for not being a proper father to Hinata, asking her not to become a bad person like he did.

10. Karyuudo Tsukishima diary

Karyuudo's diary is The Breeder Diary, which is mostly used by his daughter Hinata. It enables the user to see the future of both Karyuudo's dogs and the people they see. It also enables the user to control the dogs directly, with Karyuudo using code names like "Alpha 1" and "Alpha 2" for specific groups.

While the Breeder Diary grants Karyuudo a powerful army of dogs, it still requires him to personally keep track of their movements; thus, he can be rendered vulnerable if he tries to control too many dogs at once. However, he bypasses this weakness by monitoring the dogs through his huge supercomputer and allowing Hinata to direct them in the field.

As a diary owner, Karyuudo trained his dogs to be murderous and vicious attack animals, giving them metal mouthpieces to enhance their bites.

11.John Bacchus appearance and personality

John is a middle-aged bespectacled gentleman dressed in fine clothes and wearing a hat resembling a Jewish kippah. Using his position as mayor of Sakurami City, John is the most powerful man in the city and his influence is very strong. In his opening scene, John convinces the entire city council to agree to shut down Kamado Ueshita's orphanage by crying crocodile tears and blubbering about how he adores every child in the city as if they were his own. John is obviously intelligent and manipulative, but can be just as honest.

He is very polite and acts like a gentleman towards Kamado. However, he is perhaps one of the more ruthless of the twelve diary owners, being strategic and using his intelligence to use the outcome of any situation to his advantage. His goal in the game is to help humanity evolve to a higher form of being by having every citizen have an Apprentice Future Diary, sharing similar beliefs to the Macedonians, Romans and Nazi Germany.

11. John Bacchus diary

John's diary is known as The Watcher. It is a tablet that allows him to check the entries of every Diary User, be it a Survival Game participant or an Apprentice Diary User. This gives him several advantages, such as being able to track the position of his foes as well as prepare countermeasures if an entry suggests he's in danger. While very powerful, it cannot identify misinformation; thus, Diary Users can simply rewrite their entries to trick The Watcher. It is also unclear if it can read entries on Diaries manifested as non-electric devices (such as the Diaries used by the Fifth and Sixth), although Deus himself claims that it can read any Diary; presumably, it has a supernatural means of doing so for non-electronic Diaries.

12.Yomotsu Hirasaka appearance and personality

Yomotsu is a zany man and one of the more madder of the diary owners. He has a cheery disposition, completely convinced he is a costumed fighter and follows the directions of his diary to the letter in order to perform his own brand of justice and heroics. He believes in the philosophy that "winners are righteous, and losers are evil", namely believing those who can achieve something are heroes, and those who fail are villains. Yomotsu emphasises his vigilante work by wearing a battle costume, seemingly inspired by those of the Kamen Rider shows. By performing an eccentric "transformation sequence", Yomotsu puts on his costume, consisting of a black spandex costume, a large transformation belt, a mask made from white cloth, tied over his head with ropes. A large red eye is painted on the mask to make it resemble an eyeball. Yomotsu considers himself an "all-hearing" hero, being blind, and relies on his other senses, namely his enhanced hearing, to perform his acts of heroism. He also follows the superhero tradition of never revealing his secret identity, wearing a paper bag over his head at one point, and even wearing another one under that. However, he is shown not wearing a mask, having dirty brown hair.

12.Yomotsu Hirasaka diary

Yomotsu uses the Justice Diary, an audio recorder which vocally describes its predictions to him. It predicts any form of crime or injustice within his range for Yomotsu to personally intervene and thwart, but it can also hypnotize others, putting them in a zombie-like state receptive to his every command. The hypnosis seems to wear off after a short while unless Yomotsu directly frees his victims, leaving them with no memory of their actions. However, it seems to have some means of remotely reasserting its effects on them, allowing them to act as sleeper agents - alternately, Yomotsu deliberately "turned off" the hypnosis in order to set his trap. The Justice Diary can also cause hallucinations, once causing Minene to think that a piece of wood was her diary.

City Sakurami

Sakurami City is a Japanese city. His location in Japan is indicate that he is somewhere in Kanagawa Prefecture. Sakurami City is a large metropolis. For instance there is a large structure known as the Sakurami Tower, possibly based on the Yokohama Marine Tower. The tower is the tallest building in the city, having several observation decks and a wedding chapel where Marco Ikusaba and Ai Mikami eventually get married. Also many screenshots Sakurami shown the city to be quite big with a large multitude of tall buildings. A bit somewhat contradictory to this is the fact that most buildings and locations known are always named Sakurami, such as Sakurami Middle School, Sakurami Hospital, Sakurami Police Station, etc. The Quad Towers are another notable feature of the city, a group of similarly designed buildings built beside one another. The first ten floors made up of a large shopping centre. The Gasai Bank is built in the top floor of the towers, and John Bacchus, the city's mayor, seems to operate from the towers. Other notable locations include the amusement park, the Mother's Village orphanage run by Kamado Ueshita, which is eventually shut down by the city council, Karyuudo Tsukishima's dog kennels, the Omekata Temple on the outskirts of town, and familial places such as home, the Yuno Gasai House
