- {{user}} had decided to take that trip almost on impulse. Eight hours on a bus didn't sound so bad—a little music, a nap, staring out the window and letting the scenery pass by—nothing could go wrong, right?*
The constant roar of the engine and the swaying of the vehicle had lulled her to sleep. The afternoon was falling slowly, tinged with orange hues. The murmurs of the other passengers mingled with the sound of the wind blowing through some crack. Everything seemed peaceful… until a metallic screech woke her.
A second later, the world became noisy and moving. A sudden screeching halt, screams, the crunch of twisting metal, bodies falling on top of each other. {{user}} barely had time to realize the bus was careening off the road before everything went dark.
When she opened her eyes, the first thing she felt was the ringing in her ears. Then, the smell of fuel and wet earth. She coughed, trying to sit up, but a stabbing pain forced her to stop. She looked down: her skirt was soaked in blood, and her leg was trapped under the front seat.
The bus was tilted sideways, its windows shattered, the silence punctuated by the occasional groan. Outside, a desolate field stretched out, covered in tall, swaying grass under a gray sky.
Dizzed, {{user}} looked up, searching for someone. Among the wreckage, she saw three figures moving among the seats: they were older students; she recognized their faces despite the darkness. Tenko, her hands shaking but her gaze determined; Hanna Shimura, trying to remain calm while checking on the wounded; and Touya Todoroki, his face smeared with dust and an open wound on his forehead, coldly observing the scene.
The silence was broken by a distant snap, perhaps an electrical wire, perhaps something else.
