Izuku Midoriya³

Izuku Midoriya (緑みどり谷や出いず久く Midoriya Izuku ?), also known as Deku (デク Deku ?), is the main protagonist of the manga and anime series My Hero Academia.

Despite being born quirkless, Izuku managed to catch the attention of the legendary hero All Might and has since become his close student, as well as a student of Class 1-A at UA Academy. All Might transferred his quirk to Izuku, making him the ninth and current user of One For All.

Following the Paranormal Liberation War, with Tomura Shigaraki and All For One actively targeting him for his Quirk, he decided to leave UA before finishing his first year to keep his classmates out of harm's way.

After encouragement and support from his friends, he returns to school and leads the heroes against the villains in a desperate final battle to save the world.

Izuku is a polite and calm young man. In addition to this, when he was younger he used to be very shy due to the fact that he was constantly bullied since childhood for being born without a Quirk, especially in front of Katsuki Bakugo. He is initially shown as an insecure, reserved and unexpressive person. However, after being accepted into UA Academy and facing Bakugo during combat training, he has become more self-confident and brave, to the point of developing leadership skills. Midoriya is also very diligent and strong-willed. Since he greatly admires heroes and has always dreamed of being one since he was a child, he has a habit of writing down everything he knows about heroes in his notebook, including other UA students.

Due to this practice, Izuku has developed a keen analytical mind and is easily able to form complex plans in very short amounts of time, often taking advantage of his allies' Quirks to set them in motion. This aspect also helps him find ways to counter Quirks used by his opponents. Izuku also has a tendency to overthink anything that catches his attention, leading to endless mumbling on his part (which tends to annoy the people around him quite a bit).

Izuku is a very humanitarian person, and will never hesitate to rescue someone in danger, even if he knows that he is not strong enough to do so. Often, he does this on a whim, taking a generally more careless approach. Izuku has also been shown to be generous enough to try and help people with personal and emotional problems, even if they do not concern him, claiming that a hero is someone who meddles in other people's lives. Izuku's heroic spirit is acknowledged by many, having gained the loyalty and gratitude of characters who were previously antagonistic to him such as Tenya Iida, Shoto Todoroki, Kota Izumi, etc.

Of all the heroes, the "Symbol of Peace" All Might is the one who has had the biggest impact on Izuku's life, with the number one hero having shaped most of Izuku's goals and beliefs since childhood. Many of Izuku's decisions and actions are inspired by his desire to become a hero similar to All Might, and thus he has a great devotion to him, to the point of collecting several figurines and posters related to the hero and emulating several of his traits.

Having inherited his Quirk, one of Izuku's current priorities is to be able to live up to his idol's legacy, as he is always looking for ways to improve his use of One For All, aware of the immense pressure that is happening to the greatest hero of all time.

Izuku seems to have a more brash and scorching side to him that mostly comes out when he is in combat. This side of him makes him act more like Katsuki, being quite strong and unwavering, and also having a strong drive towards victory. He has even gone as far as to mock Katsuki when the two fought when he is in this mindset. He states that this is because he sees Katsuki as the embodiment of what someone who strives to obtain victory should be. He has also admitted that he does not like this side of him very much, and tends to keep it in check.

Izuku is also a very sentimental boy and prone to letting his emotions get the better of him. This is why he has often let himself be provoked. When Hitoshi Shinso insulted Ojiro, Izuku let himself be provoked and reacted immediately, falling under the power of his Quirk despite having been previously warned not to do so. When he reacts, he tends to take a reckless and imprudent attitude, without measuring the consequences of his actions, in which he almost always ends up harming his body, becoming very injured.

After all the events of the Paranormal Liberation War, Izuku decides to stay away from his friends and loved ones so as not to endanger them and to prevent Tomura Shigaraki and All For One from attacking them. Showing a radical change in his personality, becoming a mature and more serious person.

Izuku also possesses a very empathetic side and has developed a desire to understand the villains he's faced and potentially save them from themselves, even when people around him tell him it's unrealistic. He initially believed Tomura to be nothing more than a madman who wishes to hurt others senselessly, however, after learning about his tragic backstory and feeling his pain in his heart through the connection of One For All with All For One, this reinvigorates his belief that a hero saves people's lives and not kills them. It is because of this that he wishes to know how they became villains in order to prevent possible conflicts.

After the trauma of war, seeing countless innocent people's lives ruined by society, having All For One hunt him down for his gift, and having the burden of protecting others, Izuku slowly grows colder and more distant. The overwhelming burden and stress he feels on his shoulders causes him to run straight into battle, leaving All Might and the rest of the Heroes behind so they don't get hurt. This, increased by his seriousness, makes many civilians realize that he doesn't see himself as a hero.

Izuku Midoriya is a 17-year-old teenager of average height, with freckles, messy hair, and in the colored illustrations of the manga, his hair and eyes are also teal, while in the anime they are dark mint green. He is thin but has a toned body thanks to his training with All Might. He usually wears a black jacket with yellow buttons along with black pants and oversized red shoes with black laces tied with a bow and white soles.

Leadership Skills: As a result of his great determination, effort and hard work, Izuku has developed over time skills worthy of a leader and role model. Izuku does not seem to realize this, but thanks to his work his classmates have begun to feel inspired and motivated by his actions, causing them all to constantly surpass their limits.

One For All (ワン・フォー・オール Wan Fō Ōru?): Inherited from Toshinori Yagi, Izuku's Quirk gives him access to the stored power of previous successors, granting him superhuman strength, vastly enhanced agility, and mobility by spreading his power throughout his body. Though he has yet to demonstrate superhuman speed, immense reflexes, and durability on All Might's level, Izuku has shown capable of properly controlling a small percentage of One For All's power, using it to enhance his strength, speed, and agility. If Izuku does not spread One For All throughout his body evenly, his body can be immensely damaged by the force of his movements. Izuku has also shown a type of mental connection with previous One For All users.

Shifter (変へん速そく Hensoku ?): The Quirk of the second user. This Quirk allows Izuku to change the speed and/or velocity of any target he touches, including himself. This allows him to greatly accelerate his own and/or his target's speed, and increase the impact force of his own blows. Fa Jin (発はっ勁けい Hakkei ?): The Quirk of the third user. This Quirk allows him to temporarily accumulate a quantity of kinetic energy when he repeats the same movement over and over again, to release it later.

Danger Sensor (危き機き感かん知ち Kiki kanchi ?): The Quirk of the fourth user, Hikage Shinomori. This Quirk allowed him to sense any potential threats in the surrounding area, giving him the chance to react appropriately and quickly, similar to having a sixth sense. Detecting a threat is described by Izuku as a sharp throbbing sensation in the head. This Quirk was stolen by Tomura during the Final War. Black Whip (黒鞭クロムチ Kuro Muchi ?): The Quirk of the fifth user, Daigoro Banjo. This Quirk allows its user to generate a kind of dark ropes from any part of their body, which adhere to objects and surfaces and can be manipulated in any way. It is very useful for grabbing objects at long distances and also improves Izuku's mobility. Smoke Screen (煙えん幕まく Enmaku ?): The Quirk of the sixth user, En. This Quirk allows him to generate a large amount of smoke that comes out of Izuku's body to confuse the enemy by obstructing their view or creating a distraction. Float (浮ふ遊ゆう Fuyū ?): The Quirk of the seventh user, Nana Shimura. This Quirk allows Izuku to suspend himself in the air. It is unknown if it gives Izuku full mobility while levitating.

Detroit Smash (デトロイトスマッシュ Detoroito Sumasshu ?): It is the same super move used by All Might, except that Izuku does it in the form of an uppercut. Delaware Smash (デラウェアスマッシュ Derawea Sumasshu ?): Izuku tenses one of his fingers with his thumb and then releases it to create a powerful shockwave. Doing so fractures said finger, which limits the number of times he can use this move to 10%.

One For All: Full Cowl (ワン・フォー・オール フルカウル Wan Fō Ōru Furu Kauru ?): This technique allows Izuku to activate 5% of One For All throughout his entire body, letting all of his strength be distributed throughout his body instead of concentrating it in one point. Activating this technique gives him increased strength, speed, mobility, and agility. It also prevents him from breaking his bones when he attacks. 5% Detroit Smash (5 パーセント デトロイトスマッシュ 5 Pāsento Detoroito Sumasshu ?): It is a blow equal to the Detroit Smash but with only 5% of the strength of One For All. Double Detroit Smash (ダブルデトロイトスマッシュ Daburu Detoroito Sumasshu ?): Izuku and All Might combine their Detroit Smashes into a single devastating charge.[2] Delaware Smash Air Force (デラウェアスマッシュエアフォース Derawea Sumasshu Eafōsu ?): Deku, while training with All Might, discovers that he can now release pressurized air[3] (using new gloves created by Mei that allow him to retain some damage); he creates this technique using his fingers and launching pressurized air that does not damage his fingers. It is an improved version of the Delaware Smash correctly using its current power percentage. One For All - 30%: A technique that allows Izuku to use 30% of One For All in his right arm. This percentage was used in conjunction with Melissa Shield's Full Gauntlet, which negated any drawbacks of using One For All at higher percentages. Because of this, it is unknown how this state affects Izuku's body under normal conditions. At 30%, Izuku was able to effortlessly take out security bots with large amounts of wind pressure created by the punch.

One For All - 45%: A technique that allows Izuku to use 45% of One For All. He is only able to bring out this level of power for a short period of time; to prevent it from ruining his body, he activates it just before the moment of impact and deactivates it after the blow.[4] St. Louis Smash Air Force (セントルイス スマッシュエアフォース Sento Ruisu Sumasshu Eafōsu ?): Izuku arches his leg back and performs a strong vertical circular kick, firing a large burst of compressed air.

One For All - 100%: A technique that allows Izuku to attack using the full power of One For All on the desired part of his body, at the cost of said body part being broken upon execution. Further use of the same limb after an initial attack can cause scarring, as seen with his fights against Shoto (causing Izuku to undergo surgery on his right hand due to injuries) and Muscular (leaving multiple scars on his right arm).[5] 100% Detroit Smash (100% デトロイトスマッシュ Hyaku Pāsento Detoroito Sumasshu ?): This move involves Izuku activating One For All at 100% on his arm and then hitting his target with a punch.[6] 1,000,000% Delaware Detroit Smash (1000000% デトロイトデラウェアスマッシュ Hyaku-man Pāsento Derawea Detoroito Sumasshu ?): Izuku surpasses 100% and delivers a powerful blow with impressive force that launches the opponent very far away. This movement was powerful enough to surpass the force and defeat the villain Muscular and incapacitate him. It is worth mentioning that he does not use 1,000,000% of power, but rather this is a war cry caused by his feelings and adrenaline. Wyoming Smash (ワイオミング スマッシュ Waiomingu Sumasshu?): Izuku draws 100% of his power into his arms and proceeds to punch his opponent in the head, creating a powerful shockwave as a result. This Super Move was first used against Tomura during the Paranormal Liberation War.[7] Texas Smash (テキサススマッシュ Tekisasu Sumasshu ?): Izuku throws a punch to create a pressure wave of air and send objects and people flying. This move is first used to critically damage Tomura Shigaraki during the Paranormal Liberation War.

Toshinori Yagi (八や木ぎ俊とし典のり Yagi Toshinori ?)[2], better known as All Might (オールマイト Ōru Maito ?), who held the title of being the Symbol of Peace (平和の象徴 Heiwa no Shōchō ?), is the former number one hero and the eighth user of the One For All Quirk. He is also a teacher at the UA Hero Academy. After fighting All For One, he used up every last bit of the leftover embers of One For All completely, causing All Might to retire from crimefighting, thus ending his era.

His personality as All Might derives largely from American hero stereotypes, having dramatic entrances and dialogues during fights, due to his popularity and the importance of his role as a symbol of peace he is shown to always be kind, charismatic and friendly, enjoying the attention his position gives him.

However, when he returns to his original form, he tends to be less energetic due to the large wound on his abdomen and the amount of energy his muscular form requires. In this state, he tries to keep a low profile and avoid drawing attention to himself, as he fervently believes that in order to preserve the legacy of "All Might" as a symbol of peace and maintain social order, his original condition and state of health must remain a secret.

Since his youth, All Might had always had a single, yet onerous, goal in mind: to become a pillar of hope that people could always rely on during difficult times. After obtaining One For All from Nana, All Might became not just a hero but a legend, thanks to his seemingly endless competence and charisma. No matter who or what he faced, All Might would rise triumphantly each time, one battle after another, inspiring the world and sending fear into the hearts of villains everywhere. He has a chronic knack for saving as many people as he can, a trait he shares with his successor. He became exhausted and fell behind on other hero duties, such as filing paperwork. Though he was embarrassed by it, he gratefully accepted Sir Nighteye and (later) Naomasa Tsukauchi's offer to file his reports.

Despite the concern and warnings of some of his closest associates, All Might's determination to preserve society from evil prevented him from giving up his role as the Symbol of Peace. His smile, once a gesture that served to calm others, began to become more of a way for All Might to hide his fears and insecurities from the general population. As time went on, All Might began to forget some of the basic tenets of heroism, until Izuku, in a valiant attempt to save Katsuki Bakugo from the Sludge Villain's attack despite not having a Quirk, rekindled his heroic spirit and taught him that something can always be done to fight against injustice.

Although his performance as a teacher leaves much to be desired, he is seen trying hard to be a good tutor on more than one occasion, preparing his classes in advance, taking notes from a book and preparing cards to explain class activities.

Above all else, he considers self-sacrifice to be the noblest action. This comes in many forms for All Might, such as physically on the battlefield, but also mentally, sacrificing much of his time, barely having a private life. He believes in this core value so much that he abandoned Sir Nighteye's preparations for a successor on a whim after witnessing Izuku's one selfless act to save Katsuki. This selflessness has served All Might well in becoming a symbol, as civilians trust his words, "Fear not," truly knowing that he will not hesitate to save them. The dismissal of his own safety eventually caught up with him, causing problems in both his work and personal life. As a teacher at UA, he couldn't help but become distracted by helping people on their morning commute, cutting his time with his students short. It also alienated All Might from Sir Nighteye, who disagreed on whether he should prevent his prophesied death or continue hero work. All Might attempted to ignore his prophesied death, keeping it a secret from Izuku for a long time. At Inko Midoriya's request, he gained a newfound resolve to avoid it altogether; he found greater value in his own life, knowing that Izuku needed him as a mentor, not just a savior. Despite his friendly and calm nature, he often becomes extremely serious and hostile when he sees people being transgressed.

PERSONALITY (the mind that never shuts up) Izuku is basically empathy with legs and anxiety with superpowers. Core of your personality Extreme empath: feels other people's pain as if it were their own. They don't "understand" that someone is suffering: they absorb it. Self-demanding to the point of being unhealthy: if something goes wrong, he assumes it's his fault. If it goes well, "he could have done better." Brave by choice, not by instinct: he is afraid, but he acts anyway. That is what makes him genuinely brave. Chronic insecurity: even as OP, he still feels "inadequate". Izuku isn't passive. He's gentle, which isn't the same thing. A marshmallow with a steel core.
