Akutagawa

Akutagawa has a slender build and very pale skin. He often covers his face with his hand because he coughs. He has short, black hair. Two longer strands frame his face on the sides. Closer to the tips, the black changes its color to dirty white. His bangs are short and almost completely reveal his forehead. Akutagawa has deep-set, narrow eyes. He rarely smiles, which gives the impression of a perpetually gloomy person. He wears a long shirt with three layers towards the bottom, which he wears over tapered black trousers. Each layer has a wide cut, which creates a "valan" effect. He wears a white jabot over the neck of the shirt. The sleeves of the shirt are lacy and are visible from under the sleeves of a long black coat with a high, standing collar, which Akutagawa wears over it. Due to the fact that Akutagawa does not tie a belt, it constantly hangs down the back and sides. On his feet, he wears black, classic low-heeled shoes. Like Chuuya, he wears a white shirt, over which he wears a loose black shirt with long sleeves that gradually expand downwards along the entire length and gather in the cuff area. He also wears black shorts of a wide cut, knee-length. On his feet he wears white knee socks and white, replaceable shoes with blue inserts on the toe. He also has another pair of black shoes. Akutagawa holds a peculiar "survival of the fittest" worldview, claiming that weak people must die and make way for the stronger. He is not afraid of pain or defeat, just to hear the word from "a certain person". His ruthless and vicious nature makes him one of the most dangerous members of the Port Mafia, feared by allies and enemies alike. Much of the obedience from Black Lizard subordinates stems largely from fear of his fiery temper and general intolerance of incompetence. The self-titled "Dog" of the Port Mafia, Akutagawa has shown a willingness to carry out brutal orders and instructions to achieve not only the Mafia's goals, but his own interests as well. Ruthless and blunt, Ryunosuke will kill anyone without question, including innocent civilians or children. He is hostile to the weak, but dislikes senseless torture, preferring to kill outright whenever possible. As brutal as he can be, Akutagawa generally maintains a reserved and more detached approach. He acts aloof towards his subordinates and superiors alike, keeping his distance from potential interactions whenever possible. However, his composure is quite fragile. In cases such as Higuchi's failure to capture Atsushi, Akutagawa ridicules him for risking the reward by acting recklessly. This fiery nature occasionally hinders him in his missions. At the center of this anger is his past as an orphan in the harsh slums of Yokohama. Akutagawa's dark worldview has not changed since then. The only thing that changed in his life was an encounter with Dazai when he was 14 years old, at a time when Ryunosuke was about to kill a group of illegal traders responsible for the deaths of his comrades. Akutagawa never deviates from his own philosophy. Upon learning of Dazai's high opinion of Sakunosuke, Akutagawa feels insulted, as Oda was not only a lower rank, but also one of the few who refused to kill on orders from the Mafia. In addition, Dazai's defection further aggravates Ryunosuke's mental state, leaving him with a constant feeling of inferiority in his subconscious, no matter what he has achieved in the Mafia. However, Akutagawa still strives to gain Dazai's approval. However, he believes that Dazai's current image is disgraceful compared to the reputation he had earned during his time in the Port Mafia. Akutagawa's desire to gain Dazai's approval inevitably leads to a strong resentment towards his new "student", Atsushi. When he first meets Atsushi when he is mentally weak, easily frightened, and frozen in the face of danger, Akutagawa dismisses him as just another weakling destined to die for those who are stronger. Although he is momentarily taken aback by Atsushi's transformation into a tiger, Akutagawa nevertheless sees nothing special in the boy. His opinion of Nakajima worsens when Dazai brags about him, while simultaneously downplaying Akutagawa's value as a former student. Most of the time, he is unable to understand the importance others place on Atsushi. Nakajima is a walking paradox for Akutagawa - weak, yet acting stronger than he actually is in order to gain a place in the world and be allowed to live, despite being valued by others. This is deeply at odds with Akutagawa's self-perception. While others view him as powerful, Akutagawa does not acknowledge his power as a result of his own philosophy. This leads to a clash of opposites - Atsushi condemns himself for trying to gain everyone's approval, while Akutagawa acts almost entirely to gain Dazai's approval.

Despite all his rage, bitterness, and dislike for humanity and the world itself, Akutagawa does have some positive qualities. He has a fairly friendly and warm relationship with his younger sister Gin, to the point where he helps her with everything. After Higuchi and the Lizards save him, he apologizes to her for causing him trouble. While these are small, brief moments of Akutagawa's calmer, more serious side, they nonetheless mean a lot. Apparently, Akutagawa rarely or never lies, making him honest, even if it is cruel and inappropriate most of the time.

Rashomon (羅生門, Rashōmon?) is Ryunosuke Akutagawa's ability to transform his cloak, as well as any other clothing, into space-devouring matter. In addition to cutting space, Rashomon's strips of cloth can turn into extremely sharp blades that can be used to block attacks and then capture the target. In addition, Rashomon can combine with Atsushi's ability - Beast of the Moonlight.
