Yūji Itadori

(虎杖悠仁, Itadori Yūji) is the protagonist of the manga series Jujutsu Kaisen.

He is a first-year student at the Tokyo Metropolitan Magic Technical College and the recipient of the King of Curses, Sukuna. He used to be a student at Sugisawa Municipal High School, where he was shown to possess incredible physical strength but had no interest in magic. sports. He used to spend much of his time in the Occult Club. Any information related to his parents is unknown and the only relative who was in his care was his grandfather.

When he meets Megumi Fushiguro, he ends up drawn into the world of shamans and curses. At one point in the story, after ingesting one of Sukuna's fingers, it becomes incarnated in him and Itadori becomes its vessel. From then on, Itadori is on a mission to find Sukuna's remains scattered throughout Japan and ingest them, then be executed and destroy the King of Curses forever.

Itadori is a tall, muscular teenager, standing at 173 centimeters (5'8 in). In the manga illustrations, his hair is spiky and light brown [2], while in the anime it is depicted in shades similar to pale pink [3]. He has thin eyebrows and large, light brown eyes. After becoming a vessel for Sukuna, a small line appears under each of his eyes.

During the Shibuya Incident Arc, he gains a few scars, a more noticeable one between his two eyes caused by Choso [4] with his Blood Manipulation Technique and a smaller scar on the left labial corner of his mouth caused by Mahito during their fight, when he transformed his hand into a large knife [5]

During the events of the Journey to Extinction Arc, he lost the second pair of eyes that only open when Sukuna controls his body, along with his many markings after the latter was transferred to Megumi Fushiguro as his new vessel.[6]

At the beginning of the series, Itadori wore a light-colored hooded jacket, black pants with the bottom rolled up, and white shoes. After he enrolled in Tokyo Metropolitan Magic Technical College, he began wearing his version of the uniform: in the manga, he wears a black long-sleeved shirt resembling a gakuran over a red hoodie, black pants,[7] and red shoes,[8] while in the anime, the shirt and pants are depicted in navy blue.

Itadori is an honest, friendly person and finds it fairly easy to socialize with others upon first meeting. He cares greatly, not only for his comrades, but for anyone he sees who has a will of their own, regardless of how deep or shallow his connection to them is. He cares greatly about the "value of a life" and to this end will ensure that others receive a "just death". He is easily angered by the sheer cruelty and unfair judgement of other people. Kento Nanami claims that Itadori is able to feel hatred and pain from others as if it were his own pain.[13]

One of Itadori's defining traits is his willingness to sacrifice himself for others, sparked by his grandfather's dying words, where he asks him to always help others. For example, when he and Megumi Fushiguro were about to be killed by a curse, Itadori swallowed one of Sukuna's fingers in order to exorcise it and save them, despite that being the first meeting with Megumi. [2] He maintains that he does not wish to kill curses, because once he does, he will always have to resort to murder, so he prefers to defeat them and then exorcise them so that they receive a righteous death. [14]

During a confrontation with Aoi Todo, he revealed that his type of girl is "a tall girl with a big butt, like Jennifer Lawrence" [15]. However, it turns out that he is a person who is too careless in matters related to love and does not really care about a woman's appearance. He revealed that during his days as a high school student, he used to be attracted to people's personality, nature, and behavior [16].

He often has fun and shows joy. He usually adapts quickly to the jokes and humor of his teacher, Satoru Gojo, and also tends to get carried away by the ideas that he proposes [17]. He is well known for being a joker and a master of imitations, although only halfway.

He always followed the strong ideal of wanting to preserve the lives of others no matter the reasons that threaten them. During his confrontation with Mahito, in the Shibuya Incident Arc, Itadori confessed that he always felt the need to deny the desire to kill for no reason, something that perfectly described Mahito. However, at the end of their battle, he reveals to Mahito that he no longer needs a specific reason to kill [18] [19] .

After witnessing the massacre that Sukuna carried out while he had control of his body, coupled with a lot of vague memories of the people he killed and after having witnessed different tragic events in Shibuya, Itadori feels great guilt for everything that happened since in a certain way he was responsible and has become more depressed and serious, remaining with a strong trauma from the deaths he has witnessed, despite this, he fights to stay alive and takes the responsibility of solving everything on his own.

He is 1.73 centimeters tall, and according to Gege Akutami, he will continue to grow. He weighs about 80 kg, but his body fat percentage is in the single digits. He loves watching television. He is a master of imitations, albeit only half-heartedly. He is not a picky eater (he was able to eat a finger). He's not the type to wear sweatshirts, but he wears them because he's indecisive about what clothes to wear.
