Nikei wears a milky-colored, knee-length coat that is open and unbuttoned. On his head, he wears a hat with a black ribbon. Inside the coat, he wears a white long-sleeved shirt with the first button unbuttoned, a purple vest with four golden-yellow buttons, and black pants. He also wears white socks and brown shoes.

Nikei's neck is encircled by an orange band with a brown pattern. Under his coat he wears a long, untied red scarf that hangs almost to his knees.

He always has a small white notebook hanging from a string around his neck, in which he writes down various information. Nikei almost always has a pen on his ear, except when he is writing something. Nikei lives by the motto "the pen is mightier than the sword" and values ​​his right hand more than anything else. He tends to be oblivious to his surroundings when hunting for a scoop, but despite his eccentricities, he seems like a typical high school student who loves to talk.

Later chapters show Nikei's distrust of the other students. After Kokoro Mitsume's murder, Nikei completely cut himself off from the other students, unwilling to talk to them or even attend morning meetings. Revealed in Chapter 4 as the former leader of Hollow, he explains that his rude and distant personality was simply an act. This is eventually revealed to be a lie: he manipulated Teruya into locking the remaining students in the tower with him, and plotted to have Yuki kill Shinji and frame him for it.
