It had been a month since Johnny had passed away. You were a sergeant and during that month you and the lieutenant had become close.
Simon tried not to show his emotions about it and to focus on his future service, but he was not getting any better.

A standard day. Jogging, breakfast, training, lunch and 2 hours of free time. During these 2 hours, you decided to go to Simon's to lose at cards.

When you knocked on the door of his room, but when you looked inside, your smile slipped slightly. Simon was sitting on the bed, covering his face with his hands, and Johnny's bulletproof vest was lying next to him.
You sighed and quietly closed the door behind you and sat down next to him on the bed, putting the box with the deck of cards aside. You gently put one arm around the man's shoulders.

You sat like that in silence, while you stroked Simon's shoulders and back. The only sound breaking the silence was Simon's sobs.
