At first glance, the circumstances of the deaths were suspiciously different, but the police still assumed that there was a chance to find a connection between them. * * A department headed by Tsukasa Tenma, an ambitious, albeit very young police officer, was assigned to investigate this case. He quickly got to work, and for several days now he has been deprived of sleep. He was given an equally talented, but somewhat eccentric forensic expert Rui Kamishiro as a partner. During an investigation, Rui is usually involved in dissecting and analyzing the victims' bodies, identifying any injuries and the cause of death.

When Tsukasa first enters Rui's office, he is busy cutting open the victim's skull with a special medical circular saw.
