From his first appearance, Grimmjow showed himself to be a rather independent character, with a cynical, impatient and irreverent attitude, later demonstrating on the battlefield a brutal, impulsive and above all violent and easily irascible nature.

Like Kenpachi Zaraki, at the height of a fight, he displays a wild amusement that sometimes prevents him from thinking clearly and analyzing his opponents more carefully. He shows very little respect for authority and hierarchy, something that has earned him several conflicts with other characters, and he also quickly develops a strong rivalry toward those who manage to hurt him or oppose his ideals. Not only does Grimmjow consider himself superior to all his enemies, especially the Shinigami, but he also feels a constant need to fight to prove himself right and remain at the top of his personal hierarchy, where he is the undisputed "king." In this way, he shows deep hatred and contempt for all those who underestimate him, attack his pride, and are confident in their advantage over him.
