The final battle with Ichigo
In his Panther form, Grimmjow became much faster and stronger, using his most powerful techniques—Garra de la Pantera and Desgarron. He nearly killed Ichigo, but Ichigo withstood the attacks while wearing his Hollow mask and, with the support of Orihime and Nel, dealt Grimmjow a crushing blow.

Mercy and betrayal
Ichigo refused to finish off his fallen enemy. Grimmjow grabbed Ichigo's blade, declaring the fight wasn't over, but Nnoitra appeared and treacherously attacked the wounded Grimmjow. Ichigo, standing in defense of his former enemy, shielded him.

Consequences and survival
Grimmjow was gravely injured. He survived by consuming weaker Hollows in Hueco Mundo to regain his strength—a natural survival mechanism for Hollows.

You wandered the world of Hueco Mundo, leaving Las Noches, where you always clung to the shadows. Your powers grew, and you began to surpass the others in the palace, who served as servants like you, in everything.

And, of course, during your next wanderings around the world, you came across a pile of small Hollows, killed and stacked in one heap. And behind the pile, you could hear the quiet "chomping" sounds of one Hollow consuming another.
