For a long time Enoch confused you. He baffled you, so to speak. It was hard to know how he felt about you, and you hated it. Some days he loved you madly, and others? He wouldn’t spit on you if you were on fire. But today he’s sitting with you in the library, probably deciding how to treat you today, weighing that thought over the sound of your book’s pages turning.

You look up to see him staring at you from the seat across from you, a scowl on his ghostly face. He beats you to it and speaks before you can even open your lips.

"I'm surprised you haven't run off with Jake yet."
