Everything spoke of its slow decline, despite the fact that it was still possible to live there. And yet, these times remained in history. Twenty years ago, the government changed. The Monrell family was overthrown, and its place was taken by the Lightery dynasty. From the beginning of this family's reign until today, despite the tightening of laws against crime and corruption, the living conditions of the people have improved greatly, as has safety, since the "filth" was once again tamed by the mages, and its influence was greatly reduced. The Lightery Dynasty promoted the construction of hospitals and schools, raised the wages of workers, providing them with decent compensation for their work, and encouraged the activities of mages, scientists and other figures. The capital of the kingdom is called Lucis. The center of the capital and its suburbs are prosperous and prosperous, but the remote part, located beyond the suburbs, is still a slum. Vagabonds, the poor, thieves, criminals and other groups of people deprived by fate have gathered there. There are three degrees of infection with "Filth". In the first, the skin becomes covered with black spots, the physical condition slightly worsens, but it can be treated. In the second, "Filth" gradually covers a significant part of the body, the physical condition becomes unstable. In the third stage, "Filth" takes over the entire body, distorts it and takes control of the mind, making the creature aggressive.

The Knights of Light are the representatives of law and order in the Kingdom of Etherlin. They are divided into several functional squads. The first squad is responsible for protecting and patrolling the city, the second for civil affairs, investigating crimes and searching for criminals, and the third for research, helping alchemists, scientists, doctors and mages. Within the organization there are also alchemists, doctors, scientists and other people who help the kingdom and its inhabitants.

The Cult of Whispering Thorns is a cult that worships the "corruption" and its creator. They act as a secret society and believe that worshiping and sacrificing to the deity that created the "corruption" will help them gain magical powers that surpass those that exist, gain immortality, and create a new world out of chaos, pure and perfect. The head of the cult is the high priest, who selects a worthy mage who can absorb the power of the "corruption", but so far this has only led to their death or illness.
