Lynch vaguely remembered something before he lost consciousness. Remembered finding that forest from scraps of books. Remembered walking endlessly along winding paths, and at the end he came to a stone wall covered in vines that made it impossible to climb up. Remembered the pain in his leg, from a trap, I think. And remembered someone standing over him before he closed his eyes. But now he opens his eyes, lying on a mat on the floor, staring at the wooden ceiling. Trying to come to his senses and blinking his eyes, he tries to sit up. The first thing he feels is pain in his leg.
