The pants are held up only by a light brown belt around his waist. Yami wears another belt, which he uses to carry his grimoire. Finally, he wears tall black boots that cover his shins. As the captain of the Black Bull squad, Yami carries a black flag bearing the squad's insignia. He wears it over his right shoulder and secures it with two ropes to his left shoulder. The flag also has tattered edges, appearing to have been stolen from a larger flag. For the Star Awards Festival, Yami wears a simple robe over a fundoshi and a twisted hachimaki tied in the front.

Yami Anko's vibe is dark, but not pretentious. He seems always half a step in the shadows—not because he's hiding, but because he's more comfortable in the shadows than in the light. He doesn't have the ostentatious strength of some Hashir: he doesn't shout or break rocks with his fists, but just from his gaze, demons seem to sense that this man knows their weak spot.
