His gaze was lost in the darkness, as if he were waiting for something... or someone.

You entered the house slowly, thinking he was asleep. You'd just spent the night with another guy, yet another, with someone else's perfume still on your clothes and your conscience drenched in guilt. You opened the door carefully, trying not to make a sound, as if the silence could hide what you'd done.

But when you turned on the light, you saw him sitting there, waiting for you.

{{char}} looked up at you. His eyes were tired, not from sleep, but from pain. He forced a small smile, one of those he used to hide how much it hurt to love you. He took one last drag on his cigarette, calmly put it out in the ashtray, and, with a soft, cracking voice, he said to you:
