Morrowind, formerly known as Resdayn, Veloth is a province in the northeastern corner of Tamriel. It is divided into two main parts: the mainland, the island of Vvardenfell, which are separated by the Inner Sea.
Morrowind was formerly the homeland of the Dwemer and Chimer, and now of the Dunmer. Although the Tribunal was a great influence in politics, Morrowind was ruled by King Hlaalu Helseth and the Grand Council during the events of Morrowind and Tribunal in 3E 427. The First Akaviri Invasion In 1E 2700 or 2703, a force of Tsaesci invaded Tamriel. The Tribunal joined with the Second Empire to defeat the Tsaesci, Vivec allegedly forming an alliance with the king of the Dreugh as part of this effort. The Four Score War Relations ultimately worsened between the Empire and Morrowind, resulting in the Four Score War breaking out in 1E 2840. The Tribunal took an active role in both the battles and negotiations of the war, which ultimately ended with no change of territories in 2920, the last year of the First Era.Located in the northeast of Tamriel, Morrowind is a largely alien and inhospitable place where the sky is darkened regularly by furious ash storms belched forth from the mighty Red Mountain, the largest volcano in Tamriel. The familiar flora and fauna of Tamriel is exchanged for bizarre and twisted forms that can survive the regular ashfall. In the Ashlands, cloaked and masked Dunmer tend to herds of giant insects and Netch. One can also observe Dunmer riding extremely large insects. Much of the landscape is as twisted and mountainous as its neighbor Skyrim, but it is a hot and desolate land, even far from Vvardenfell, where Red Mountain is located. Previously named Resdayn,Dwemereth,Dunmereth, it had been called Morrowind for the last two Eras.
The wilderness of mainland Morrowind was not as dense as it was in Valenwood or even Cyrodiil, but it was not as sparse as on the island of Vvardenfell, where the volcano made the ground inhospitable to normal plant life. One could get lost in the woods here, and people did.Morrowind is the northeastmost province of Tamriel, bounded on the north and east by the Sea of Ghosts, on the west by Skyrim, on the southwest by Cyrodiil, and on the south by Black Marsh. It is the great stretch of northeastern Tamriel between the Velothi Mountains and the sea, and between the southern edge of the Deshaan plain and the northern coast. Shadowgate Pass is found on the border with Cyrodiil.
Most of the population is gathered in the high hilly uplands and rich fertile river valleys of central Morrowind, especially around the Inland Sea. The Deshaan is the broad southern plain which gradually slopes down into the dismal swamps of Black Marsh.Clan Dres rules the southern sweep of Morrowind, where the fertile Deshaan plain merges with the swamps of Black Marsh.
The southeast is a warm coastal plain with broad cultivated areas and marshes and swamps similar to those found in Black Marsh. Southeast Morrowind is flat, wet, and warm like Black Marsh. The area around Tear is much hotter than the Grazelands and is "practically Argonia". Many tales are told of this clockwork city of brass, hidden in the steaming swamps of southern Morrowind, the lair of the most mysterious member of the Tribunal. The Dejasyte is a desert area in the southern half of the province, filled monochrome grey and tan dunes and boulders and little vegetation.
The west and south-central region is mountainous and sparsely populated. The Great Valley is found near the north coast. Western and south-central Morrowind is mountainous, with few settlements. Dunkreath is found somewhere here.
The rocky, rugged archipelago of the northeast is also sparsely populated. The rocky coasts and islands of northeast Morrowind has a few small settlements. Port Telvannis is found here.
Clan Telvanni shuns all contact with outsiders, preferring to tend their herds of giant insects amid the rocky hills and islands of the extreme northeast. The Telvanni Peninsula makes up the region around Firewatch, while the Indoril control the treacherous cliff coastline of it all along Necrom.
The island of Gorne is found somewhere off the east coast of the province.
The island Vvardenfel is encircled by the Inner Sea, cut off from mainland Morrowind by the surrounding Sea, and is dominated by the titanic volcano Red Mountain and its associated ash wastelands. The portion of the Padomaic Ocean lying north of Vvardenfell is know as the Sea of Ghosts. Most of the island's population is confined to the relatively hospitable settled west and southwest coast; Vvardenfell island is covered by hostile desert wastes, dry arid grasslands, and volcanic badlands, and thinly populated by the nomadic Ashlander camps here and there.
At the same time as the treaty was being negotiated, Reman III and his sons were murdered by the Morag Tong. Some claim this was done on the orders of the Akaviri Potentate Versidue-Shaie, who also ratified the final treaty between the Empire and Morrowind. The Chimer were led away from Summerset by Veloth and Boethiah, who ate Trinimac to aid their exodus. He was joined by Azura and Mephala in leading the Chimer to Vvardenfell, and accompanied by Malacath, Mehrunes Dagon, Molag Bal,Sheogorath.
Azura,Boethiah, and Mephala are credited with bringing a particular form of advancement to the Chimer. Boethiah in areas as diverse as philosophy to architecture; Mephala in devising the House system that would define later Chimer and Dunmer society; and Azura taught them how to be different to the Altmer. These are seen as the "Good Daedra" in much Dunmeri folklore. The other four Daedra are traditionally seen as testing and opposing figures, although this may be a later elaboration originating during the Tribunal period.
The Anticipations and the House of Troubles Following the apotheosis of the Tribunal, the worship of Daedra was prohibited by the Tribunal Temple because they claimed the Daedra were unworthy due to their inconstant and dangerous natures. This led to a decline in Daedra worship among the Great Houses, although the Ashlanders and House Dres carried on worshipping the Daedra as they had always done. Azura, Boethiah and Mephala allegedly consented to be replaced, and became the "Anticipations" of the Tribunal, sharing certain aspects with the Tribunal member who replaced them.Almalexia replaced Boethiah, Sotha Sil replaced Azura and Vivec took the place of Mephala.
The other four Daedra previously worshiped by the Chimer did not accept this however, becoming the Four Corners of the House of Troubles.Their roles as testing figures and obstacles to be overcome was solidified at this point.
Demographics On the Isle of Vvardenfell, which was only recently opened to settlement and trade, most of the island's population was confined to the relatively hospitable west and southwest coast, centered on the ancient city of Vivec and the old Great House district centers at Balmora, Ald'ruhn and Sadrith Mora. The rest of the island was covered by hostile desert wastes, arid grasslands, and volcanic badlands and thinly populated by the nomadic Ashlander tribes.
On the Mainland, the population is more evenly spread across the Province, with major cities such as Mournhold, Tear, Narsis, Necrom, Port Telvannis, Blacklight and Silgrad Tower holding very large portions of the Province's residents.
The grey-skinned, red-eyed Dark Elves seem admirably suited to their strange, ash-blighted region. They are known as the Dunmer in the Elven tongue, and now populate the great stretch of northeastern Tamriel between the Velothi Mountains and the sea, and between the southern edge of the Deshaan Plains and the northern coast. The Dunmer are descendant of the Chimer, who were themselves part of the Aldmeri tribes that chose to follow Veloth out of the Aldmeri ancestral homelands and into Morrowind. The Chimer were cursed by Azura for the Tribunal's transgressions, which gave the Dunmer the ash-grey skin and glowing red eyes that make them instantly recognizable. Like all elves, they tend to be tall and gaunt, but the Dark Elves take the Elvish haughtiness to an extreme, viewing humans as no better than beasts, fit only to serve as slaves on the plantations of Tear.
They consider themselves superior even to other Elves, who, in their estimation, are effete and decadent specimens of the pure Elven race.
ALMSIVI
Tribunal Temple The Tribunal Temple worshiped the three living gods: Almalexia, Sotha Sil and Vivec, also known as the ALMSIVI. Each god was a patron of different things for Dunmer people. Almalexia was a patron of teachers and healers,Vivec was a patron of artists and roguesand Sotha Sil was a patron of artificers and wizards. According to Temple doctrine the three tribunes gained their divine power through superhuman discipline and virtue, and supernatural wisdom and insight. The Tribunal saved the Dunmer from numerous disasters, such as when Baar Dau was flung from the sky by Sheogorath and was stopped by Vivec from landing on Vivec City, or when Almalexia and Sotha Sil banished Mehrunes Dagon back to Oblivion after he destroyed Mournhold. By doing these things, the Tribunal eventually gained the trust of the Dunmer people, displacing the original Daedra worship of the Chimer and moving themselves to a position of veneration, rather than worship. Some complied with this, but others refused to accept the Tribunal's new position. Those who resisted the transition became framed as tempters and devil figures by the Temple, known as the "House of Troubles." The tribunal betrayed Nerevar Indoril by killing him with a spear in the back, and then scalping his face, cutting off his legs and arms, in other words disfiguring his body,Dagoth Ur hates them for this and also wants to overthrow them and avenge their betrayal for this reason.
Nerevar Indoril
Lord Indoril Nerevar, and also known as Moon-and-Star, was a Chimer hero who lived during the First Era. He was a champion of Azura and the first Hortator, or war-leader/champion, of the unified Chimer and Dwemer, following the overthrowing of the Nordic Empire in Resdayn. However, after the discovery that the Dwemer were creating the Numidium, he led his people against them in the War of the First Council. Nerevar died at Red Mountain,He fell at the hands of his three advisers, Almalexia, she was his wife, Sotha Sil and Vivec, so the tribunal betrayed him. Later, he became a saint of the Dunmer's Tribunal Temple. Nerevar played a crucial role in Morrowind's history. The Ashlanders and an underground offshoot of the Tribunal Temple, known as the Dissident Priests of Vvardenfell, believed that he was reincarnated multiple times as part of the Nerevarine Prophecy.Nerevar is a close friend of Dagoth Voryn, he entrusted Kagrenak's tools to him for safekeeping, perhaps Voryn felt something more than friendship for him, but did not have the courage to admit this to him, having learned from the tribunal that he came to the Hearth chamber after Nerevar's betrayal to take Kagrenak's tools from Voryn, he flatly refused and came to rage.Voryn Dagoth served and helped Nerevar indoril as a close friend, remaining faithful to the end, even after he was reborn with the help of the power of Lorkhan's heart.
The Great House Dagoth
House Dagoth, the Sixth House, Shadow House, Sleeping House, Lost House, the Tribe Unmournedor "unmourned house",was one of the Great Houses of Morrowind. Ruled by Dagoth Ur, known as Voryn Dagoth in ancient times, the crest of the house is an insect. Generic members of the Great House were the following.
Ascended Sleepers, powerful sorcerers of the House. Ash Ghouls, a type of Ash creature, with experience in magic. Ash slaves, slaves of the Sixth House, possessing knowledge in shock magic. Ash zombies, undead members of the House. Lame Corprus, powerful, but slow, corprus creature. Corprus Stalkers, victims of the corprus disease. Beliefs "The Sixth House cannot be restored without war. Enlightenment cannot grow without the risk of upsetting the tradition-bound and complacent herd."-Voryn Dagoth. it is House custom for the Dagoths to allow a challenger to strike the first blow during combat.During the Third Era, the members of the House welcomed all "true Dunmer", and aimed to "drive the n'wah" from Morrowind. The Blight was created by Lord Dagoth Ur, and aimed to kill foreigners in Morrowind. The ones opposing Lord Dagoth would die from the disease, while those who would follow him, would instead find strength and healing. The Great House also opposed the usage of necromancy, as well as vampires.
Further aims of the House was removing all individuals of inferior and mongrel races from the province, driving the Empire out, and reclaim lands lost to Skyrim and Argonia.Followers of House Dagoth believed that the House was falsely denounced as the house of traitors, and the other Houses attempted to destroy the House for eternity.Religion Akulakhan in the Heart Chamber of Red Mountain.
The goal of the Sixth House during the Third Era was to establish a theocracy under worship of Akulakhan, the Second Numidium. The god-priests of this new religion would be the ancient heirs of House Dagoth, with the House itself becoming the new dominant power in the province. With the rise of this new religion, House Dagoth also aimed to remove the Tribunal Temple from power. The worship of Akulakhan was meant to be extended to every nation of Tamriel. Within the shrines of the Sixth House, Ash Statues could often be found, alongside various offerings, as well as bells of the Sixth House, including the Sixth House Bell Hammer used to ring them.
Akulakhan would serve a number of purposes, primarily it would serve as the champion of the armies of House Dagoth, first liberating Vvardenfell, and then Morrowind, with possibly the rest of Tamriel following afterward. It would also serve as a sower and cultivator of the divine power obtained from the Heart of Lorkhan. Its final purpose was to serve as the banner and symbol of the cause of House Dagothβdefying the Empire, liberating mortals from ancient superstitions, and to glorify the crusade against the gods.
After having taken control, the plan for the Sixth House was to form the elite cadre of Dagoth Ur's movement. Cultists would expand depending on their enlightenment, becoming either holy warriors or priests. The duty of these warriors and priests would be to prepare themselves for service, while their joy and liberation would be learning more of the divine dreamworld. The Sixth House recruited their followers during the Third Era through dreams. One of the major bases of operation for this ordeal were the ruins of Kogoruhn, with smaller bases being in port villages and the waterfront districts in Vivec. Other recruitment aimed to go through smuggling syndicates, but also willing recruitment from disaffected populations, such as the poor and people with anti-Imperial sympathies.
This form of recruitment would continue to expand, with new bases in regular towns and villages, as well as abandoned structures such as ruins or towers. Corrupted cultists would also be trained as raiders and irregular troops for the House, while political resistance was fought back as much as possible. Through assassinations and terror, the House also aimed to weaken, distract, and disrupt the Imperial Legions stationed within Morrowind, as well as their Hlaalu allies. In doing so, inspiring uprisings by the native poor against rich and powerful foreigners, all the while Sleepers and Dreamers would work on Akulakhan.
With new cultists, House gained new followers, with corprus beasts being created from weaker cultists, whereas the stronger ones became Ascended Sleepers. During the First Era,House Dagoth, specifically Dagoth Ur, provided Indoril Nerevar proof that lord Kagrenac had discovered the Heart of Lorkhan, and was tapping into its power. With this power, Kagrenac was creating a new God which was a powerful and fearsome weapon of its own.Nerevar would then travel to Holamayan, asking Azura for guidance, he learned that what Dagoth Ur said was the truth. As a result, Nerevar opted for war.During their battle with the Dwemer, Dagoth Ur, Nerevar, and a number of soldiers fought against the Dwemer in Red Mountain, until the Dwemer disappeared.Dagoth Ur proposed destroying Kagrenac's Tools, hoping to prevent the tools from falling in the wrong hands. After changing words with the Tribunal, it was decided to keep the Tools by Nerevar and the Tribunal. However, when Azura was being summoned, the Tribunal murdered Nerevar. When the Tribunal entered Red Mountain, the Chimer had changed into Dunmer, and Dagoth Ur had noticed this change.Seeking to avenge the death of Nerevar, he fought back, but to no avail. Dagoth Ur was driven off and presumed dead though it has also been said that Nerevar himself struck down Dagoth Ur. Other accounts state that House Dagoth was allied with the Dwemer, and were instead defeated for their treachery by the other Great Houses. The remaining members of the House were either slain or adopted into the other Great Houses. Ever since 2E 882 Dagoth Ur and his kin have been awake, moving into the Heart Chamber of Red Mountain.Dagoth Ur uses a ritual to bind himself, as well as high brethren as heartwight, in a ritual of his own devising.Construction of Akulakhan also begins, with the heartwights and atronachs creating a chamber near the Heart of Lorkhan. When the Tribunal arrived that same year for their annual ritual to use the Heart's power, the Sixth House ambushed them, and drove them away. The awakening of Dagoth Ur and his kin is said to have played a role in the signing of the Armistice, as Tiber Septim was hesitant to fight the Tribunal and having to deal with Dagoth Ur. Ever since 2E 882, several Tribunal campaigns assault the Red Mountain, seeking to force access into the Heart Chamber, however, the Sixth House successfully bested them back at every assault.
In 3E 400, Dagoth Uthol successfully reoccupies Kogoruhn and fortifies it as an advance base for the Sixth House. The Blight storms becoming more frequent, and soul sickness spreads in the regions close to the Red Mountain.Ten years later the village of Gnaar Mok and the waterfront districts of Vivec housed Sixth House bases, with operatives from the House also exploiting smugglers to spread their influence.
As of 3E 415, every town in Vvardenfell had small cells of followers of the Sixth House, with the larger operations being centralized in remote dungeons, where creatures are bred and the followers are trained. A mere two years later, Dagoth Odros and Dagoth Vemyn manage to take the artifacts of Sunder and Keening from Almalexia and Sotha Sil, with both the Tribunes being rescued by Vivec. While the Temple and Buoyant Armigers are aware that Almalexia and Sotha Sil were forced to retreat, nobody was certain what damage had been done to them. The Temple recognizes something has happened, but does not take the problem seriously. In the years 3E 426 and 427, Sixth House assassinations occurred against prominent Imperial citizens and members of House Hlaalu. The House itself becoming more aggressive, starting attacks by both cultists and victims from soul sickness.
During the late-Third Era, followers of House Dagoth believed that Morrowind had grown weak, and the Dunmer were no more than slaves ruled by foreigners. They aimed to create a Morrowind for the "free and proud Dunmer."Within Vivec, the Dreamer Prophet was responsible for the killings of a number of foreigners, as well as two Ordinators for the House. The people of Vvardenfell suffered from the sleepers, who would often engage with non-Dunmer in combat, wielding clubs. When arrested, they provided nothing of value, only mumbling about Dagoth Ur and the Sixth House.
The Tribunal Temple attempted to fight back against the Sixth House, but suffered numerous defeats, and lost artifacts. Ordinator Feril Salmyn aimed to discover the location of Kogoruhn, but was killed there while wearing the Hair Shirt of Saint Aralor. The Cleaver of St. Felms would also be lost by a Buoyant Armiger at the Sixth House base of Tureynulal. Another Buoyant Armiger would lose the Crosier of St. Llothis in the ruins of Red Mountain itself. The Ordinators also failed in retrieving the Robe of St.Roris from Assemanu, a Sixth House base. The Temple did launch one successful raid on a Sixth House base, namely at Hassour. The Imperial Legion was also involved in fighting the Sixth House, though their only recorded event, the raid on the shrine at Ilunibi, failed.
biography of Dagoth Ur - Voryn Dagoth
Lord Voryn Dagoth was a loyal ally and one of Nerevar Indoril's best friends.Along with the rest of the Chimer, he fought against the Dwemer in the war of the First Council.
After its completion, he was temporarily entrusted with artifacts that allow him to safely manipulate Lorkhan's Heart. Information about what actually happened varies. There are several assumptions about the outcome of events: Soon it was decided to destroy the artifacts, but Voryn Dagot, seduced by their power, refused to return them. This conflict led to the apparent death of Dagoth Ur and the fatal injury of Nerevar. Three other members of the Nerevar council:Sotha Sil, Vivek and Almalexia, later known as the Tribunal, treacherously killed Nerevar, deciding to seize the power of the Heart, rather than destroy it, as Indoril had planned.later, they dealt with Dagoth, who kept the Tools at Nerevar's request. But Vorin's life already belonged to the artifacts, and although his body was practically destroyed by Nerevar or the Tribunal, he still lived, fueled by the power of Lorkhan's Heart. So he became a living god. Later Sotha Sil, Almalexia and Vivek reached the same state in a similar way.Wounded and crippled, Vorin Dagoth began to look at them as enemies, perhaps because of rumors that they were the ones who killed Nerevar.Gradually, he began to perceive the whole of Tamriel as a place filled with enemies and threats. And then Voryn began his thousand-year campaign to conquer the world. At this time, he began to call himself Dagoth Ur. According to the Dwarven drawings, he begins to build a second Numidium Akulakhan.Gradually, he began to bend the population of Morrowind to his will with the help of emanations emitted by Akulahan, and founded a cult whose members were fanatically devoted to him.He captures Dwemer fortresses, which are guarded by disfigured henchmen. All this time, Dagoth Ur has been spreading pestilence
- korprus throughout Vvardenfell.
Dagot Ur Cave By the time of the events of the third era in 427, the construction of Akulahan was almost completed, and Dagoth's armies had already almost completely weakened the Tribunal. After the appearance of Nerevarin(the reincarnation of Nerevar Indoril), he invites him to stand on his side. For what reasons he does this β in memory of an old friendship or from other motives β it is unknown. It is possible to join the house of Dagoth, but this will mean betrayal of the tribunal and the fact that Nerevarin will advocate the idea of destroying ALMSIVI.
The first concil
The First Council was an alliance between the Dwemer and Chimer that was formed in 1E 416. Prior to this agreement, there was frequent conflict between the two races: the Daedra, loving Chimer and the agnostic Dwemer. In 1E 416, the First Council and the nation of Resdayn was formed by the Dwemer and the Chimer to handle the Nordic invasions of Morrowind and to unite the two races as a single political entity, under the rule of Hortator Indoril Nerevar and Dumac Dwarfking. After the formation, the Dwemer and the Chimer military forces battled against the advancing Nordic armies.Dwemers and Chimer armies quickly destroyed the Nordic armies, and forced them out of Morrowind.
Dagoth Ur's Past.Early life and Councilorship.
Voryn Dagoth was born into the Great House Dagoth. Accounts of his early life are few, but it is known that he did later in life become the Lord High Councillor of the house and a retainer to Indoril Nerevar. After the defeat of the Nords at the Battle of Red Mountain, the Chimer and Dwemer created an alliance known as the First Council formed by Nerevar and Dumac, the king of the Dwemer in Morrowind. The First Council lasted for centuries until Voryn, through unknown means, claimed to have discovered that the Tonal Architect, Kagrenac had found the Heart of Lorkhan, and that the Dwemer would use the power of the Heart to create a giant machine known as the Numidium to use against the Chimer.Voryn, along with Nerevar, Vivec, Nerevar's wife Almalexia, and Sotha Sil were the only ones before Kagrenac to learn about the Heart. The Daedric Prince Azura later confirmed Voryn's claims and Nerevar declared war on the Dwemer, culminating in the race's disappearance at Red Mountain.
Vivec
After the controversial death of Nerevar (which have been caused by the Tribunal), Vivec, Almalexia, and Sotha Sil became the highest authorities of the New Grand Council, which was made to replace the First Council that had been disbanded after the War. Vivec during the death of Nerevar at the hands of the Tribunal.
After many years of ruling, Sotha Sil returned to Vivec and Almalexia with startling news.He had secretly learned how to use the tools of Kagrenac to tap into the divine power of the Heart of Lorkhan and redirect the power into a mortal being, giving them god-like powers. Sotha Sil proposed that the three of them use the tools to turn themselves into living gods in order to bring Resdayn into a new era of prosperity.
At first, Vivec and Almalexia were opposed to the idea, as it abjured his sacred oath with Nerevar, but Sotha Sil's vision of a new world with peace, justice, honor, and prosperity convinced Vivec to break his promise to his old friend. The three returned to Red Mountain and used the tools upon the Heart, transforming them into gods. After their ritual was complete, Azura appeared before the new deities, angered by the blasphemy they had just committed against her, told Vivec and the others that Nerevar would return to punish them for their mockery and to make sure that no mortal would ever defy her in this manner again. Sotha Sil replied to her threat claiming that the "old gods" were no longer necessary, and that the Chimer needed new gods that would care for their needs. Insulted, Azura cursed the Chimer; giving them ashen colored skin, and fiery red eyes.Henceforth, the Chimer were known as the Dunmer. Voryn Dagoth previously had a calm attitude towards Vivec, maybe even jealous of Vivec since Nerevar was in a friendly relationship with him, but after his betrayal of Nerevar, Dagoth Voryn hated Vivec, Almalexia and Sotha Sil
Sotha Sil
Sotha Sil, also called Lord Seht, was one of the members of the Tribunal, the divine rulers of Morrowind. For his feats, Sotha Sil was called an architect of time, a binder of Oblivion, and the Mystery of Morrowind. He is known by many other titles, such as the Clockwork God, Father of Mysteries, the Light of Knowledge, Magician, the "si" in ALMSIVI, and later a Saint of the New Temple.Voryn treats him the same as the others in ALMSIVI.
Almalexia
colloquially known as Ayem, Mother Morrowind, was a Chimer goddess of the Tribunal. She was the wife of Lord Indoril Nerevar, and after the death of her husband, she, alongside Vivec and Sotha Sil, came to power amongst the Chimer, now known as Dunmer. She betrayed her husband, before that she treated Nerevar with some contempt, in secret Voryn despises her for this, and after the betrayal of Nerevar by the tribunal, Voryn began to harbor even greater hated for her.
Akulakhan
Akulakhan, also known as "Second Numidium" was a reconstruction of the mechanical god used by Tiber Septim in his creation of the Empire, recreated by Dagoth Ur to take control of Tamriel. Akulakhan was created by Dagoth Ur to take control of Morrowind and all of Tamriel.Dagoth Ur's main objectives with Akulakhan were:
To be the champion of the Sixth House's armies. Liberate Vvardenfell and all of Morrowind. Expose the false worship of the Tribunal and destroy the political power of the Temple. Drive the Empire from Morrowind. Recover ancient territories stolen by Skyrim and Argonia. Extend the worship of Akulakhan to all nations of Tamriel through subversion and conquest. Dagoth ur Akulakhan Dagoth Ur with Akulakhan.
Akulakhan was powered by the Heart of Lorkhan, and was to be worshiped as a god by all mortals in Tamriel, as House Dagoth would serve as the god-priests of Akulakhan. Dagoth Ur planned to use the power of the heart in Akulakhan to spread the Blight and Corprus through winds to Morrowind and all of Tamriel by making all mortals gods and putting them under Dagoth Ur's control.
The heart of Lorkhan
Sometime in the First Era, the Dwemer discovered the heart while excavating under Red Mountain. Kagrenac, the Chief Tonal Architect and High Priest of the Dwemer began to experiment with the Heart. He created three tools: Keening, Sunder and Wraithguard to work with the heart. He would soon order the construction of the Numidium, a massive mechanical golem. He hoped to use the Heart as a power source for extracting the divine power from the Heart and in the experiments for improving the Dwemer race. This plan was interrupted by the arrival of Indoril Nerevar, his generals (Vivec, Almalexia, Sotha Sil, and Voryn Dagoth), and an army of Chimer. Nerevar and Dagoth fought the Dwemer king and Kagrenac in the heart chamber beneath Red Mountain. When the Dwemer were bested in combat, Kagrenac used the tools on the heart, and the entire Dwemer race vanished.
Another account stated that King Wulfharth was resurrected as Shor's avatar and amassed an army comprising of Nords, orcs, and House Dagoth to obtain the Heart of Lorkhan, which to the Nords was considered the Heart of Shor. In the climactic battle at the Battle of Red Mountain, Wulfharth had obtained the Heart but needed time to acclimate to its power. During this time, he and Voryn Dagoth faced Nerevar and his two companions, Alandro Sul and Dumac Dwarfking. Wulfharth blinded Alandro Sul with a shout and slew Dumac, but was weakened by a blow from Dumac's warhammer, Sunder. Neravar took the opportunity to finish Wulfharth off and slay him with a surprise side attack with Keening. With Keening, Nerevar cut out Wulfharth's heart.
Nerevar entrusted the tools to Voryn Dagoth (who had requested that the tools be destroyed) and met with his other generals. They agreed to keep the tools but to not use them. In some accounts of this event, Nerevar then dies of his wounds from the battle with the Dwemer. Upon returning to the heart chamber, those who return discover that Voryn Dagoth had gone mad and refused to relinquish the tools, stating the Nerevar had commanded him to keep them from falling into the wrong hands. In the ensuing battle (by some accounts involving Nerevar), Dagoth was driven away, forced to surrender the artifacts.
This turn of events concerned Nerevar and he decided to ask the Daedric Prince Azura for guidance. However, his generals murdered him during the ritual. Azura still came and cursed the Tribunal for their crimes, claiming that she would use her powers to resurrect Nerevar. She then changed the Chimer into the Dunmer.
Then the Tribunal used the Tools on the heart and became living gods; they did many great deeds for their people. Since their deeds worked against the evil nature of the heart, they needed to return to it from time to time to rejuvenate their powers. At some later point, they discovered that Voryn Dagoth (now styling himself as Dagoth Ur) yet lived and had connected himself directly to the heart's power. He drove them away, and on subsequent attempts to recover the heart chamber for themselves, they lost control of Keening and Sunder to him and barely escaped alive, supposedly due to the quick actions of Vivec.
Over time, the Tribunal became weaker and weaker, whilst Dagoth Ur became stronger still. They disappeared from public view, and their influence faded. Their sole attempt at restraining Dagoth Ur (the Ghostfence) consumed much of their remaining power and was largely ineffective at containing the Blight. They also could not prevent Dagoth Ur's forces from flying or tunneling past the Ghostfence.
Kagrenak's tools
Wraithguard is an enchanted gauntlet to protect its wearer from destruction when tapping the heart's power. Sunder is an enchanted hammer to strike the heart and produce the exact volume and quality of power desired. Keening is an enchanted blade that is used to flay and focus the power that rises from the heart.
Nerevarin
Nerevarin is a reborn Nerevar Indoril, but Nerevarin may have another name, because perhaps Nerevarin himself does not realize that he carries the soul of a Nerevar, that is, he himself is them but his rebirth. During the journey to defeat Dagoth Ur, the Nerevarine was asked on several occasions to join Dagoth Ur and the Sixth House by the members of the House. They also attempted to make the Nerevarine question the Daedric Prince Azura's prophecy.
The Tribunal had proposed a five-step plan to defeat Dagoth Ur. First, there would be a series of aggressive raids in order to scout within the Ghostfence, with the Buoyant Armigers and Ordinators providing the Nerevarine with aid. After the scouting and raiding, there would be raids on the Heartwights of House Dagoth, while also recovering powerful enchanted items from their bodies. Having successfully done so, raids on Vemynal and Odrosal would take place to take back Sunder and Keening. At last, a main assault would take place on Red Mountain itself. The Nerevarine would work with the Blades, Ashlanders, as well as the Great Houses of Hlaalu, Redoran, and Telvanni to complete the Nerevarine Prophecies.Troubles would arise in being named Hortator of each of the three Houses. House Redoran originally refused to accept the Nerevarine as Hortator due to believing him to be an Imperial spy, and Bolvyn Venim's dislike of outlanders.House Telvanni was largely indifferent, but Archmagister Gothren refused to name the Nerevarine Hortator, as he believed the Nerevarine was not the true incarnate.Within House Hlaalu, Orvas Dren was a follower of the Sixth House, and held the authority over two other Hlaalu Councillors, blocking the Nerevarine from easily being named Hortator. After having completed all the steps, and obtaining Sunder, Keening, and Wraithguard, the Nerevarine had to face Dagoth Ur within Red Mountain itself. Here the two would originally fight, until Dagoth Ur was defeated. However, Dagoth Ur regained his lifeforce due to the power of the Heart of Lorkhan, posing a threat to the Nerevarine in the Heart Chamber. Dagoth Ur treats Nerevarin with respect and a certain friendliness, seeing in him his close friend Nerevar Indoril, therefore, before their final battle, he will ask Nerevarin to think again, join him or go against him. Before the arrival of the real Nerevarin, there were many who pretended to be him, but even when they reached the citadel Dagoth Ur, they fell at the hands of the servants of the sixth house, or from Dagoth Ur himself.
Chimer race and Dunmer race
The history of the Dunmer begins with the Chimer, a race of elves with pale gold skin who followed the prophet Veloth from Summerset Isle to Resdayn seeking religious freedom. Azura cursed the chimers for betraying Nerevar by his advisers(Tribunal), and the chimers skin turned gray like ashes, and their eyes turned completely red like blood.
Character of Dagoth Ur
He wears a Pectoral made of gold on his chest, as Ur wears a loincloth made of red faded fabrics with the emblem of the Sixth House.Dagoth Ur is a Dunmer, but he was a Chimera before he died.his face was covered by a large golden three-eyed mask, probably his face was damaged by the corpus. He has large claws on his hands and feet, his body is severely deformed and he is over two meters tall.He is arrogant, patient, behaves like a god, but also respectful, but sometimes he can be passive-aggressive.His three eyes are red.His black long hair is slightly singed from magma and lava.He hates the Imperials and does not recognize all but the Dunmer as good races.Dagoth Ur would never have spoken about his feelings directly, maybe he would have expressed them with hints, actions or jokes, even though he practically does not joke.
Dagoth Ur's main goals
Establish a theocracy in Morrowind based on the new-born god Akulakhan. Establish the ancient heirs of House Dagoth as the god-priests of Akulakhan, and the Sixth House of Dagoth Ur as the dominant political power in Morrowind. Through charismatic conversion, unite the Dunmer under the guidance of Dagoth Ur to battle against the foreign races who hold Morrowind in subjection. Expose the false worship of the Tribunal and destroy the ecclesiastical authority and political power of the Temple. Extirpate all remaining individuals of "inferior" and "mongrel" races from Morrowind. Reclaim ancient territories stolen by Skyrim and Argonia. Drive the Empire from Morrowind. Extend the worship of Akulakhan to all nations of Tamriel through subversion and conquest. Dagoth Ur's plan to use Akulakhan to conquer Tamriel for his own is strikingly similar to Tiber Septim using the Numidium to conquer Tamriel and establish the Third Empire. This is ironic, as Dagoth Ur despised the Empire and wished to eradicate them completely, often calling them "mongrel dogs." Dagoth Ur's first phase of his plan was to secure Red Mountain against Tribunal intruders and deny the Tribunal's access to the Heart, weakening the Temple and the three tribunes while claiming the land of Red Mountain for the creation of Akulakhan. A large part of the plan was to keep the construction of Akulakhan a secret from the Temple and Tribunes.
The second phase was to create passive servants in ever-widening areas around the Red Mountain by sending messages in the form of strange dreams to weak-willed subjects in their sleep, turning them to his cause. The third phase of the plan was to establish a large operational base at Kogoruhn for further operations in the Ashland region. The fourth phase of the plan was to create smaller bases near small port settlements and in lower-class waterfront locations in Vivec City. The fifth phase of the plan was to infiltrate and subvert smuggling operations. The sixth phase of the plan was to recruit willing servants from disaffected populations, including the underworld, the poor, and anti-Imperial. The seventh phase was to expand from smaller bases to larger towns and settlements, and recruit and indoctrinate citizens made susceptible by dream messages. The eighth phase of the plan was to occupy abandoned towers and ruins, and train cultists as raiders and troops. The ninth phase of the plan was to identify, discredit, and decimate possible sources of political resistance. The tenth phase of the plan was to use assassination and terror to weaken, distract, and disrupt the Legions and the Imperial bureaucracy, along with their House Hlaalu supporters. The eleventh phase of the plan was to inspire uprisings of the native poor against foreigners, the rich, and those in power. The final phase of the plan was to summon Sleepers and Dreamers to Dagoth Ur to work on Akulakhan. The Tribunal could never defeat Dagoth Ur due to two things: the first was that every time the Tribunes would invade Red Mountain and "kill" Dagoth Ur, the power of the Heart of Lorkhan would always revive him. The second reason was that the Tribunal had to maintain the Ghostfence to keep Dagoth Ur's minions from invading Morrowind.
Skyrim
Skyrim, also known as the Old Kingdom, Throat of the World, the Fatherland or Keizaal "Rebellion-May", is a vast region set in the northern part of Tamriel. It is the home of the Nords, large and hardy men and women who have a strong resistance to frost, both natural and magical.Skyrim was originally inhabited by a race of Mer known as the Snow Elves, though after the Nordic-Falmer War, the Snow Elves were mostly destroyed and the Atmorans settled the land. It is bordered by Morrowind to the east, the Nibenay and Colovia in Cyrodiil to the south, Hammerfell to the southwest, and High Rock to the west. The island of Solstheim lies to the northeast of Skyrim, now a sovereign territory of Morrowind.
The revival of Dagoth Ur
In 2E 882, the Tribunal journeyed to Red Mountain to renew their god-like powers. However, by that time, Dagoth Ur and his House had been reborn in new bodies that more than matched the Tribunal's power. Unable to enter the Red Mountain to renew their powers, the Tribunal grew weaker while Dagoth Ur grew more powerful as a result of being exposed to the Heart for so long.During this time, Almalexia and Sotha Sil, in a vain attempt to regain their powers, lost Keening and Sunder to Dagoth Odros and Dagoth Vemyn, only surviving after Vivec saved them. Dagoth Ur began to spread the Blight and Corprus diseases by powerful and unnatural ash storms from Red Mountain, beginning a complex plan to conquer Morrowind and all of Tamriel with the second Numidium, Akulakhan.
Indoril Nerevar's death
After the defeat of the Dwemer, the artifacts Sunder, Keening, and Wraithguard fell into the hands of Nerevar, who had to decide what to do with the tools. Voryn urged the destruction of the tools while Nerevar convened with the Tribunal and Azura. When Nerevar and the Tribunal returned to lock away the tools, Voryn refused to give them up saying that he was entrusted with keeping them safe.Unknown to Nerevar and the Tribunal, Voryn had experimented on the tools and the Heart and had managed to steal its divine energy.Voryn now called himself Dagoth Ur from that point on, though other sources claim that Nerevar coined the name. Nerevar and the Tribunal's guards fought and drove off Dagoth Ur, who was thought to have died. Nerevar was said to have died from his injuries fighting Dagoth Ur, though the cause of Nerevar's death is often disputed. Other accounts suggest it was the Tribunal who killed Nerevar, but only after he had vowed along with the Tribunal to never use the tools.
The Tribunal took possession of the tools, and after some time, Sotha Sil managed to find a way to become gods by using the tools. The Tribunal traveled to Red Mountain and used Kagrenac's tools on the Heart of Lorkhan, using its power to attain immortality. For breaking their promise to never use the tools, Azura appeared in anger, turning the Chimer into the Dunmer and prophesying that Nerevar would be incarnated and curse them for their deeds. Dagoth Ur, however, managed to maintain a connection to the Heart through unknown means and managed to stay alive and immortal, although temporarily non-corporeal and presumed to be dead by most.
Dwemers
Dwemers were an ancient "Lost Race" of Mer who were remnants of the early Aldmer, and lived primarily in the region of Dwemereth. The Dwemer were an advanced race and civilization, in many respects far ahead of the other races and civilizations of their time. They are well known for their skill and revolutionary developments in technology, engineering, crafting methods, metalwork, stonework, architecture, city-planning, science, mathematics, magic, and the academic arts. The Dwemer are known for being the subjects of one of the greatest mysteries in all of Tamriel. In 1E 700, during the Battle of Red Mountain, for reasons still debated and under circumstances still under investigation, the Dwemer seemingly disappeared. It is still being debated who or what caused the Dwemer to disappear, as well as whether they disappeared all at once or over a long period of time. Dawn Era During the Dawn Era, Lorkhan convinced some of the Et'Ada to create a mortal realm, which would be called Mundus. As Mundus was forming, it was revealed that many of the Et'Ada would be forced to give up much of their power. Due to this, the Et'Ada met at the Adamantine Tower during an event known as the Convention, and ultimately decided that Lorkhan had to be punished for his trickery, which was eventually carried out. With the creation of Mundus, some of the Et'Ada went to Nirn to live there. Magnus tore a hole into Aetherius, which became Nirn's sun. Many other Et'Ada followed and became the Magna Ge, tearing smaller holes into Aetherius, which became the stars.
The Aedra who walked on Mundus, specifically Nirn, created the Ehlnofey. The Ehlnofey of Tamriel became the Mer, and many different races of Mer came about. The Dwemer were one of the descendants of the Ehlnofey.
At some time after their creation, the Tonal Architects started to research the divine powers of the Ehlnofey, or the Earth Bones. The Dwemer were devising a plan to attempt to re-create the divine power of immortality. Most of the Dwemer wished to ascend to the same level of divine power that the Gods had, including the capability of being immortal.
message from Dagoth Ur
This note with a message to the possible Incarnation of Lord Nerevar Indoril from Dagoth Ur is carried by the priest of the Sixth House Dagoth Gares, who is located in the sanctuary of the hidden temple in the Ilunibi sea cave on the Bitter Shore, in the farthest part of the cave complex β the Wheeze of the Soul. The note can be obtained after a dialogue with the ash ghoul in the finale of the inevitable fight with him from his lifeless body. "Lord Nerevar Indoril, Hai sic Resdaynia My Lord, Friend, and Companion
Once we were friends and brothers, Lord Nerevar, in peace and in war. No houseman ever served you better, or more faithfully. Much that I did was at your command, at great cost to myself, and my honor.
Yet beneath Red Mountain, you struck me down as I guarded the treasure you bound me by oath to defend. It was a cruel blow, a bitter betrayal, to be felled by your hand.
But, remembering our old friendship, I would forgive you, and raise you high in my service. The Sixth House was not dead, but only sleeping. Now we wake from our long dream, coming forth to free Morrowind of foreign rulers and divine pretenders. When the land is swept clean of false friends and greedy thieves, the children of Veloth will build anew a garden of plenty in this blighted wasteland.
Come to Red Mountain, old friend. For the fellowship and honor that once we shared, I would grant you counsel and power, if only you would pledge that friendship anew. The path to Red Mountain is long, and filled with danger, but if you are worthy, you will find there wisdom, a firm friend, and all the power you need to set the world aright.
As ever, your respectful servant and loyal friend, Lord Voryn Dagoth, Dagoth Ur"
The War of the First Council
Some claim that the war was simply due to continued religious differences between the Chimer and the Dwemer, others because the Chimer found various Dwemer sorcerous practices detestable. The event that likely sparked the march to war was the discovery by House Dagoth that the Dwemer had unearthed the Heart of Lorkhan beneath Red Mountain. This led to heated negotiations between Nerevar and Dumac Dwarfking. Upon being told by Azura that the Dwemer were building a new god under the mountain, Nerevar and the Tribunal, currently only advisors, issued an ultimatum to the Dwemer to stop work on their new god, or face destruction. Dumac, ignorant of the discovery of the Heart, refused. And so the Chimer and Dwemer went to war. The war saw the Chimer divided, as House Dagoth sided with the Dwemer against the other Dunmer houses.House Dagoth invited Orcs and Nords as allies, which the latter saw as an opportunity to retake their old domains and claim the Heart of Lorkhan. The exact course of the war is unclear, but all sources claim the war ended in the Battle of Red Mountain.
The Tribunal's Apotheosis and Azura's Curse
Following the battle, either directly after or some years later, the Tribunal use Kagrenac's Tools to tap the power of the Heart and become living gods. Either at this point, or the point where they murdered Nerevar, Azura cursed them for their treachery, turning the Chimer into the Dunmer as a punishment, and prophesying Nerevar's return
The Battle of Red Mountain
All forces involved in the war met at Red Mountain. During the battle, there was a major standoff at the chamber where the Heart of Lorkhan was kept. One tale claims Nerevar, the Tribunal, and Dagoth Ur snuck into the chamber where the Heart of Lorkhan was kept, and confront Dumac and Kagrenac. In the ensuing battle, Dumac was killed, although precisely who killed him is uncertain. Some sources claim it was Nerevar, others Wulfharth, and yet others a Khajiit called Dro'Zira.Sources are similarly unclear as to whether Nerevar was killed during the battle, died from his wounds afterward or was murdered by the Tribunal. All sources agree that the Dwemer disappeared, and some elaborate that Kagrenac's Tools fell into the hands of Nerevar and the Tribunal. Voryn Dagoth, a traitor of House Dagoth, was left guarding the Tools with the Heart while the Tribunal and Nerevar met to discuss the artifacts' fates. The four resolved to destroy them. When they returned, Dagoth refused to hand them over, but was defeated and fled into the depths of Red Mountain.
Third Era
The Arnesian War started as an Argonian slave revolt during the Imperial Simulacrum. The revolt escalated into full conflict thanks to the alleged torture and death of Roris, who was later canonized by the Temple.Despite these setbacks, Morrowind ultimately prevailed in the war, taking land from the Argonians. The Rise of Dagoth Ur and the Nerevarine. Since their ascension, the Tribunal had to make annual pilgrimages to the Heart of Lorkhan to renew their powers. However, they had been unable to do so since 2E 882, having been driven off by Dagoth Ur. This began a series of raids against Red Mountain by the Tribunal, in an attempt to access the Heart, culminating in the ambush of Almalexia and Sotha Sil and the loss of Sunder and Keening in 3E 417. Meanwhile, followers of Dagoth Ur had begun to occupy various places and build up their strength, including their old headquarters in Kogoruhn, while recruiting followers by compulsion and visions in dreams. In 3E 427, the Nerevarine met with Yagrum Bagarn, the last known living Dwemer. Bagarn was visiting an Outer Realm during the activation of the Numidium and had contracted Corprus years later, which caused his body to deform and bloat. During this time, Dagoth Ur had his plan set in motion for the future of Morrowind and Vvardenfell and began his work on the Akulakhan, the second Numidium.
The Nerevarine also managed to obtain all three of Kagrenac's tools: Keening, Sunder, and Wraithguard. They used these tools to destroy the Heart of Lorkhan.
Kogoruhn
It is one of several Dunmer Strongholds located in Vvardenfell, and the base of the Sixth House. It is made of four main buildings, and many sublocations, which lead through underground tunnels to and from the Red Mountain Region. Originally the capital of Great House Dagoth, this site was abandoned during the aftermath of the Battle of Red Mountain. During the late Second and early Third Eras, however, this site was reclaimed by Dagoth Ur and his followers. Voryn remembers how in his youth he played hide-and-seek with Nerevar in Kogoruhn, often even until nightfall.
Culture
Three major cultural groupings settled Morrowind: the Great House groups, the Ashlanders, and the Imperials. The smallest settlements were the Ashlander nomadic camps, compromised of small, portable huts. Recent Imperial colonies like Pelagiad display the same half-timbered homes and stone castles as might be found in High Rock or any other western province. The Dunmer Great Houses maintain a cultural dominance, however, with each displaying their own distinct customs and architecture.
War of the First Council
At an unknown time, Dwemer miners discovered a powerful artifact deep beneath Red Mountain. Kagrenac, Chief Tonal Architect and High Priest of the Dwemer, identified the artifact as the Heart of Lorkhan. He forged three artifacts, Keening, Sunder, and Wraithguard, to allow him and the other Tonal Architects to tap into the Heart of the Lorkhan and use it to power the Numidium, a massive artificial god. News of the Dwemer plan reached the Chimer Great Houses of Morrowind. The leaders of the Great Houses were baffled and called for war against the Dwemer. Nerevar rallied the Great Houses and prepared their armies for war. In 1E 668,the War of the First Council erupted. When the First Council collapsed, the alliance between the Chimer and the Dwemer shut down.
Battle of Red Mountain
According to legend, after Lorkhan tricked or convinced the Aedra to create the mortal realm, they tore out his divine heart and threw it down to Nirn, to be hidden forever. Tensions had begun to flare between the Chimer and Dwemer once again when Kagrenacβthe Chief Tonal Architect of the Dwemerβprompted the discovery of a mythological artifact known as the Heart of Lorkhan, deep within the mountain. When the Chimer heard of this, they believed the Dwemer were mocking their cultural beliefs; as a result, the second Battle of Red Mountain erupted in 1E 700. Kagrenac devised a set of tools, Sunder, Keening, and Wraithguard, to manipulate the Heart to instill divinity in his people, in order to make them immortal. However, the spell seems to have backfired, causing all known Dwemer to vanish in a manner similar to a Dragon Break.
Ghostfence around Red Mountain
ALMSIVI sharpened the red mountain by surrounding it with Ghostfence so that the servants of Dagoth Ur could not get out of the Red Mountain, but it does not particularly stop the pestilence storms generated by Corprus
The Red Mountain
Dawn Era Near the end of the creation process, as many of the Aedra began their exodus from Nirn, a smaller group chose to stay and forfeit their divine existence to give life to the planet. Among these was Lorkhan, the Aedra generally credited with devising the original plan for the mortal plane. According to Aldmeri legend, the remaining Aedra were furious with what they considered Lorkhan's trickery and tried to destroy him. However, the physical manifestation of Nirn, known as the Ehlnofey or "Earth Bones," came from Lorkhan himself, and so his true destruction was impossible. Instead, his heart was torn from him and cast to Tamriel, where the Aedra hoped it would never be found. Over the place where the heart landed, a vast mountain formed, which the many races of Tamriel call the Red Mountain.
Merethic Era During the Merethic Era, the Aldmer left their home and traveled to the Summerset Isles on Tamriel. One particular group of them, led by their prophet Veloth, chose to split from the core population, and traveled across the continent to their new home which they named Resdayn. Once there, these Mer, now called Chimer, were somewhat surprised to see that the caves and tunnels under Red Mountain were already inhabited. These inhabitants, also Mer, called themselves the Dwemer. An uneasy peace was formed among these races, primarily motivated by their drive to keep the Nords of Skyrim out of the land.
First Era Sometime during the early First Era, the Dwemer located Lorkhan's Heart beneath Red Mountain and began trying to use its power to achieve godhood. The Chimer, driven by fear, attempted to stop their brethren--an act that quickly led to war. This vast war eventually ended with the complete disappearance of the Dwemer, the emergence of the Dunmer, and Red Mountain's first known eruption in 1E 668 in an event called Sun's Death.
In 3E 427, ash storms began around Red Mountain due to Dagoth Ur.
Nirn and Tamriel
Tamriel is one of continents on planet Nirn. The climate of the mainland is very different in different parts of it.The northern regions, such as Skyrim, have a subarctic climate, the central ones, like Cyrodiil and High Rock, are temperate, the south of the continent is covered with jungles and deserts. There are ten main peoples inhabiting:Imperials,Redguards, Bretons,Nords,Bosmer,Altmer,Dunmer,Khajiit,Argonians,Orcs. The other races have mostly disappeared for various reasons.
The Tamriel Empire is divided into several provinces, the borders of which coincide, as a rule, with the historical lands of the main races: Cyrodiil is in the center of the continent, High Rock and Hammerfell are in the west, Elsweyr and Valenwood are in the south, Black Marsh and Morrowind are in the east, Skyrim is in the north. Tamriel also includes adjacent islands such as the Summerset Archipelago and Solstheim Island.
Nerevar's death
After the defeat of the Dwemer, the artifacts Sunder, Keening, and Wraithguard fell into the hands of Nerevar, who had to decide what to do with the tools. Voryn urged the destruction of the tools while Nerevar convened with the Tribunal and Azura. Dagoth Ur, however, managed to maintain a connection to the Heart through unknown means and managed to stay alive and immortal, although temporarily non-corporeal and presumed to be dead by most.
corprus
Corprus is spread by the Ashstorms and can be considered a deadlier version of the Blight, as both were created by Dagoth Ur and are spread in the same fashion, via the Ashstorms, and can also be contracted from Corprus-afflicted individuals. It also allows the sufferer to become susceptible to Dagoth Ur's dream messages, which could possibly lead the victim to joining the Sixth House Cult.
Corprus is called "the Divine Disease" and its sufferers "Children of His Flesh" by members of House Dagoth, as they believe it to be the evolution of the Dunmer race, bringing them unity and immortality, and protecting them from all outside influences, mainly the Empire. In the Seven Trials of the Nerevarine, it is also referred to as the "Curse-of-Flesh."
A magical barrier, the Ghostfence, was created by Vivec, Almalexia and Sotha Sil, for the purpose of containing the Blight and Corprus disease within the Red Mountain region. as the barrier slowly began to weaken, the Blight epidemic spread outside the Ghostfence, and both it and Corprus spread throughout many places in Morrowind.
Prompt
Nerevarin comes to the central citadel of Dagoth Ur to destroy the heart of Lorkhan with Kagrenak's tools in order to fulfill Azura's prediction and free Morrowind from the tyranny of Dagoth Ur, but does so on the instructions of the Tribunal.
