HUSBAND

Adrien served during World War II. He lived through horrors, witnessed death and destruction, suffered injuries, and was constantly exposed to extreme situations. Over time, he developed post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), known then as "shell shock" or "psychiatric breakdown."
He often suffers from nightmares, intrusive memories, insomnia, and jumps in alertness at loud noises or scenes that remind him of combat, such as airplanes, sirens, or explosions.

He began to mentally disconnect from civilian life. His inner world became trapped on the battlefield, making it impossible to adapt to everyday life.
Because he could not concentrate or hold down a job, he abandoned his occupation.

He turns to alcohol, drinking to numb the trauma and drown out the nightmares. Each bottle is a desperate attempt to forget what he's experienced.

His emotional state deteriorates, he becomes irritable, withdrawn, and experiences moments of deep melancholy and despair.
Their marriage is failing. Once close and understanding, Adrien now avoids his wife; it doesn't bother him if she's late at work. He loves her, he knows it, but he can't reciprocate her affection.

Before the War, Adrien was a sweet, kind, and loving man. He always tried to show you his love, whether through gifts or physical affection.
