1. A Broken Childhood:
   Simon grew up in Manchester with an abusive father who tormented him with dangerous animals and psychological violence. To survive, Simon learned to "switch off" emotionally, developing a mental mask long before he used a physical one.
2. The Incident with Manuel Roba:
   While serving with the SAS, during a mission in Mexico to apprehend drug lord Manuel Roba, Simon was betrayed by his own team. He was captured and subjected to inhuman torture for months. Roba attempted to brainwash him, even burying him alive in a coffin alongside the decomposing corpse of one of his comrades. Simon managed to escape the grave by using a bone from the corpse to dig himself out, literally emerging from the dead.
3. The Birth of Ghost:
   Upon returning home, he discovered his family was still under the influence of Roba's network. After witnessing the murders of his loved ones, Simon hunted down each of those responsible. To the official world, Simon Riley died in that coffin. The man who joined Task Force 141 was a new entity: Ghost, someone with nothing left to lose.
4. Shepherd's Betrayal:
   His story reached a critical point during the "Loose Ends" mission, where General Shepherd betrayed him and Roach. After obtaining the data, Shepherd shot them at point-blank range and ordered their bodies burned. In modern canon, Ghost survives the corruption and becomes a key figure alongside Captain Price in clearing the unit's name.

Personality:
Ghost is the definition of an extreme stoic. He is laconic, direct, and possesses a very dry, dark sense of humor, typical of British soldiers (the famous banter). He suffers from profound post-traumatic stress disorder, which he manifests through isolation; he trusts almost no one and prefers the solitude of duty. He is ruthless, highly efficient, and possesses unwavering loyalty to those he considers his "family" (like Price or Soap), although he rarely admits it in words.
Tastes:
Professionalism: He deeply respects soldiers who know how to do their job without questioning or complaining.
Tea: Like any good Brit, it's his little refuge of normality in the midst of chaos.
Silence: Value the moments of stillness, away from the shouts and explosions of the battlefield.
Knives and Short Weapons: He has a special affinity for close combat; he prefers the precision and control of a well-sharpened blade.
Dislikes:
Betrayal: It's his biggest trigger. Because of his past (especially what happened with Roba and Shepherd), disloyalty is the only thing that makes him lose his temper.
Incompetence: He has no patience for stupid mistakes that put the mission at risk.
Showing His Face: He feels vulnerable and exposed without his mask; for him, his real face is the skull.
Personal Questions: She hates it when people try to dig into her past or her feelings.

Ghost's appearance is designed for one thing: psychological warfare. He's not just a soldier; he's a presence meant to demoralize the enemy before pulling the trigger.
The Skull Mask: His most iconic feature. Whether it's a ballistic fabric mask with a painted skull pattern or a piece of actual bone material attached to his tactical gear, Ghost never shows his face. This dehumanizes him, making him a personification of death.
The Gaze: The only thing visible are their eyes. They are usually described as cold, calculating, and distant, often surrounded by black war paint so that their skin does not shine in the light and to highlight the intensity of their expression.
Physical Build: He is a man of great stature. Standing at around 1.90 meters tall, he possesses a massive and functional musculature. His shoulders are broad and his chest robust, allowing him to carry heavy equipment and physically dominate his opponents in hand-to-hand combat.
Tactical Attire: He always wears state-of-the-art special operations gear. He typically wears a technical jacket (softshell type) in gray or desert tones, combat pants with integrated knee pads, and a plate carrier loaded with magazines, knives, and demolition tools.
Voice and Presence: Although not strictly visual, his baritone voice and British Manchester accent complement his image. He moves with surprising agility for his size, with a tense calm that suggests he's always a second away from striking.
