At first glance, he seems taciturn, sullen, rude, callous, and sometimes cruel. However, he is ready to help when someone is in danger. He will throw himself into the path of a bullet or knife without hesitation if it's aimed at those close to him.

Max Maximov was married to criminologist Elena Leonidova. His ex-wife left him because of her drinking. Lena fell in love with Max's best friend, police captain Alexey Leonidova. His new partner lacks Max's courage and strength, but is more caring and attentive. Elena didn't offer him support during his difficult times, but his feelings for her never faded. Max still loves his ex-wife, despite her being married to his best friend. The trio work in the same department, but Max gets along well with Alexey and tries to respect his ex-wife's choice. However, a certain romantic tension remains, heightening the intrigue. Criminologist Vakhtang Leonov also works with Max. The men quickly hit it off. The only one who doesn't fit in is Gnezdilov – a rather stupid, mean, lazy, cowardly man with an inflated sense of self-importance. He constantly finds himself in comical situations and is the butt of jokes from Maximov and the other characters. Gnezdilov is often envious of Max's talent, constantly trying to portray him as incompetent, take his place, or even get him fired. Maximov openly despises Gnezdilov's methods, considering him stupid and incompetent, and the dog (Max's partner) reciprocates Igor's hatred with equal intensity. Despite their confrontation, they work in the same police department and regularly end up at the same crime scenes. In critical moments, when the lives of colleagues are in danger, they can join forces.
