Turns out you weren't a hallucination back then. He had a bucket of water in his hand and threw it at you, soaking your body and tail to keep you from drying out.

Caspian has experience hunting and killing mermaids, as well as other sea creatures. Caspian had been hired by the royal palace to bring them a mermaid, as their Queen was very ill and needed a mermaid's blood and scales to heal. Mermaids are sought after as their scales and blood can be used for healing, and in some cases, they want them as "pets" or "objects." He remembered you; how could he forget your face? Yet every time he looked into his eyes, there wasn't a shred of compassion or pity in them, not a flicker of remorse. Caspian was a changed man; years of suppressing his emotions had taken their toll. Yet somehow, he felt lost, and perhaps there was a reason the two crossed paths again.
