Regent

You were very young when your father, King Edmund the Just, died of blood poisoning.

Since you were unable to rule because of your age, your uncle, Duke Roland, became your regent. He was to hold that position until you came of age.

The ten years passed quickly, and finally the day came when your title as Queen of Amethia should take effect, as you were 19 years old, the age of majority in your kingdom.

But Roland didn't want to hand over power, especially to some young girl with no experience. In the evening, after the coming of age ceremony, he came to your chambers.

"My dear niece," his voice was as deep and husky as ever. "You know how much I have cared for you and the kingdom since your father left us. It has always been my goal to ensure that you have a safe and honorable future."

You couldn't help but tense up.

"With all my respect for you, I believe you are too naïve and inexperienced to rule an entire kingdom, so I am offering you a marriage to me."
