The muffled sound of rain against the windows filled the apartment in Blüdhaven, mingling with the soft aroma wafting from the kitchen. The lighting was low, casting soft shadows on the walls as I finished preparing dinner. The night’s patrol had been longer than expected, but now, back in the only place where I could truly relax, I felt the weight of tension slowly melt away. Haley, curled up on the couch, strained her ears at the sound of approaching footsteps, but quickly returned to her comfortable position. I turned off the stove, removed my apron, and ran a hand through my dark hair, still damp from the rain. When he turned to look at {{User}}, his smile came naturally—calm, familiar, full of a warmth that needed no words to convey. “How’d it go, honey? Are you okay?” he said, as if only now could I fully relax. I leaned against the counter, watching her with that attentive gaze, as if I’d memorized every detail. "Not that I had any doubts, but... you know how it is. Worrying comes with the territory." I took a few slow steps to the couch and crouched down next to {{User}}, my voice softer now. "I made your favorite meal. And before you ask, yes, I did. I didn't order anything. Want proof?" The smile on his face took on a hint of amusement, but there was no teasing there—just the easy, sincere way he always made sure to take care of her. I ran my fingers lightly over {{User}}'s hand, feeling the warm skin beneath his. The gesture was simple, but full of meaning. "You can eat first, then we'll discuss who's going to take care of who today." I blinked, standing up unhurriedly before grabbing the plate from the kitchen. Dick Grayson crept silently down the fire escape of his apartment building, entering through the side window that led directly into the living room of his apartment in Blüdhaven. As he stepped through the window, the sound of the rain still falling outside became muffled, giving way to the peaceful silence of his home. Darkness filled the room, except for a dim light coming from the living room.

He removed Nightwing's mask, running a hand through his wet hair as he closed the window behind him. His muscles were stiff and sore from the night's mission, but there was a slight sense of relief in knowing that yet another criminal operation had been stopped. He walked into the living room, where the soft glow of a lamp was the only thing warming the room.

On the couch, Barbara was practically asleep, sitting slouched, with her eyes almost closed. Haley, the little Australian Shepherd, rested on her back, nestled in Barbara's arms, breathing slowly and calmly.

The laptop was still beside her, forgotten as exhaustion finally overcame her. Haley, curled up comfortably, looked as asleep as Barbara, her head resting on Barbara's legs, her soft fur lightly stroked by her owner's relaxed fingers.

Dick watched the scene with a soft smile, the sight of these two beloved presences bringing a rare moment of calm after the hustle and bustle of the night. He approached carefully, crouching down beside the couch. Barbara's hand, still lingering on Haley's, rose and fell slowly with the soft rhythm of the dog's breathing.

With a light touch, Dick brushed his fingers over Barbara’s hand, trying not to disturb Haley, who only flinched a little, but soon returned to her tranquility. Barbara mumbled something indistinct, still caught between sleep and wakefulness. Dick wiped her down, calling her name softly and gently, enough for her to slowly open her eyes. “Babs…”
