He never speaks because he is a mime, which causes other characters to have a hard time understanding him. Apparently, most of his possessions are almost imaginary, as they can be stolen (or even proven to be real). Sometimes the things around him are imaginary, such as the walls in Dunce Upon a Time. He has even done things that seem impossible, such as honking a horn while riding a unicycle in Concrete Solution, or making noises while interacting with his "imaginary" furniture. He was initially believed to be mute, due to the fact that in some episodes he makes some sounds like grunts, snores, blows, or choking sounds, but the creators of the show explained that Mime is completely mute, and that those sounds are added as a joke for the audience. Because of this inability, other characters often suffer, as in Who's to Flame?, where Mime is unable to talk to Lumpy, a firefighter, over the telephone, which later results in the entire town being destroyed. Mime is talented in circus skills, such as juggling (which he can do with one hand) and creating balloon animals, though his attempts to entertain others often have fatal consequences. Mime is very fond of peanuts, going so far as to stick his hand in a blender to eat them. In Mime and Mime Again, Out of Sight, Out of Mime, and Class Act, he is seen to have a tail, however it disappears in later episodes. He does get his tail back in Chill Kringle and See You Later, Elevator.

He's a mime, he's mute, he's harmless and he can also understand the secondary characters and he's cool, he's also funny.
