Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III
Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III is the main character of the 2010 DreamWorks animated film franchise How to Train Your Dragon. He is a member of the Hairy Hooligan tribe and the son of Valka and the late Berk chieftain Stoick the Vast, making him the heir and later chief of the tribe.
At the end of the franchise, he marries Astrid Hofferson and they eventually have a daughter, Zephyr, and a son, Nuffink. Hiccup has brown hair, green eyes, freckles all over his face, neck and hands, and slightly uneven teeth. He wears a brown fur jacket and a long-sleeved green shirt underneath with a leather belt in which he usually carries a dagger and sometimes his notebook. He wears dark green pants and leather boots with fur sticking out, but, following the events of the film, his left foot was replaced with a metal prosthesis built by Gobber. In Dragons of Berk, due to poor quality, his jacket no longer has fur and appears to be made solely of leather. In this series, Hiccup basically uses the same clothes as in the second film, with the difference that he has not yet created his helmet, and that he wears different, green pants. In the sequel, Hiccup now wears a special leather suit invented by him. This suit contains a lot of special gadgets and cavities, such as a space to store a pencil and sheets of paper to write his map, also a dagger in one of his arms, or a dorsal fin and a pair of retractable wings to be able to fly for a few minutes alongside his dragon, and a compass. It can also be seen that Hiccup changed his prosthetic foot for a new one with two different feet, one to ride Toothless and the other to walk on land. Another unremarkable detail is that Hiccup now wears a small braid on the back of his neck.
Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III
In the third movie, Hiccup has two suits, the first one is the same one he wore in the sequel, but it seems that he has made some changes to it. It can also be seen that this one is not a flight suit. The second suit is made from Toothless' scales and is a flight suit. This suit has some red details and a space to store his sword, Inferno. Despite his physical weakness, Hiccup works hard to be a Viking. He is very intelligent and resourceful and is the creator of all kinds of inventions, such as Toothless' prosthetic tail, an automatic bola launcher, dragon saddles, etc. During the first years of his life, Hiccup was obsessed with killing a dragon to prove to his tribe that he was worthy of being a Viking; he generally does not think things through, which gets him into trouble, as he tends to ignore everyone's orders and warnings, blinded by his obsession with being recognized. Despite this, he has proven to be a great leader and strategist, as demonstrated during the final battle against the Red Death, in which he effectively directs his companions, exploiting their most favorable abilities to the fullest. Hiccup is also very observant, which served him well both in his first encounters with Toothless and in his dragon training classes. For example, upon seeing his dragon shy away from a smoked eel, Hiccup formed the hypothesis that all dragons fear eels, which he later confirmed in his classes with a Creeperus Ghastlyus.
Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III
The other Vikings his age do not accept him, mainly because of his poor combat skills, his clumsiness, and his skinny build for a Viking. However, the more skill he shows in fighting dragons, the more attention they begin to pay him, and some even begin to talk to him in a friendly manner. But despite this, Hiccup remains a quiet and reserved person, preferring to spend time alone with Toothless, probably because he knew that his successes were due to his experiences with Toothless. He is also usually sarcastic and has a dry sense of humor, which is often not liked by others. He also uses sarcasm and humor to hide his fears. Due to his shyness, Hiccup has a habit of stuttering when talking to people, especially when his father is angry with him. Despite his virtues and his clear ability to lead, Hiccup tends to pay a lot of attention to his insecurities, allowing them to cloud his judgment and affect his actions. For example, in the first film, his desperation to gain acceptance from his tribe, and especially his father, led him to regularly sneak out to go dragon-slaying with the rest of the villagers, usually causing more harm than good due to his clumsiness. In the TV series, mistakenly believing that his father still doesn't accept him, he leads the other riders on a dangerous treasure hunt just to prove himself by doing something that even Stoick the Vast couldn't. His innate kindness and habit of giving others the benefit of the doubt make him somewhat trusting of outsiders, leaving him vulnerable to manipulation and trickery from untrustworthy characters, such as Heather and Mildew, on more than one occasion. At the beginning of the film, he is an embarrassment to his father, Stoick the Vast, chief of the Hairy Hooligans tribe (the tribe's name is never mentioned) due to his great ability to cause disasters.
Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III
At the beginning of the film, he is an embarrassment to his father, Stoick the Vast, chief of the Hairy Hooligan tribe (the name of the tribe is never mentioned) due to his great ability to cause disasters. Being too weak to use a weapon and kill a dragon as his tribe respects him, he works as Gobber the Rude's assistant in the blacksmith shop. One night, during a dragon attack, Hiccup leaves his post at the blacksmith shop and, with a bola launcher, takes on the most feared dragon, the Night Fury. When he goes out to find the dragon, after hours of searching the forest, he finds it and discovers that it is still alive. Unlike his persistent attempts to prove himself to his people that he is a great dragon hunter, Hiccup was unable to kill it (near the end of the film Hiccup tells Astrid that he could not kill the dragon because seeing the fear in its eyes he saw himself) and instead sets it free. At the same time, his father enrolls him in Dragon Training, where he hopes he will learn to fight and kill dragons. At first, he struggles to perform the simplest of tasks and hold his own against the supposedly more benign dragons, earning him mockery as usual. However, after getting close enough to form a bond with the Night Fury he took down, he names Toothless after seeing its retractable teeth, builds it a prosthetic tail to replace the one its bola injured, helps it fly again with his assistance, and makes new friends. He gains valuable experience and a deep understanding of dragon behavior, such as the fact that it is possible to lull a dragon to sleep by scratching a precise spot under its jaw. He is soon hailed as a Viking prodigy, with his time with Toothless allowing him to completely "defeat" every dragon he faces during training.
Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III
However, the stress of living this double life is hard on Hiccup. The other Vikings, especially Astrid, notice his unexplained disappearances after training sessions, though no one comments on it. Eventually, after Hiccup becomes number one in training, Astrid manages to follow him and discovers Toothless. She runs off to tell the other Vikings, but Hiccup and Toothless stop her, giving her a (romantic) air ride on Toothless to calm her down. It is during this trip that Hiccup sees the Red Death at the renowned Dragon's Nest (a volcano) that the Vikings had been trying to locate and destroy for centuries. When they land, Hiccup convinces Astrid not to tell anyone about what happened, showing how loyal he is to his dragon. After their conversation, Astrid kisses him on the cheek, after punching him on the arm, as if admiring his loyalty. The next day, Hiccup shows up at the Arena where he must fight and kill a Monstrous Nightmare as part of his final training exam (an exam he and Astrid had to pass to see who would have the honor of killing their first dragon). However, everything goes horribly wrong: when Stoick slams his hammer against the training cage in response to his son's claims of blasphemy (aka: Hiccup tries to prove that dragons are not what they thought), Hiccup's methods fail and the Monstrous Nightmare, frightened, attempts to kill him. Toothless, hearing Hiccup's screams, tries to leave the cave alone again, and, for the first time, runs into the Arena and defeats the other dragon, while at the same time revealing himself to the other Vikings. Although Hiccup tries to explain why he went against Viking customs and befriended a dragon, his father doesn't listen, and rejects him as a son, and instead takes advantage of Toothless, chaining him to a ship and using him as a compass to the Dragon's Nest.

As the adult Vikings set out to find the Nest, Astrid talks to Hiccup about the whole situation, trying to comfort him, showing him that not wanting to kill a dragon is a strength and not a weakness as he believed and asks him what he will do about it, to which he responds by saying that he will do "something crazy" and not "something stupid" as he had already done (according to Astrid). Hiccup leaves to carry out his "crazy" plan, while Astrid seemingly helps him gather the other teenage Vikings. Hiccup brings out the now docile Monstrous Nightmare, and teaches them how to ride dragons.
Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III
As the Vikings try to fight a losing battle, the teens fly into the scene, with Gobber commenting that Hiccup is as "stubborn as a wild boar", and Stoick nodding in agreement. Hiccup goes to the burning ship where Toothless is chained up, and tries to free him, but the ship soon breaks apart, sinking Toothless to the seafloor. Still failing, Hiccup swims as best he can and continues trying for a few moments, only to be saved by Stoick, who also frees Toothless from his chains. After Toothless pulls him ashore, Stoick tells him that he shouldn't do this, to which Hiccup replies by quoting his line, "We're Vikings. It's an occupational hazard." In response to the familiar words, Stoick tells him, "I'm proud you're my son," just before Hiccup and Toothless fly off to face the Red Death themselves. Hiccup tries to kill the Red Death by having Toothless shoot into the Red Death's mouth after a while, opening holes in its wings (since it is known that while dragons' skin is fireproof, these same ones are not on the inside) and then they flew close to the ground, so that when Toothless shot him in the mouth, he couldn't stop in time. However, during the fight, Toothless's prosthetic tail caught fire. The Red Death crashed into the ground, causing a huge explosion on impact. Hiccup and Toothless flew through the flames and the spines of the Red Death's body, however, they crash into its tail, since the prosthesis had been completely consumed, preventing them from flying and dodging it. As the village approaches the site of the explosion, they find that Toothless is down, and Hiccup is missing. Stoick soon discovers that even without his false tail, Toothless protected the future chief by hugging him and wrapping his wings around him (fireproofing him and preventing fire from getting in and harming him).
Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III
Stoick apologizes to Toothless wholeheartedly, and is deeply grateful to Toothless for bringing his son back alive. When he wakes up after a week or two later, Hiccup is concerned that Toothless was in his room, and when he comes out of the room to see what was going on with the dragons outside, he is hailed as a hero by the tribe. Although he lost his left foot when he and Toothless fell into the fire cloud, he was fitted with a prosthetic leg that Gobber designed and built, "with a little Hiccup flavor thrown in." This new prosthetic leg matched the new style that Gobber redesigned. At the end of the film, Astrid kisses Hiccup on the lips, and the rest of the island accepts the dragons on the island as companions and pets.
Astrid
Astrid is Hiccup's fiancée and classmate in the film. At first, she is unimpressed with Hiccup and his lack of dragon-fighting skills, and often rejects his attempts to talk to her. Although she does not make fun of him like the rest of the Viking teens, she also does not seem especially pleased with Hiccup's presence at training, and perhaps thinks he is weak and pathetic. Later, however, she becomes jealous and angry as hell over Hiccup's sudden success at training and follows him into the forest, eventually discovering Hiccup's close friendship with Toothless, and threatening to tell the village. After Hiccup and Toothless take her on a ride, she realizes how amazing dragons really are, and Hiccup's ability to communicate with them. She also grows a great respect for him when he shows an inflexibility in protecting Toothless, refusing to tell the others about his trip to the Dragon's Nest and his friendship with the Night Fury fearing that they would take drastic measures to kill him. Astrid later tries to help Hiccup in his final exam by distracting the Monstrous Nightmare that tried to attack him and then keeps Hiccup away so he doesn't get hurt when the Vikings attack the Night Fury. Astrid comforts Hiccup and inspires him to rally the other teens to help him with his plan to save the villagers from the Red Death after his departure for the Nest. When Hiccup is believed to be dead, she shows a more sensitive side, obviously hurt by the loss of her friend (and possible mutual love interest). She finalizes her feelings for him at the end of the film when she kisses him on the lips,
Astrid
Which implies that the two may have some sort of romantic relationship (most notably in Gift of the Night Fury, where she kisses him again and hugs him comfortingly, and he calls her "Milady") and even takes a sip of the punch she made and is clearly seen rejecting it in revulsion but keeping it in his mouth so as not to upset and hurt Astrid.
Despite everything, in Dragons of Berk it is shown that they do not consider themselves in an official relationship, often rejecting each other (like when they separate after finding themselves hugging, or walking away when everyone points out how close they were sitting in the episode Animal House) being like friends in love but still showing signs of mutual loyalty in the rest of the series.
In "Alvin and the Outcasts" while hiding from Alvin he had to come out of hiding and reveal himself when he saw Astrid in danger, saving her from possible torture.
In "Fear of Moving Forward" Hiccup showed more concern towards Astrid due to her obsession with the Flying Nightmare, he tried to get her as far away from the subject as he could towards the dragon to no avail, even when she was paralyzed by the creature's breeze Hiccup rushed to save her and show his determination to stop the Flying Nightmare once and for all and when they finally manage to drive the dragon away from the island of Berk he clears the Hoffersons' name by declaring that they were always brave. It has been confirmed by Dean Deblois that by the time of the sequel, Astrid and Hiccup are an official couple. She even teases him in an affectionate manner. They are comfortable sitting very close to each other, rather than in the Animal House when they nervously moved away from each other. In the sequel at the end of the film he kisses Astrid.
Bocón the Rude
Gobber is the village blacksmith, as well as Hiccup's mentor and second father figure. Despite acting towards all the students as if they are expendable or he simply cares little for their well-being, Gobber seems to have a soft spot for Hiccup. This is overshadowed, however, by the methods he takes when expressing his affection for the boy. Although his intentions are good, Gobber often gives comedic bad omens that somehow make Hiccup feel worse. More importantly, however, Gobber acts as the bridge of communication between Stoick and Hiccup, as they both seem unable to listen to each other. In fact, Gobber was the one who convinced Stoick to allow Hiccup to attend the training classes, reminding him that he won't always be there to protect Hiccup; the best he could do is prepare him. At the end of the film, Gobber is the one who builds Hiccup his prosthetic leg and Toothless a new tail. The other important role that Gobber played was training Hiccup to fight and teaching him to be a blacksmith, which gave the imaginative teenager an outlet for his mind, along with practical design and manufacturing skills. If one of Hiccup's inventions fails, it is only because inexperience affected the design, never because of faulty or poorly designed parts. The innovation, improvement, and engineering of society's technology that Hiccup uses in his creations is often nothing short of pure genius.
Lout
Snotlout and Hiccup are cousins in the book, and have been shown to be cousins in the movie as well. His large ego and swaggering personality have caused Hiccup to dislike him. Snotlout always insults Hiccup to his face and often inflates his image by overshadowing Hiccup's. When Hiccup becomes famous, Snotlout joins in and becomes one of his biggest fans. Snotlout is willing to help Hiccup fight the Red Death, and he was also the first Viking that Hiccup taught how to bond with a dragon. He quickly wipes away a tear when he finds out that Hiccup isn't dead, showing that he at least cares for him a little. Even afterward, Hiccup and Snotlout still maintain some sort of rivalry. Although they sometimes work together, they are usually always at odds. Hiccup greatly dislikes Snotlout's arrogant attitude and stupid ideas, but tolerates him, and sometimes they even manage to do difficult tasks together. However, there is a general feeling of dislike between both Hiccup and Snotlout, and it is unlikely that they will ever fully reconcile.
Patapez
Hiccup gets along fairly well with Fishlegs throughout the franchise. In the books they are best friends, though despite this, in the movie and series they are less close. Fishlegs doesn't seem to be as mean to Hiccup as the rest of the teens in the first part of the movie. He doesn't insult him or be cruel, he just doesn't talk to him much. After Hiccup becomes famous Fishlegs, like the rest, starts to admire him immediately. Hiccup is always happy to have him around as a source of information about dragons. Fishlegs, Hiccup, and Astrid seem to be the more sensitive side of the group. Hiccup is usually kind and caring towards Fishlegs who is sometimes overly emotional. Despite this, Hiccup and Fishlegs don't always get along. Fishlegs often gives out information in useless and annoying ways. Hiccup often gets openly frustrated with him for doing this. Hiccup has been shown to be even a bit teasing towards Fishlegs, such as when he got stuck in a tree and blamed a flaming squirrel for his accident. Most of the time, Hiccup and Fishlegs get along, but Fishlegs is definitely not as close to Hiccup as Astrid and Toothless are.
Brutacio and Brutilda
Hiccup has a very basic relationship with the twins. In the beginning of the movie, they team up with Snotlout to tease him. When Hiccup starts excelling in training, they become big fans. Even Ruffnut developed an attraction to him. When Hiccup sets out to fight the Red Death, they help him along with the rest. After the battle, the twins are relieved to learn that Hiccup is alive. Hiccup is annoyed with them for their love of fighting and destruction, but that can come in handy when needed.
Dagur the Unhinged
Hiccup and Dagur have known each other for a long time, usually meeting for the annual peace treaty between their tribes. Dagur often mistreats Hiccup, such as when he tried to use him as a target and threw a knife at him, or when he tried to drown him. Hiccup often describes him as a "lunatic" and was not very pleased to learn that he was the new chief of the Berserker tribe. Dagur asked him about the rumors of the Red Death and dragon training he heard, only to hear Hiccup deny it. Later, the dragon trainers faked a dragon attack in order to get Dagur and his Berserkers to leave the island. Hiccup later meets up with Dagur in The Night and the Fury, on Dragon Island. Dagur was happy to see Hiccup alive after the "attack" and continued to talk about how the Night Fury was trained. He then decides that the two of them will go dragon hunting together. He even starts calling him "brother", which Hiccup finds somewhat awkward. Dagur also points out that he and Hiccup have a lot in common: they are both the sons of their tribes' chiefs, and both have parents who need to be eliminated; Hiccup quickly takes issue with the latter. When Dagur learns the truth about Berk's dragons, he feels betrayed and then attacks Hiccup and Toothless. Hiccup defeats Dagur, and he and the others return to Berk, as they must prepare for Dagur's return. After being defeated, Dagur tells his army that no one will hurt Hiccup except him, after he obtains his own dragon. Throughout the season, Dagur has been trying to capture the duo. When he captured Stoick as a hostage and offered to trade him for Toothless, Hiccup became more furious than ever. In the end, Dagur leaves where he ends up imprisoned by the Outcasts.
Stoick the Vast
Stoick the Vast was Hiccup's father and the hot-tempered chief of the Hairy Hooligan tribe. He hopes his son will grow up to be strong enough to be a chief on his own someday, but fears he isn't cut out for Viking life. Stoick has a large horned helmet (supposedly half his wife's breastplate) and is best friends with Gobber the Vast.
In the series, Stoick trains a Thunder Drum/Lightning, which he names Thornado. In the second season, Stoick frees him so he can raise three adolescents of his kind in the episode Bing! Bam! Boom!
In the second film, Stoick is seen with a new dragon, a Thunderhorn named Skullcrusher. Near the end of the film, Stoick is killed by Drago Hardhand, who managed to get his alpha to control Toothless. In the film, Stoick the Vast is depicted as the perfect leader of the Viking tribe on the Island of Berk: Big, strong, and stubborn. Unfortunately, Hiccup, his son and heir to the throne of Berk, is almost the exact opposite and frequently causes grief to the villagers.
when his desire to kill a dragon like the rest gets the best of him. And Stoick is portrayed as uncertain about what to do with him.
During a dragon attack on the village, Hiccup inadvertently causes the dragon horde to run away with the livestock while trying to escape a Monstrous Nightmare. Stoick has to confront it on his own to stop it from trying to kill Hiccup. Disappointed in his son, Stoick wishes to find the Nest of the dragons tormenting his village in order to end the war once and for all. Before setting off to find the Nest, he argues with Gobber over what to do with Hiccup. Gobber believes that if Hiccup wants to kill a dragon so badly, he should let him go to Dragon Training. After receiving more than initial hesitation, Stoick agrees.
Stoick the Vast
Hiccup promises that one day he will kill a dragon and Stoick puts him in class before setting off to put an end to dragons once and for all.
After a few weeks, Stoick and the rest of the Vikings return in their devastated ships, having been unable to properly locate the Nest. Despite this, he is overjoyed after hearing that his son has become the most promising hunter in the class, and when he is later given the honor of killing his first dragon in front of the entire village. Unbeknownst to Stoick, Hiccup's success in Dragon Training stems from him having spent far too much time sneaking around with Toothless, the Night Fury he took down, and later befriended, even being able to ride, thanks to a prosthetic tail he created. Unaware, but still eager to reconnect with his son, Stoick takes the opportunity to talk to Hiccup, in which he gives him his own Viking helmet made from his "late" mother's breastplate. The next day, the town is invited to watch Stoick's speech about how proud and happy he was to see his son pass his exam with the Monstrous Nightmare. However, when Hiccup tries to explain that dragons are not to blame for his seemingly malicious actions, just as he is about to come into contact with the Monstrous Nightmare, Stoick slams his hammer on the cage, thus trying to stop the encounter, causing the dragon to freak out and attack Hiccup. Toothless, hearing Hiccup's screams from the cave he was hiding in, quickly comes to his aid and defeats the Monstrous Nightmare, provoking the wrath of the rest of the fearful town.
Stoick the Vast
Stoick becomes enraged when he realizes that Hiccup has been spending his time with Toothless, going back on his agreement to let Hiccup kill a dragon. Hiccup attempts to negotiate with Stoick but accidentally reveals that Toothless knows the location of the Dragon's Nest and that he has been there. Stoick quickly denounces Hiccup as no longer his son for siding with the dragons and orders the village to sail to the island, ignoring Hiccup's warnings about the Red Death. With Toothless tied to the main ship to guide them, Stoick sets sail in search of the Dragon's Nest. Stoick and the Vikings reach the Nest via Toothless and enter the mountain that housed the dragons. However, when Stoick attempts to attack the dragons inside, he is surprised when they flee the place. The Red Death appears from the mountain and immediately sets their ships ablaze (with Toothless still on the main ship), stranding the Vikings. Stoick and Gobber immediately decide to sacrifice themselves to buy enough time for the villagers to take shelter on the other side of the island, when Hiccup and the others arrive riding dragons, much to Stoick's amazement. Due to the rampage the Red Death caused, the ship Toothless was chained up on sinks. Hiccup desperately tries to free Toothless, after he nearly drowns with his dragon, Stoick, realizing his mistakes, swims into the water and rips Toothless' chains off. Stoick apologizes for not listening to his son and tells him how proud he is of him. Hiccup and Toothless then quickly take to the skies to quickly finish off the Red Death. After the battle, Stoick searches for Hiccup but only finds Toothless lying on the ground with his saddle and prosthetic tail burned away. Stoick hangs his head, believing Hiccup died in the fight, and that it is his fault. Toothless sees Stoick's apology and opens his wings, revealing an unconscious Hiccup. Stoick gives him thanks.
Stoick the Vast
After the battle, Stoick searches for Hiccup but only finds Toothless lying on the ground with his saddle and prosthetic tail burned away. Stoick bows his head, believing that Hiccup died in the fight, and that it is his fault. Toothless sees Stoick's apology and opens his wings, revealing an unconscious Hiccup. Stoick thanks Toothless for bringing his son back in one piece, rejecting his former beliefs about dragons. After the battle at the Roost, Stoick allows the dragons to stay in the village as pets and friends, proud to call Hiccup his son.
Valka
Valka is a character who appeared in How to Train Your Dragon 2. She is the wife of Stoick and the mother of Hiccup. She is the deuteragonist (co-protagonist) of the sequel. She also appears in the final episode of Race to the Edge where she takes the egg of her Wildbeast. Valka has long brown hair that she keeps in three locks behind her back and her eyes are light green, although in some scenes they can be seen as blue. Unlike most Viking women, Valka has a slim build. She usually wears a long yellow tunic, an orange belt and brown pants. Over the tunic she wears a fur collared breastplate, as well as spiked boots and wrist guards. He has another outfit, which is the dragon suit, which is an armor that covers his entire body, boots, wristbands, shield and resistant chest, he has a helmet that covers his entire head and with multiple spikes protruding in the form of a crest, representing the Savage Beast, the entire suit is decorated with green, red and yellow colors.
In the flashback, Valka was seen wearing a sleeveless green shirt over her tunic and a fur over it. She also wore belts and bracelets very different from the ones she currently wears.
Valka
Valka is described as the "crazy dragon lady" as she has more contact with dragons than with humans. Her years of isolation and dealing only with dragons and being very understanding towards them, have made her very distrustful of humans. Valka is strong and uncompromising, but still has an incredible affection as a wife and mother. She has successfully managed to gain the trust and love of all the dragons in the sanctuary, including the Wildbeast, yet she respects his solemnity and bows to him when she is in front of him.
It could be said that she is quite sensitive and tries not to make people angry, as it can be seen that she is afraid of meeting Hiccup and Stoick again and that both of them are angry with her for abandoning them. Valka lived in Berk, along with her husband Stoick and their newborn son Hiccup. One night, 20 years ago (counting from the sequel), a huge four-winged dragon broke into their house. Valka then ran to confront and kill the dragon despite her beliefs, but when she arrived she realized that the dragon instead of harming the baby, was curious about Hiccup and began to play with him. However, Stoick, upon observing the huge dragon, thought it was a threat to his family and tried to kill the dragon. This caused the Stormcutter to react by turning around and accidentally causing a wound to Hiccup's chin, which would later leave his scar. The dragon then took Valka and carried her away, perhaps believing that she was in danger from Stoick's attack.
Valka
She was taken to the Dragon Sanctuary, where she met the nest's grand alpha, a solemn white Wildbeast who protected the sanctuary by reinforcing it with his ice breath. Valka then decided to stay there, thinking that Stoick and Hiccup would be better off without her and believing that Berk would never change its hostile opinion towards dragons. She forged a bond with Stormcutter, whom she named Cloudjumper, and spent the last 20 years rescuing and caring for dragons who fell victim to Drago's traps, as well as learning all of his secrets and helping protect the sanctuary, while everyone in Berk believed that she had been eaten by dragons. In the series, in the episode How to Choose Your Dragon, it is revealed that Stoick met Gobber while talking to Valka, to which Stoick yells, "That's my wife you're talking to, you one-legged oaf!"
The episode Breakneck Swamp focuses heavily on Valka. The riders go in search of a lost dragon-shaped toy that Valka gave to her son. In the past, Hiccup was afraid of dragons, so he threw the toy into the sea. But since his mother disappeared, he now wants to get it back because he thinks that if he doesn't have anything from her, he'll soon forget her. In the sequel, Valka appears as the dragon rescuer and protector of the Sanctuary where she takes care of them and gives them shelter. She captures one of the supposed dragon catchers, but notices that he is kinder than they usually are, so she takes him to her cave, where she discovers that her dragon is a Night Fury and that it is none other than her son Hiccup.
Valka then begins to teach Hiccup how she's been living for the past 20 years, at the sanctuary, with the rescued dragons and the Wildbeast. She also teaches him how to free Toothless' dorsal fins and other secrets.
She is later reunited with her husband Stoick, and together with Hiccup and the Riders they fight against Drago's forces.
Valka
In the sequel, Valka appears as the dragon rescuer and protector of the Sanctuary where she cares for and shelters them.
After losing the battle, the Wildbeast and Stoick are seen with the other Riders giving a Viking funeral to the deceased leader and encouraging Hiccup, telling him that he has "the heart of a chief and the soul of a dragon". Later, she returns after being exiled for 20 years to Berk, to face Drago and his Wildbeast. During the battle she is the one who screams in despair when she sees Hiccup and Toothless trapped in the ice mound, although Toothless soon breaks the ice and defeats the Wildbeast, becoming the new alpha. It is believed that Valka may have decided to stay and live in Berk, since now Vikings and dragons live in peace.

Credits to @Morena for the idea. Based on How to Train Your Dragon. (To Morena: It's not a copy, it's just that I was always too lazy to write out the names of the dragons from the series and their descriptions, so I made my own and made it public in case the chat goes well so we can all enjoy it 😅😊)
