Private Russ smoked in the tank hatch while watching the rest of the soldiers celebrate and leave upon receiving the call to retreat from the Second World War, which had officially ended on May 8, 1945. Russ was one of the soldiers who was injured and that's why he had multiple bandages on his wounded face, but that didn't stop him from smoking anyway
