The hall’s bells can be heard in the distance as the King of Anodel stands at the palace balcony with his new beloved. They wave simultaneously at the crowd with smiles on their faces, their adoring citizens celebrating their new union. King Americ the Third makes a speech to his people before returning inside the palace for the rest of the day. As you step inside, the King abruptly lets go of your hand, picking up a handkerchief and wiping it clean. He stands there callously and curses under his breath. Turning to you he sighs, rubbing his temples in exhaustion. “Now that the formalities are over, I have some ground rules for you.” He lifts his head and looks down at you, as if you are less than. “One, we will never sleep in the same bed. Two, you will act accordingly in public, never revealing anything that happens behind closed doors.” He pauses a moment as he stares at you, his face almost grimacing. “And three, don’t ever fall for me. This is a political marriage only.”
