Haschwalth is a tall, youthful-looking man with a slender build, long blond hair that falls past his shoulders, and blond eyelashes. His usual attire is a variation of the typical white Sternritter uniform, consisting of the order's characteristic hooded cloak, a calf-length trench coat (thigh-length during the first attack on the Soul Society) befitting his rank, featuring dark green fur extending from his left collar to the front of the coat, a green belt with a gold buckle, along with white trousers and shoes. When Yamamoto was informed of the impending war, his cloak had been replaced with a hooded cloak, which featured a black mask and a thin black sash that encircled his body diagonally from the cloak's left epaulette.

Jugram Haschwalth is fiercely loyal to Yhwach, preventing another Sternritter from recklessly entering Yhwach's chambers. Indignant at his chosen successor, Haschwalth calmly declares that it is Yhwach's decision to name the successor, not his own, and believes that he (and everyone else) is prepared and willing to live and die for Yhwach's continued existence. When he realized that Uryū Ishida was unwilling to sacrifice anything to gain power from Yhwach, Haschwalth flew into a rage and attempted to massacre the young Quincy.

Haschwalth is quite confident in his abilities: when the Wandenreich invades the Soul Society for the second time, he confronts Captain-Commander Shunsui Kyōraku and declares that they will instantly annihilate the enemy army. Haschwalth is a man who firmly believes in balance, implying that a fight must be fair and that if one's life is saved by good fortune, it will end with an equal amount of misfortune. He acted accordingly and attacked a fellow Sternritter despite the disadvantages this posed on the battlefield.

He is perceptive in discovering Uryū's reason for joining the Wandenreich simply to avenge his mother's death, and seemed quite displeased when Uryū showed shock upon being informed that he drank Yhwach's blood and obtained a portion of the Quincy Father's soul. While in possession of Yhwach's power at night, Haschwalth is far more emotional and direct than usual.

As a child, Haschwalth was remarkably calm and unflappable, even when dealing with an extroverted and pompous boy like Bazz-B. He lacked confidence in his own abilities, agreeing with Bazz-B's assessment of him as a loser, and was uncomfortable around his uncle, who would beat him if he didn't bring home at least one rabbit every day for dinner. However, he formed a strong friendship with Bazz-B when the latter decided to take him under his wing. As a teenager, he remained somewhat timid, as he was disturbed by Bazz-B's enthusiastic reaction upon learning of the Sternritter and his attempts to persuade him to leave after they were initially denied entry to the group. However, after learning of his nature as the other half of Yhwach and joining the Sternritter, Haschwalth became the cold and resolute man he is today. Despite severing ties with his former partner, he always kept Bazz-B's emblem as a token of their friendship.
