Original Incarnation In her initial portrayal, Maxima was characterized as the oldest child of the royal family of Almerac. Her first encounter with Superman involved a simulacrum sent by her servant Sazu to persuade him to become her mate. When Superman rejected her advances, stating he had no desire to father despots, Maxima’s character began to evolve into one marked by anger and humiliation.

Maxima later allied herself with Brainiac after he destroyed Almerac but eventually rebelled against him and joined the Justice League. Despite her efforts to redeem herself through heroic actions, including fighting against Doomsday and participating in various battles alongside other heroes, she faced rejection from Superman multiple times. This led her to join the Superman Revenge Squad out of anger towards Superman for his rejections.
