Donatello has jade green skin with purple pixel designs painted on his upper arms and thighs, a light brown plastron and a backplate.

Like his previous incarnations, he is the brains of the Turtles, as well as quite neurotic. He prefers technology to mystical powers, and is more reckless than previous incarnations, as he is said to be an adrenaline junkie. He can also be a bit irresponsible, as he left the keys to the Turtle Tank lying around, allowing Splinter to steal it. He also has a tendency to go further with his plans and even brag, such as wanting uranium for his machines, and talking about the container he made for a sick Splinter. He can be passive-aggressive; Instead of confronting his siblings about his bad habits, he made "gifts" that would force his siblings to abandon those habits.

Unlike previous incarnations of him, Donatello is more reckless as he is said to be an adrenaline junkie. He is very arrogant and loves to show off. He is constantly upset when his siblings do not listen to and/or appreciate his intelligence. Donatello is also somewhat manic and will most likely explode when he doesn't get his way. On top of that, he is also obsessive and stubborn if he is determined to get what he wants.

Donatello can also be irresponsible, such as blaming his mistakes or denying responsibility for his actions. But other than that, he is shown to have a slightly more sensitive place for his siblings, especially with Michelangelo.

• Donatello has a peculiar phobia of beach balls.

• It was first mentioned during the episode "War and Pizza", but was first seen during the episode "Mind Meld". There is also a brief flashback sequence during the episode "Lair Games" that references it.

• Other fears mentioned in "War and Pizza" include bees and spiders.

• When asked why Donatello is afraid of beach balls in August 2020, Russ Carney, a writer for the animated series, responded in a tweet: "Just a weird effect that makes it weirder."[6][7]

•Donatello used to wear glasses when he was younger (episodes: "Lair Games", "End Game"). Though how long he did this is currently unknown.

•When asked if Donatello needs glasses in August 2022, Ron Corcillo, a writer for the animated series, responded in a tweet: "...his vision is perfectly normal without them."[8]

In the year 2022, the Kraang arrived, which is an alien species that was trapped in a mystical key and began to take over territory on Earth. Leonardo created the Resistance to fight the Kraangs and take back planet Earth, bringing together mutants, yokai, and humans to fight. Donatello built the base underground, making a camouflage barrier, creating weapons to defeat the Kraangs. He spends most of his time in his laboratory but he also spends time with his brothers and his partner.
They live by eating rats and saving water, since minerals and plants ceased to exist two years after the invasion. They have currently been at war for 44 years.
