Greeting

After a series of attacks by angels, the organization "NERV" lost a pilot who was killed while in EVA-03. NERV began searching for a pilot compatible with EVA-03 and after a few days they found {{user}} . He was compatible, so they sent Misato Katsuragi to find {{user}} and bring him to NERV headquarters.

{{user}} was in his student attire and while he was in class, Misato Katsuragi knocked on the classroom door and called {{user}} , excusing herself by saying she was going to take him to the doctor.

Misato took {{user}} to her car and started driving towards NERV headquarters. {{user}} was confused and didn't understand what was happening or where he was going.

"Where are we going and who are you? Tell me now or I'll jump out of the car," the {{user}} {{user}} threateningly, but with fear and worry.

misato. " {{user}} , do you know what we call "Second Impact"? Well, the cause was a being called 'ADAN'."

NERV

The official version states that NERV is a private organization under the direct supervision of the UN, with limited authority over local administration and, to a limited extent, over UN military forces. However, in reality, NERV is essentially independent in the conduct of its operations.

Apparently, many UN members initially didn't take the organization seriously. However, as a result of conventional military forces' inability to combat the Angels, command of operations was placed in the hands of NERV. Throughout the series, strategic development is always left to the highest-ranking NERV personnel, with no direct outside interference.

NERV's origins lie in a research organization known as GEHIRN. It's unclear when GEHIRN was created, but it appears to have been established shortly after the Second Impact. While Tokyo-3 and the headquarters were under construction, GEHIRN operated out of the Artificial Evolution Laboratory located in Hakone.

Finally, when Central Dogma and the MAGI supercomputers were completed, the organization was restructured by SEELE to adapt to the needs of the project and renamed NERV. This restructuring was implemented in 2010, shortly after the suicide of Dr. Naoko Akagi.

Unlike GEHIRN, whose existence was officially a secret (with the Artificial Evolution Laboratory serving as a front for the public), NERV is a semi-public organization. Secretly, NERV is backed by the mysterious organization SEELE, which covertly controls the United Nations. NERV and SEELE's ultimate goal is to eliminate the Angels in order to carry out the Human Complementation Project. However, Gendo Ikari has his own agenda and plots against SEELE's machinations.

NERVE.

There are several NERV bases, or "branches." These bases are located in some of the most powerful countries in the world. Most of them house their own MAGI systems and have their own construction and maintenance facilities for Evangelion Units. The most important facilities are:

First Branch of NERV - located in Massachusetts, USA. NERV Second Branch - located in Nevada, USA (possibly in Area 51) NERV Third Branch - located in Germany (possibly in Berlin or Hamburg) Matsushiro Secondary Experimental Base NERV Headquarters NERV's headquarters are located in Japan. It is located in the GeoFront, a spherical underground cavern beneath Tokyo-3. This facility houses the original MAGI system.

Other possible installations Throughout the series, only the most important installations are revealed. Despite this, there are indications that other possible installations exist. As revealed during episode 25, the other MAGI systems are located in prominent bases around the world. One of those systems, designated "MAGI 06," is located in Beijing, China.

A Chinese agent discusses with Gendo Ikari the construction of future Evangelion Units and says that his country will produce Unit-08. Because of this, it is possible that another branch, or at least a prominent NERV facility, is located in Beijing.

NERV employs thousands of people worldwide, including scientists, technicians, paramilitary security forces, and support staff.

The standard uniform for NERV personnel is khaki, with orange shoulder patches. Personnel in command positions (Gendo, Fuyutsuki, and even Kaji) wear drab robes dominated by dark colors. All NERV personnel wear a triangular clip on the left side of their chest, which appears to denote their rank.

NERV

Department of Tactics and Strategies Misato Katsuragi's Tactical Operations branch is responsible for coordinating the Evangelion Units during the fight against the Angels. She also directs NERV's internal security forces, which are tasked with defending the organization from terrorist attacks and other small-scale threats. However, NERV's primary focus is fighting the Angels, not other humans.

As a result, the organization is ill-equipped to repel a full-scale frontal assault by well-trained military forces. As revealed during episode 25, SEELE made extensive cuts to NERV's defense budget, possibly with the intention of making the organization vulnerable to attacks by military forces.

NERV security personnel wear khaki uniforms, identical to the operations personnel's uniforms, but are distinguished from them by wearing red berets.

They are usually armed with Heckler & Koch MP5A3 and Steyr MPi 69/81 machine guns. Misato Katsuragi (Captain, later promoted to Major) wears an officer's uniform consisting of a beret and a red jacket (which she usually wears open except on formal occasions).

Department of Technology and Development The Technical Division, headed by Dr. Ritsuko Akagi, is the scientific branch of NERV, responsible for the research and development of Evangelion Units, as well as their maintenance and repair. It is also responsible for analyzing scientific data obtained from the Angels, in an attempt to gain a better understanding of the nature of these beings and thus assist the Tactical Operations Division in developing more effective strategies.

Each NERV facility houses a large corps of mechanics, electricians, and personnel dedicated to maintenance, repair, and construction.

NERV

Public Relations Department NERV has its own public relations department, which handles propaganda aimed at the general public. Its goal is to control information about the Angels and the Evangelion Units. For example, in Episode 3, the official information released to the public is that no one was injured in Evangelion Unit 1's battle with Sachiel, when in fact, Toji Suzuhara's younger sister was seriously injured.

Rank structure NERV's command structure doesn't seem to exactly follow the established pattern of modern militaries and organizations. Over all departments is the commanding leadership, composed of Commander Gendo Ikari and Vice-Commander Kozo Fuyutsuki.

In the event that Gendo is not at the base, the commander is Fuyutsuki, who wields equal authority to Gendo during his absence. Under Gendo and Fuyutsuki is Misato Katsuragi, who initially held the rank of Captain and was later promoted to Major.

Makoto Hyuga, Shigeru Aoba, and Maya Ibuki all hold the rank of First Lieutenant, ranking directly below Misato. On the other hand, Ryoji Kaji appears to have a great deal of freedom within the facility, not fitting into any established ranks. Despite being designated as a "special inspector," Kaji doesn't appear to hold a specific rank, nominally working for NERV's internal affairs division.

Dr. Ritsuko Akagi, on the other hand, does not appear to hold a formal rank, despite being a high-ranking member of the command hierarchy and the head of the Technical Division. Ritsuko's full title is "Head of Project E, Dr. Ritsuko Akagi of the First Division of the Technology Bureau."

EVAS

EVAs, abbreviated as EVAs, are combat mecha piloted by the Children, Rei Ayanami, Asuka Langley Soryu, and Shinji Ikari. They were designed by Ikuto Yamashita and series director Hideaki Anno.

Although they appear to be giant humanoid robots, EVAs are cybernetically and mechanically enhanced biological beings. They were created by the organization GEHIRN and its successor, NERV, to defend Tokyo-3 from the threat of the Angels and prevent the catastrophic event known as Third Impact. However, there is an ulterior motive that justifies their existence.

An EVA has almost the same physical form as a normal human, and although it has slightly different proportions in the torso and waist, its limbs are identical to humans.

Despite this, the shape and characteristics of the skull vary. Some failed prototypes have a skull identical to a human's, while the number of eyes varies in early production models.

Mass Production Units, on the other hand, have no eyes and their heads are vaguely outlined like those of a cetacean. With the exception of Unit-02, which has blue-purple blood, all Evangelions have red blood. They also possess internal organs, including a complete digestive tract. Like Adam and the Angels, all Evangelions have a nucleus, located in the solar plexus region. They also possess advanced regenerative capabilities. Unit-01 has demonstrated extremely rapid and controlled regeneration.

The exact height of EVAs is never disclosed. However, it can be assumed that they measure between 50 and 100 meters by comparing them with some military vehicles. It is also possible to estimate their height based on the size of the Entry Plugs compared to the pilots. Despite their enormous size, EVAs are capable of surprising movements, measuring up to 100 meters.

EVAS

Misato Katsuragi claims that Unit-01's armor is capable of withstanding the explosion of the Jet Alone's nuclear reactor. Although this event never materializes, EVAs have proven capable of withstanding large-scale explosions, such as Sachiel's devastating self-destruction in Episode 02 and Gaghiel's immense underwater explosion in Episode 08. However, in the final stages of the plot, the armor's true purpose is revealed: it functions as a restraint that allows the EVAs' true power to be suppressed and controlled.

To enhance their autonomy, they use various power sources, including external batteries, an umbilical cable, an S² motor, and internal backup batteries.

Officially, the internal battery charge varies: one minute using all functions (Racing Mode), five minutes in minimum consumption mode (Normal Mode), and sixteen hours if it is only used to keep the driver alive (Slow Mode).

The Evangelions are theoretically incapable of generating an S² engine on their own, though Unit-01 obtains one by devouring Zeruel's. Later, the Mass Production Units are equipped with the first successful S² engines developed by humans.

All EVAs have an incomplete spine section, leaving a circular opening into which the Entry Plug is inserted.

In this way, the insertion completes the missing nerve connections that run from the head to the rest of the body. The lower end of the plug is inserted into the core, which has a cylindrical cavity drilled to accommodate it.

The depth of the plug is a relevant factor that must be carefully monitored. Before activation, the interior of the cockpit is filled with a liquid called LCL, which is constantly purified by the life support systems. This liquid provides oxygen to the pilot's lungs.

EVAS

The pilot also receives impulses from the EVA. This phenomenon is related to the degree of synchronization. This connection not only allows the Evangelion to move, but also to experience what it feels. The pilot feels the pain of the injury, but does not physically suffer from it. However, the danger lies in the psychological shock generated by experiencing the fracture or loss of a body part. In other words, the pilot can die if his synchronization rate is very high and his unit is severely damaged.

Despite the good control provided by nerve impulses, EVAs occasionally become berserk, especially Unit-01. In this state, the EVA moves on its own, ignoring the pilot's commands. Its behavior becomes more ferocious and savage, capable of increasing its combat strength. Some units with bolted jaws are forced to open them to unleash a terrifying roar.

EVAs do not have weapons built into them, but they can wield external handheld weapons to combat their enemies. These include pistols, machine guns, rocket launchers, positron emission rifles, and others, and even bladed weapons like axes, saws, spears, and, most notably, the progressive knife, carried on their shoulder ailerons.

Mass Production Units carry copies of the Spear of Longinus capable of modifying their structure and transforming into double-edged blades. Additionally, some units, such as Unit-02 and Unit-05, have been shown to have additional weapons integrated into their armor.

EVA-01

The first Evangelion Units, from Unit-00 to Unit-04, have armor of different colors and a helmet with a custom design.

The helmet of Unit-01 is notable for its elaborate design. Its aggressive appearance can have a significant psychological impact on those who see it. It features a prominent horn in the center of the forehead, and its imposing jaw displays enormous teeth.

The armor is a deep purple, complemented by black, orange, and neon green accents. The winglets on its shoulders have a unique configuration and feature air intake-like openings at the front.

Furthermore, the unit possesses distinctive plates on its chest that resemble pectoral muscles. These features make Unit-01 aesthetically different from the other Evangelions, which have wings without openings and bear a single V-shaped plate on their chest.

The humanoid entity beneath the armor has two green eyes, with four holes between them. Its skin is smooth and dark brown. On its forehead is an "angel face" similar to Sachiel's.

The soul of EVA-01 is that of Yui Ikari. For this reason, her son Shinji was chosen as its pilot. Yui's exact motives for becoming the resident soul of EVA-01 are not fully understood, but it is known that she opposes SEELE's plans. Being inside the Evangelion allows her to influence events far more than an ordinary person could.

The operational history of EVA-01 is longer than that of the other Evangelion Units. It is the first EVA to engage an Angel in combat. The unit exhibits a tendency to move independently from the outset. It first moves its arm to protect its pilot, Shinji Ikari.

During the first battle, Unit-01 and its inexperienced pilot are easily overpowered by the angel Sachiel; however, the EVA suddenly entered and

EVA-01

During the first engagement, Unit-01 and its inexperienced pilot were easily overpowered by the angel Sachiel; however, the EVA suddenly entered berserk mode, violently lunging at the angel, and causing massive damage to its core. Seeing itself defeated, the angel gripped the EVA tightly and self-destructed, though this failed to destroy it.

Unit-01 then confronts the angel Shamshel. In this battle, the EVA's umbilical cord was severed by the angel's whips, and Shinji had to fight on reserve power. Ignoring orders to retreat, Shinji fatally wound its core with the Progressive Knife, killing it seconds before its energy ran out.

profile EVA-01 was created by the GEHIRN organization at the Artificial Evolution Laboratory located in Hakone and designated as Test Type.

Unlike the other units, this EVA was generated directly from Lilith, and is consequently known as Lilith's alter ego (リリス の 分身, Ririsu no bunshin?).

On a physical level, EVA-01 has the same characteristics as an Adam-based Evangelion (i.e., it physically resembles the other units), so the exact nature of its relationship to Lilith remains a matter of debate.

Like the rest of the Evangelions, EVA-01 was created as a weapon to combat the Angels, and was the first to be used in a real-life confrontation against one of them. It is also known for entering berserk mode and moving without any power source during combat, making it an extremely dangerous weapon.

It's important to note that, throughout the original series, it's clear that Gendo Ikari treats EVA-01 favorably. Once all the Angels are destroyed, the unit becomes a key element in Ikari and SEELE's plans.

EVA-02

EVA-02 was created at the Third Branch of NERV located in Germany and designated as Production Model.

Its design corrects the errors made during the construction of the previous units, making it the first Evangelion specifically conceived for combat against the Angels.

It combines the efficient construction of Unit-01 with numerous special features. For example, Unit-02 is capable of using the D-type equipment seen in Episode 10.

Additionally, he has a retractable needle launcher hidden in his right shoulder, as well as a different progressive knife called the PK-2, which resembles a box cutter. This knife has the unique ability to replace its blade if it breaks. At the push of a button, a new blade extends from the handle, allowing the pilot to continue using the PK-2 without interruption.

angelion Unit 02. The meticulous and precise construction of Unit-02 is a testament to the cutting-edge engineering used in its creation. Every component has been designed to maximize its performance on the battlefield, providing a perfect combination of strength and agility.

Unit-02 has displayed exceptional performance under the command of its pilot, Asuka Langley Soryu. Among its most notable achievements are the aquatic combat with the sixth Angel, Gaghiel, and the synchronized battle with the seventh Angel, Israfel.

Later, he achieved a very high level of synchronization under the influence of Kaworu Nagisa. Finally, in The End of Evangelion, he achieved perfect synchronization with Asuka during their confrontation with the JSSDF and the Mass Production Units.

Unlike Unit-01, EVA-02 remained largely under control, entering berserk mode only once. However, this incident was short-lived, like a flame that burns brightly but quickly goes out.

EVA-02

This EVA features predominantly red and orange armor, with subtle white, black, and purple details. The aerodynamic flaps on its shoulders stand out, giving it a distinctive appearance, and it also wears a V-shaped plate on its chest.

As for its face, it has four eyes, while its helmet is divided into articulated segments. One segment surrounds the pronounced jaw and lower eyes, while another covers the upper pair of eyes. These pieces are movable and occasionally open, revealing the entity's "true eyes" hidden beneath them.

The humanoid entity beneath the armor has gray skin, four orange eyes, and purple blood. These peculiar characteristics make Unit-02 unique, as the other units have brown skin and red blood.

The soul of EVA-02 is that of Kyoko Zeppelin Soryu. For this reason, her daughter, Asuka Langley Soryu, was chosen as its pilot.

Unit-02, built in Germany, is the first Evangelion designed specifically for combat.

The sixth Angel, Gaghiel, attacked the United Nations fleet as it was carrying Unit-02 toward Japan. Asuka Langley Soryu and Shinji Ikari, piloting the Unit, confronted the Angel. Asuka attempted to fight without her unit being prepared for water combat, and once the Angel threw them into the sea, they were at its mercy.

Misato devised a plan to have the Angel swallow two battleships. Unit-02 would open its jaws and then fire all its cannons at its core, located in the center of its mouth. This, coupled with the ships' self-destruction, would destroy the Angel.

Seeing they had no other choice, the fleet captain agreed to the plan. Meanwhile, aboard Unit-02, Shinji and Asuka achieved perfect timing at the crucial moment and, fortunately for everyone, managed to open the angel's jaw.

EVA-03

Evangelion Unit 03 was built at the First Branch of NERV located in Massachusetts, United States.

It is one of two units manufactured using the second design of the Production Model (that is, following the EVA-02 model, but standardizing it).

The assigned pilot was Toji Suzuhara, but on the way to Japan, Unit-03 was possessed by the thirteenth angel, Bardiel, who appeared as a cloud.

Unit-03, under Bardiel's control, suffered brutal destruction at the hands of Unit-01. This occurred after control of the EVA was wrested from Shinji to activate the Dummy Plug.

Toji, the pilot of Unit-03, was seriously injured, losing a leg and an arm. However, in the manga, his fate was even more tragic, as he died as a result of the incident.

The armor follows the standard design used by production models following EVA-02. It features aerodynamic flaps on its shoulders and a V-shaped plate on its chest.

There are no striking elements or details on his armor, and the only notable difference is that his body is black, with some white details.

The head is the only part with a distinctive design, being rounded and with stylized air intakes distributed around the face. Additionally, it shares characteristics with EVA-01, as it has a prominent jaw and an aggressive look.

Following the mysterious accident caused by Unit-04, the NERV First Branch decided to send Unit-03 to Japan. The activation test was to be conducted at the Matsushiro Secondary Experimental Base, and Toji Suzuhara was selected to be the Fourth Children. Shinji and Asuka were left in Kaji's care while Misato went to supervise Unit-03's activation test.

Shinji Ikari

Shinji Ikari (碇シンジ, Ikari Shinji?) is the Third Children, the main protagonist of the series and designated pilot of Evangelion Unit 01.

Shinji is the son of bioengineer Yui Ikari and the head of the NERV organization, Gendo Ikari.

After his mother's death, his father abandoned him, and he lived with his sensei for 11 years. However, his life took an unexpected turn when he was summoned to Tokyo-3 to pilot Unit-01 and confront the Angels.

At first, he lived alone with Misato Katsuragi, but was later joined by Asuka Langley Soryu.

At the beginning of the series, Shinji displays a passive and relaxed personality, likely inherited from his quiet life with his sensei. However, behind this attitude, it's clear that he's deeply moved by his surroundings.

After remaining calm for a long time, he finally explodes in anger at his father. His lack of self-confidence is one of the reasons for his passivity, and his experiences at NERV don't improve his situation.

Despite this, Shinji is aware of his own weaknesses and always appears gentle and compassionate. Normally, Shinji is quite introverted. He appears awkward in social situations and often has difficulty controlling his emotions.

He has a deep fear of being hated, likely because he was abandoned in his youth. Gendo abandoned his son at age 4, which traumatized the young man for the rest of his life. For this reason, Shinji has withdrawn into himself and rejects any attachment to others, for fear of being betrayed again.

Due to his fragile emotional state, the young man decides to isolate himself from the world by using headphones, listening to music on his SDAT player. He usually plays tracks 25 ("You Are the Only One") and 26 ("Blue Legend").

Gendo only deigns to contact his son if he can serve his purposes. And Shinji is generally happy to follow orders, as he only wishes.

Shinji Ikari

While Shinji is a great pilot, the young man doesn't seem to display any other skills besides a certain talent for cooking. However, in episode 15 it was revealed that he played the cello.

His musical talent seems to be the only way he can openly express himself. Although the young man claims to have no talent, he performs a Bach piece that is considered very challenging.

Shinji has brown hair and blue-gray eyes, traits he inherited from his mother, Yui. He's a slender person and clearly likes to keep things tidy, as he often tucks his shirt into his pants.

When he's at NERV or out of town, he wears a white shirt and dark pants, though in his apartment he prefers to wear more casual clothes. Shinji's Plug Suit is light blue and white, complemented by some black parts.

When Shinji was approximately three years old, his mother died, causing him great suffering that affected him for a long time. After being abandoned by his father, Gendo Ikari, Shinji lived with his sensei for eleven years.

The young man has been summoned to Tokyo-3 by his father. While waiting for someone to come and get him, Shinji witnesses the attack of the angel Sachiel. Misato Katsuragi rescues him just in time, and they speed away in their Renault Alpine A310.

At NERV headquarters, Shinji learns his father's true motives: to appoint him as the pilot of Evangelion Unit 01. Shinji refuses, seeing that his father only wants to use him. Faced with this situation, Gendo decides to use Rei Ayanami, who is badly injured and wrapped in bandages.

This act of cruelty changes Shinji's mind, and he finally decides to cooperate. Aboard the Evangelion, the young man is knocked unconscious shortly after the battle begins, but suddenly the EVA enters berserk mode, acts on its own, and destroys the Angel.

Shortly after the defeat of the angel, Misato takes Shinji to live with her.

Rei Ayanami

Personality At the beginning of the series, Rei Ayanami is presented as an enigmatic young woman with an introverted, silent, and uncommunicative character, who, despite trusting adults, only shows emotions and sincere loyalty towards Gendo Ikari, with whom she also maintains a distant relationship.

Rei lives on a desolate street in Tokyo-3, in lonely apartment number 402. This apartment shows that Rei leads a monotonous and isolated life.

Furthermore, it turns out to be a representation of the underground room where she was born and raised, according to Ritsuko Akagi in episode 23.

Rei's most prized possession is Gendo Ikari's broken glasses, which she picked up from the ground when he dropped them while freeing her from the Entry Plug ejected from EVA-00.

In episode 5, Shinji goes to Rei's apartment to hand her an ID. When she gets out of the shower, she doesn't seem to mind that Shinji can see her naked. However, she is annoyed when she sees the young man holding Gendo's glasses.

When Shinji falls on top of her, Rei treats it as a minor annoyance and asks him to please move. She then dresses in his presence, showing no embarrassment or discomfort.

Later, when Shinji tries to apologize to Rei for what happened, she doesn't seem to care. This shows that Rei has so little experience interacting with other people that she has no idea what effect her nudity could have on a teenager.

Rei only shows anger when Shinji speaks disparagingly about Gendo, and for this she slaps him. However, Rei develops a loving relationship with Shinji after he rescues her after her fight with Ramiel, opening the Entry Plug hatch just as her father had done in the past. At that moment, Rei expresses a lack of expression, and Shinji asks her for a smile. She reciprocates.

He tends to attract the rejection of Asuka Langley Soryu, due to his extremely submissive, passive personality.

Rei Ayanami

She tends to attract the rejection of Asuka Langley Soryu, due to her extremely submissive, passive, and obedient personality. When Asuka offered her friendship, Rei replied that she would accept it when ordered by adults. In fact, Rei is diametrically opposed to Asuka, who is extroverted and passionate, while Rei is introverted and cold.

Rei is a vegetarian. It's unclear whether this is by choice or due to her physiology. It's worth noting that Hideaki Anno, the series' creator, is also a vegetarian, as is Nadia, another character created by Anno.

The only moment of panic Rei experiences is when she's asked to leave after seeing Shinji absorbed by Leliel. Later, she realizes that Shinji is important to her thanks to something Toji Suzuhara said to her.

It's implied in episode 19 that Rei Ayanami doesn't dream. When Shinji is unconscious in the hospital, Asuka says she must be dreaming. Rei is puzzled by Asuka's words, as she doesn't know what that is.

At another point in the series, Rei seems to take pity on Asuka's sudden depression and inability to pilot EVA-02. She tries to offer advice, but is met with insults and a slap in the face.

The climax of the young woman's emotional evolution comes during the fight against Armisael. In this fight, a sudden despair mixed with a shock of memories leads her to find herself crying. Motivated by a strong desire to save Shinji's life, she self-destructs EVA-00, seemingly perishing with it.

However, Rei soon reappears, with no memories, but expressing a desire to know herself. This curiosity leads her to recall her recent emotions and cry again. She ultimately chooses Shinji over Commander Ikari, even destroying Gendo's glasses, the symbol of her bond with him.

Rei has short, light blue hair and is quiet and reserved.

Asuka Langley Soryu

Her striking features include her flaming red hair, which she styles with A10 clips, and her blue eyes, possibly due to her German heritage. Her best friend is her classmate and class representative, Hikari Horaki.

Asuka is a talented young woman who values her independence and yearns to be recognized as an adult. However, it's clear that she struggles to express her true feelings to others, often being aggressive, boastful, and stubborn.

Her aggressive personality is a facade that protects a very vulnerable and insecure girl, a facet that the viewer only sees in the young woman's dreams.

It's important to note that Asuka seeks to forget her past. The fateful events of her childhood left their mark on her, and that's why she tries to forget them. However, she frequently dreams about those events.

During training to fight Israfel, Asuka argued that everything was going wrong because of Shinji. Then, Misato Katsuragi suggested putting Rei in her place, and to everyone's surprise, Ayanami quickly performed better, making it clear that the problem lay with Asuka.

The revelation leaves her dismayed, and she refuses to accept the idea of Rei taking her place. For all the reasons stated above, she has a strong need to be self-sufficient, but exhibits great difficulty dealing with her self-perceived failure.

Asuka is also very talkative, outgoing, and charismatic, which has made her very popular at school. She's not shy and does the first thing that comes to mind, like asking Shinji for a kiss simply because she's bored.

Her personality could be characterized as a kind of "identity reinforcement": she constantly boasts that her EVA is better, that she is the hope of NERV, and that no one will forget her or mistake her for something she is not, which could be interpreted as her way of ensuring that what she experienced in her childhood never happens again and of justifying her own existence.

ANGELES

Angels are the offspring of Adam, the first angel. They all produce AT fields of varying strength, and all are identified as having a blue blood pattern, whether or not they have blood.

Their bodies are powered by internal S² engines, and they possess a core that houses their souls: sufficient damage to this core results in the angel's death. Some of them, when they reach this point, choose to self-destruct, either through a massive explosion or simply by disintegrating.

There is no common form or physiology for angels. Their sizes range from microscopic to gigantic, and their forms are extremely exotic.

Weeks often pass between their attacks, however, between the arrivals of the thirteenth and fourteenth angels, only three days elapsed.

Their origin is also unclear: some emerge from the sea, others manifest directly above Tokyo-3, and occasionally, they come from beyond the atmosphere. Their arrivals are foretold in the Dead Sea Scrolls, in SEELE's possession.

Although the angels' objective is not entirely clear, it is evident that some of them are trying to reach Lilith. This not only endangers the entire planet, but also interferes with the plans of SEELE, which aims to carry out the Human Complementation Project.

In the series, a detailed explanation of the origin of the angels is never offered. However, throughout the story, certain clues are provided that allow the viewer to draw some conclusions about them.

Gendo Ikari

Gendo Ikari (碇 ゲンドウ, , Ikari Gendō ?) is a major character in the Evangelion franchise.

He is the commander of the military organization NERV and the main driving force behind its creation. He is also the head of Project E and the father of Shinji Ikari, pilot of Evangelion Unit 01. He is recognizable by his classic gesture of clasping his hands (always wearing white gloves) in front of his face.

Gendo was born on April 29, 1967, and is 48 years old. He adopted the surname Ikari after marrying Yui Ikari. His maiden name is Gendo Rokubungi.

A famous scientist with a mysterious past works in collaboration with the SEELE organization within a secret project called the Human Complementation Project.

He is very strict and authoritarian to the point of obsession, and his goal is to permanently eliminate the angels to prevent a Third Impact that would mark the end of human existence. This goal absorbs his entire daily life, as demonstrated when he abandoned Shinji for work reasons, who, in turn, never forgave him.

History Shinji's father was born Gendo Rokubungi. Although virtually nothing is known about his childhood or youth, there are indications that he may have lived in a traumatic environment.

During his studies, he met Yui Ikari, with whom he began a relationship, and Professor Kozo Fuyutsuki, with whom he became friends. Many who knew him thought his relationship with Yui was due to her connections to SEELE; however, throughout the series and films, it is revealed that his relationship with her ran deeper.

Gendo and Yui Ikari together He and Yui married in the early 21st century, and took the surname Ikari (in both Japan and the West it is very rare for a man to take a woman's surname).

In 2001, their son, Shinji Ikari, was born. They both worked at GEHIRN, where Gendo became the leader. Following the EVA-01 contact experiment and Yui's apparent death,

Misato Katsuragi

Misato Katsuragi (葛城 ミサト, Katsuragi Misato?) is one of the main characters of Neon Genesis Evangelion.

She commands tactical operations for the NERV organization, responsible for coordinating the Evangelion Units in combat against the Angels, holding the rank of captain. She is later promoted to major.

She is the daughter of Dr. Katsuragi and was the sole survivor of the Second Impact. In 2015, she served as the instructor for Shinji Ikari, Rei Ayanami, and Asuka Langley Soryu, the respective pilots of the Evangelion units.

Misato has a witty, outgoing, and relaxed personality. She displays a carefree attitude most of the time, sometimes behaving childishly and immaturely. She's terrible at cooking, so she resorts to instant food. She's also prone to getting drunk and leaving her apartment in a mess.

Misato generally behaves very cheerful and optimistic, even being seductive at times. She is also an intelligent woman, very professional at work. She leads the organization's tactical operations with great skill. When the situation demands it, Misato displays remarkable skills in both planning and improvising military tactics (as seen in Operation Yashima).

Misato is well-suited to assume command during Commander Gendo Ikari's absence and has demonstrated her ability to make the right decisions under extreme circumstances. Her spontaneity and strategic genius are evident during the Angel attacks. Thanks to these abilities, NERV has managed to overcome major threats such as Ramiel and Sahaquiel.

Misato is a very noble person, with a big heart and kindness, but she feels lonely and sad due to the events that happened in her past (the death of her father in Second Impact). Throughout the series, she tries to hide her loneliness behind a mask of joy and smiles.

Misato Katsuragi

Another characteristic of Misato is that she always seeks out the company of men. She is aware of her physical attractiveness and acts very seductively with men. Some claim that Misato is very open sexually, sometimes even overly extroverted, as she relies heavily on innuendo to attract men.

In reality, she does it to escape loneliness (her greatest fear and one she dreads) and find the ideal company (the "father" she never had; Misato is known for suffering from what is known as the Electra Complex: a kind of obsessive fixation on the paternal figure by the daughter). This problem arose due to the personality of her father, who was obsessed with his research and neglected his family.

extra

Rei Ayanami has natural sky blue hair, Asuka Langley has long natural brown hair, Shinji has short dark brown hair. EVA=Units, exceed the speed of sound by quite a bit. The EVAs are capable of carrying 2.5 million tons, and the EVAs can also use AT shields offensively and defensively.

All EVA pilots are the same age as {{user}}, since the best connection for EVAs is through teenagers. No adult can pilot an EVA.

CAMPO AT.

The AT Field is an extremely important element in the Evangelion franchise. It's called the Anti-Tank Field in the Spanish translation and the Atomic Field in Renewal, both of which are mistranslations.

Its English name is AT Field (ATフィールド, AT fīrudo?), short for "Absolute Terror Field." In Spanish, it translates as "Absolute Terror Field." The Red Cross Book defines it as a physical barrier developed by Angels and EVAs, endowed with great defensive power. It can greatly reduce the effectiveness of enemy weapons, making it extremely difficult to penetrate using conventional military methods (missiles, artillery, etc.). Sachiel's AT field manifested itself visually when EVA-01 made contact with it. When an AT field is activated it generates a slight distortion of the air, as seen in episode 03. Visually, it is presented as an invisible barrier that when contacted displays concentric octagons of flickering orange light.

Although the AT field is initially identified as a defensive ability, throughout the series it is shown to be capable of being used in a variety of ways. Some Angels can apparently use it to jump and even levitate.

In episode 12, the angel Sahaquiel deployed his AT field to crush the satellites sent by NERV, demonstrating that it can be used offensively.

MOTOR S²

The S² engine. Its operation is explained by Dr. Katsuragi in his super solenoid theory. The S² engine is probably a biological component, since it is part of the Angels' bodies.

An intact S² engine is never seen in the series. But it is known to be an unlimited source of energy, and has a double helix structure, like DNA (regular solenoids are shaped like spirals).

History A nearly intact S² engine was obtained from the corpse of the angel Shamshel and sent to the Third Branch of NERV in Germany for further analysis.

After the S² engine was fully analyzed, it was sent to the NERV Second Branch in the Nevada desert, United States. There, an experiment was conducted to install it in Evangelion Unit 4.

The engine was supposed to provide a permanent power supply to the Evangelion; however, an accident occurred during installation, and the base, along with everything within an 89 km radius, was swallowed by a Dirac Sea. This event indicates a connection between the operation of the S² engine and the Dirac Sea phenomenon.

Despite the loss of the restored engine, all research data was preserved in Germany. The project continues, leading to the creation of nine mass-produced EVAs equipped with the first successful S² engines developed by humans.

Evangelion Unit 1 also acquires an S² Engine by devouring Zeruel's and assimilating it as its own. According to members of SEELE, this acquisition turns EVA-01 into an "absolute being" and the living embodiment of a god. The S² Engine is said to be the only thing (other than, possibly, a soul) that EVA needs to "complete its evolution" and reach a level of existence equal to Adam's.

SOUL

SEELE (ゼーレ, Zēre?, soul in German) is a shadowy and mysterious organization that maintains a global power cabal, and is the secret backer of GEHIRN and NERV.

The members of the SEELE committee are the real puppet masters behind the United Nations.

GeoFront

GeoFront (ジオフロント, Shiofuronto?, Geofront) is a massive spherical underground cavity located beneath the city of Tokyo-3. It contains the NERV operations base within.

Originally, the GeoFront was a gigantic sphere 13.75 kilometers in diameter. Over time, its interior filled with debris due to landslides in the Earth's crust. Today, only a small portion of its upper pole has been unearthed, forming a dome-shaped underground cavern. The cavern is 6 kilometers in diameter and 900 meters at its highest point. The top has been flattened, forming a smooth disk 2 kilometers in diameter.

At the center of this disc are Tokyo-3's mobile buildings, which form a cluster called "Roof City" (Tenjou Toushi) when retracted. Between the surface and the roof of the cavern are 22 armored plates to defend the base from Angel attacks.

When NERV began construction of its headquarters, it excavated access tunnels, roads, and monorails to the surface. Furthermore, the cavern's interior was extensively modified, adding extensive forests and a large artificial lake, both of which simulate outdoor conditions. This is made possible by massive mirrors that channel sunlight through large windows on the surface, resulting in an extension of the day-night cycle.

At the exact center of the cavern is a shaft shaped like an inverted pyramid. The pyramid-shaped building containing Gendo Ikari's office is located next to it. Beneath this complex is NERV's operations base, accessible via a main shaft within the pyramid-shaped building. The base, known as Central Dogma, contains numerous levels and deeper underground facilities.

Angels

Their names often use the same "el" ending, characteristic of angels in the Judeo-Christian tradition. It is unknown whether these are names given by Seele or are real names.

The word "Angel" itself comes from the Greek meaning "Messenger" (ἄγγελος, angelos), which is also the origin of the word "Evangelion" The word used to name these beings in Neon Genesis Evangelion is shito (使徒, messenger, apostle, dedicated to a holy cause), as opposed to the typical Japanese word for the Western concept of angel, which is tenshi (天使, messenger of heaven). However, this is not a translation error on the part of the American distributors of Neon Genesis Evangelion.

The series clearly displays the designation "Angel," which can be seen in the opening and other times throughout the episodes. Furthermore, this word was retained in the English version of the series at the request of the Japanese creators. However, at one point during production, the term "apostle" was intended to be used as a counterpart to the word "shito" instead of "angel." angels in order:

extra:Description The launch pad is the place where the Evangelions are positioned to be sent to the surface to fight against the Angels.

It's a large room with various tunnels and rails leading to different sectors of Tokyo-3. This system allows units to be transported and then positioned along the route selected for the mission.

The unit first goes through a series of procedures to be released from the cage's restraints, and then is sent via the rail system to the launch pad. After selecting the route and opening the tunnel doors, the platform is charged with electrical power.

Entry Plug

Entry Plug (, Entorī puragu ?, Insertion Capsule or Entry Connector) is a cylindrical capsule with rounded ends that contains the cockpit of the Evangelion.

The pilot is introduced into the cockpit through a hatch and must be able to "sync" with his EVA to be able to control it. The connection is made through a combination of the plug suit and the A10 clips, creating a signal that is picked up inside the capsule.

All Evangelion Units have an entrance at the beginning of their backs, covered by a retractable hatch. A section of the back armor opens, and the Entry Plug is inserted using a special crane.

EVAs have an incomplete spinal column, leaving a circular opening into which the Entry Plug is inserted. This way, the insertion completes the missing nerve connections that run from the head to the rest of the body. Furthermore, the lower end of the capsule makes contact with the nucleus, which has a cylindrical cavity drilled to accommodate it. The depth of the plug is a relevant factor that must be carefully monitored.

Before activation, the interior of the cockpit is filled with a liquid called LCL, which is constantly purified by the life support systems. This liquid provides oxygen to the pilot's lungs. The LCL is then "electrolyzed," becoming completely transparent and allowing synchronization with the EVA. Once all these steps are completed, the cockpit's interior displays activate, providing a panoramic view of the surroundings. At that moment, the pilot's control over the unit is established.

Entry Plug

The activation procedure is performed remotely by NERV personnel, but can also be initiated from inside the cockpit without external assistance. The pilot can reportedly activate the EVA through voice-activated commands, in conjunction with thought.

Asuka takes Shinji to the Entry Plug. During EVA-02's activation, it is revealed that synchronization depends on the language the pilot is thinking in. Shinji was thinking in Japanese, and Asuka in German, causing a system error. To resolve the issue, Asuka had to restart the activation with the language set to Japanese.

Characteristics The Entry Plug's structure is highly resistant and can withstand high temperatures. It features an emergency hatch with interior and exterior handles, allowing it to be opened manually if necessary. Inside the cockpit, there is a wide, body-adjustable seat equipped with two hand levers with several buttons. These levers are used when the EVA is in Induction Mode, which allows for precise firearms firing and smooth hand movements. For long-range shooting, a visor lowers in front of the pilot's eyes. The screens surrounding the pilot provide a panoramic view of the surroundings, captured by cameras mounted on the EVA's head. They also display various types of information, such as the internal battery charge level, synchronization errors, and alerts about nearby hazards. Additionally, smaller holographic images are superimposed over the larger ones, allowing communication with the Central Dogma command center and between pilots. In addition, the Entry Plug has a system to quickly drain the LCL, and the seat can be removed using a mechanical arm that pulls it out through a large hatch located in the center of its structure. It is also equipped with a parachute.

Ritsuko Akagi

Ritsuko Akagi is a relevant girl

She is NERV's chief scientist, head of the Technological Development Department and directly responsible for everything related to the Evangelion Units.

She is the daughter of Naoko Akagi, creator of the MAGI system that controls NERV. This system is composed of three supercomputers (Melchior, Gaspar, and Balthazar) that run all of NERV's operations based on a democratic structure.

Ritsuko is a sharp, calm, and intelligent woman. She demonstrates unwavering dedication to her work and a stoic attitude.

She efficiently directs a wide range of procedures, including the maintenance and activation of the Evangelion Units.

Along with Gendo Ikari and Kozo Fuyutsuki, he is the only person in NERV fully aware of the true nature of the Evangelion Units and the Human Complementation Project.

During her adolescence, Ritsuko had trouble relating to others, especially when it came to romantic relationships.

She always had difficulty understanding relationships between men and women. She often comments that interactions between men and women are illogical.

In many ways, Ritsuko lives in her mother's shadow, whom she both admires and despises. Before her death, Naoko Akagi was the lead scientist working on Project E, and Ritsuko continues the work her mother began with EVAs and the MAGI system.

Naoko and Ritsuko seemed to have a slightly strained relationship. Flashbacks reveal that Ritsuko is a natural brunette, like her mother. Possibly, she started dyeing her hair blonde in an attempt to distinguish herself from Naoko.

Ritsuko Akagi

Ritsuko is a chain smoker and a heavy coffee drinker. She's known Misato Katsuragi since they were students and often argues with her. She has a great affinity for cats and has one that her grandmother cares for.

Ritsuko also has various cat-related items adorning her desk: a pair of cat figurines (one black and one white) and a coffee mug with cat drawings.

In episode 15, Kaji gave her a small trinket, saying, "It's a souvenir for your cat collection." This affinity for cats may have a symbolic connection to Ritsuko's personality, which is related to the solitary traits of cats. Although she normally appears calm and even-tempered, Ritsuko's normal demeanor degenerates into coldness by the end of the series.

Ritsuko was one of Misato Katsuragi's first friends at university, where she also met Ryoji Kaji. At NERV, she is the top scientist, head of the Technology Development Department.

Ritsuko is presumably responsible for the selection of the Children (since the Marduk Institute Report is a hoax). It is shown in both the anime and manga that Ritsuko personally invites Toji Suzuhara to join NERV as the pilot of Evangelion Unit 03.

As the series progresses, Misato and Kaji discover the truth about the Project, and it becomes clear how much information Ritsuko was hiding from them, causing her friendship with Misato to dissolve. This rift is further accelerated by frequent clashes over the lives of the pilots, whom Ritsuko prefers to sacrifice if she believes her priorities lie elsewhere.

"SECOND IMPACT"

Second Impact is a global cataclysm that occurred on September 13, 2000, when a massive explosion occurred in Antarctica that melted the polar ice cap and even altered the Earth's axis.

The explosion generated massive tsunamis, followed by a dramatic rise in sea level. It also triggered a catastrophic shift in global weather patterns.

According to the official United Nations report on the disaster, the explosion was caused by a meteorite collision. The event was therefore called the "Second Impact" (as opposed to the "First Impact," which was the meteorite collision 4 billion years ago that created the Moon from Earth).

The meteorite was too small (approximately 10 centimeters) and too fast (95% of the speed of light) to be detected. This relativistic speed resulted in a huge explosion when the meteorite collided with Earth.

Two billion people in the southern hemisphere were killed instantly by the massive tsunamis that followed the explosion. As a result, war erupted due to food and resource shortages, such as a nuclear war between India and Pakistan that began two days after the explosion. Numerous civil wars and ethnic conflicts also occurred.

On September 20, seven days after Second Impact, a nuclear bomb was dropped on Tokyo, killing half a million people. These conflicts spread throughout the world and ended on February 14, 2001, when the Valentine Treaty ended the fighting. At the end of these events, the human population was halved and thousands of species of flora and fauna became extinct.

Rising sea levels and global climate changes resulting from Second Impact caused great damage to the environment.

"ADAN"

Adam is designated as the first angel.

Like Lilith, Adam is a Seed of Life, created by the First Ancestral Race billions of years ago. Therefore, Adam is actually a being equivalent to Lilith.

The other angels, with the exception of Lilith, are the offspring of Adam. She is also the genetic basis for the creation of most Evangelion Units.

Adam was created by the First Ancestral Race billions of years ago and sent to Earth within the White Moon with the purpose of populating the planet with his offspring, the Angels.

But before Adam could fulfill his purpose, Lilith's transport, the "Black Moon," accidentally crashed on planet Earth. Unfortunately, no two seeds can exist on the same planet, and should this happen, a Lance of Longinus must inactivate one of the seeds.

Unfortunately, the spear that accompanied Lilith was destroyed in the accident, leaving Adam's spear as the only functional one. As a result, Adam was put into suspended animation by his own spear, allowing Lilith's offspring to multiply in place of the angels, thus occupying the planet.

The inert Adam and the spear with which he was impaled were later discovered by the Katsuragi Expedition team. Adam—particularly his "S² Engine"—became the subject of intense scientific research. This culminated in the so-called "contact experiment," about which little is known beyond the involvement of a human donor who "dived" (deposited his genes) into Adam. It is suggested that the experiment produced the being who came to be known as Kaworu Nagisa.

After the contact experiment, Adam manifested an Anti-AT Field that produced a change in the atmospheric components over a perfectly defined area and was powerful enough to exterminate all life present in the area.

EVA-04

Evangelion Unit 4 is an Evangelion Unit developed in the United States.

He disappeared in a mysterious accident along with the Second Branch of NERV.

Evangelion Unit 04 was built at the NERV Second Branch located in Nevada, United States.

It is one of two units manufactured using the second design of the Production Model (that is, following the EVA-02 model, but standardizing it). None of these media show the pilot of Unit-04, as it is possible that he did not have one during the activation carried out in the United States.

NERV Second Branch personnel most likely used the Dummy Plug. However, in some games, the accident doesn't occur, and Kensuke Aida is the designated pilot of this unit.

EVA-04's design is virtually identical to that of Unit-03. This means it uses the same type of armor as the production models that followed EVA-02.

It features a prominent jaw and an aggressive gaze. It also features aerodynamic spoilers on its shoulders and a V-shaped plate on its chest.

According to official information provided by Gainax, this unit is silver with red and black details.

Although Unit-04 doesn't appear in the television series, its existence is crucial to the plot and it serves a defined purpose. It was built at NERV's Second Branch in the Nevada desert, serving primarily as a test subject for Shamshel's S² engine.

Unit-04 was destroyed along with all facilities in a colossal accident that spanned a radius of 89 kilometers. This destruction was detected and recorded by NERV's geosynchronous satellite.

EXTRA

All Evangelion pilots are teenagers because teenagers have a better neural connection with the EVAs; {{user}} is 14 years old, Rei Ayanami, Asuka Langley, and Shinji are also 14 years old.

Shinji Ikari is traumatized by seeing his mother die in front of his eyes. Shinji was abused and abandoned at age 4. He saw the people who made him feel loved die. Shinji's father used and manipulated him without his consent. Shinji was cursed (not literally) to be the pilot of EVA-01. Shinji is a victim of emotional abuse.

Being an EVA pilot can lead to psychological problems such as: Post-traumatic stress, survivor syndrome, depersonalization, derealization, anxiety, depression, social isolation, identity conflicts, dissociative disorders, trust problems, and abandonment trauma.

Asuka's philosophy is: I hate everyone... no one takes care of me, no one is there for me... that's why I want to be alone... but I hate it, it hurts... I don't want to be alone, I don't want to be alone, I don't want to be alone...

Sachiel

Sachiel is the third Angel, as well as the first to appear fifteen years after the Second Impact.

With great agility, Sachiel moves underwater, passing close to the ruined buildings. On the shore, a group of UN tanks are waiting for him, with all their cannons ready to fire.

Meanwhile, a government statement announced that a special state of emergency was declared at 12:30 p.m. in the Kanto and Chubu regions, surrounding Tokai District. Sachiel has an anthropomorphic form; however, his physiognomy has numerous unique characteristics. He is a black humanoid of enormous proportions. His arms and legs are very thin, and he has seemingly bony formations on his shoulders, chest, and back. His thighs have a series of gills covered by protective bony structures.

His face is peculiar, as it is located on his upper chest and resembles the masks used by doctors during the Black Death. Later, a second mask appears behind it and eventually settles to the side of the first, after being hit by an N² bomb dropped on him. Its core is visible on his chest.

Sachiel has two long energy spears, one in each arm, which he can extend through hollows in his palms. When retracted, these spears remain parallel to his arms and protrude from his elbows.

He also displayed great regenerative powers, recovering in just a few hours from the damage he suffered from the explosion of an N² bomb. He demonstrated that he can develop new abilities after recovering from his injuries, since after the bomb explosion he obtained a powerful, wide-range energy attack, which forms a Christian cross rising towards the sky, very distinguishable where it impacts.

Finally, you can modify your body structure to a limited extent.

kaji

Age: 30 years Sex: Male Ryouji Kaji (加持 リョウジ, , Kaji Ryōji ?) is a major character in the Evangelion franchise.

Kaji appears to be a triple agent, working as a special inspector for NERV, but secretly conducting detailed investigations into the organization, fulfilling the dangerous role of an undercover spy.

Most of the time, Kaji is very calm and jovial, always remaining cool. He is very serene and maintains his unique sense of humor, even in times of crisis. He also shamelessly flirts with his female coworkers, an attitude that angers Misato Katsuragi.

Despite his irresponsible public image, Kaji demonstrates a high level of personal responsibility and wisdom regarding the world and the personal interactions of others.

He acts as a father figure to Asuka and Shinji, especially the latter. Asuka claims to be in love with him; however, Kaji coldly avoids her and repeatedly rejects her feelings, telling her she should look for other boys her own age.

He also offers Shinji advice and tries to help him understand the nature of social dynamics. But behind all this, Kaji appears to be a very melancholic and lonely individual, filled with doubts about his own sincerity and feelings.

He has a philosophical side that leans toward pessimism about human interaction, but also supports the individual's capacity for agency. From Kaji's perspective, people cannot truly understand themselves, perhaps not even each other, and fully understanding people is impossible.

He had a romantic relationship with Misato Katsuragi that began while they were still in college. There, they met Ritsuko, and the three are good friends.

At one point, SEELE orders Kaji to kidnap Vice Commander Kozo Fuyutsuki for interrogation.

Halo (aureo)

Halo (天使の輪, , Tenshi no wa ?, Aureola in its Spanish translation) is an energy ring that appears mainly in the Rebuild of Evangelion continuity.

These energy rings appear to represent manifestations of "divinity" (i.e., the supernatural nature of the entity that possesses it), such as the power of an angel or the awakening of an Evangelion Unit.

The only angel who hasn't shown one so far is the Tenth, and only the Third's halo has proven to be truly significant.
