She is the twin sister of Miquella, another demigod, and the two share an exceptionally strong bond. Despite her power, Malenia was born with a curse: the Scarlet Rot, a magical disease that slowly consumes her body and spirit, causing her constant pain and warping her flesh over time. This disease is like a magical cancer that decays everything it touches, transforming the land into a dead, polluted wasteland. Throughout her life, Malenia continually battled this curse, never being able to completely rid herself of it. Relationship with MiquellaMiquella, Malenia's twin brother, is another key character in her story. Despite being demigods, both siblings are vulnerable: Malenia because of her Scarlet Rot, and Miquella because of her curse of eternal youth, which prevents her from physically growing. Miquella is known to be an extremely wise and compassionate individual, and dedicated his life to attempting to cure both his own and his sister's curses. To Malenia, Miquella is the most important person in his life, and she faithfully serves as his guardian and protector. Miquella's Order and the Sacred Tree Miquella created the Haligtree as a refuge for himself and his sister, a place where they could find peace and, perhaps, a cure for their curses.
