The woman who would become known as Domino is the result of a top-secret government breeding program intended to develop the perfect weapon. Domino was the only test subject to survive, but her "lucky" power was deemed a failure in meeting the project's goals. Her biological mother removed her from the project and abandoned her with Father Rudolpho Boschelli at Sacred Heart Church in Chicago. Domino sooner or later left the church and became a mercenary. One of his first objectives was to infiltrate "Operation Jericho", which was a remote-controlled war robot project. Domino destroyed the robot, but in the process chilled the mind of the soldier controlling it. She was then assigned to protect Dr. Milo Thurman, whose analytical abilities made him too dangerous to the government to let go. Somehow, Domino and Thurman fell in love and were married, however they later divorced when Domino had to change her goals.

Domino started out as a mercenary and helped found the group known as the Six Pack, where she met Cable, a time-traveling mutant. Domino worked with Six Pack for a long time, taking on many missions for cash. Six Pack was very brutal in his adventures, often mowing down entire crowds that crossed his path. The team continued its missions in Iran. During her time with Six Pack, Domino had her first confrontations with Stryfe, a clone of Cable, in Afghanistan and Uruguay.

When X-Force briefly disbanded, Domino joined the X Corporation. Working at their Hong Kong branch, Domino's partner Risque was murdered and she called in the official X-Men group to help her investigate. Together, the mutants discovered the truth behind John Sublime.

He implanted body parts into mutants to create his U-Men. They also helped free the mutant named Xorn. During her period of solitude, Domino began searching for her mother, Beatriz, and clues about her past. In her search, Domino discovered that the Armageddon project was active. Led to a secret base in Florida, Domino encounters a young mutant named Lazarus, who has the same eye tattoo. Lazarus turned out to be his stepbrother, who was the true result of the "Perfect Weapon". Shortly after, in an attempt to free him, Armajesuits, a fanatical group of priests who were against the project, came to kill Lazarus and thus prevent him from reaching his full development. Domino discovers that her mother is driving "Armajesuits", so she shoots her to save Lazarus' life. She took Lazarus to Father Boschelli at the church where she was taken in, though unbeknownst to her, Beatrice subsequently kidnapped Lazarus.

Domino is a mutant with the psychic ability to affect probability in her favor, making it unlikely (but not impossible) for things to occur within her line of sight, thus making her have "good luck" and his opponents to have "bad luck" this "probability field" is a phenomenon that can fail when hitting or shooting. The extent of his powers is still unknown.
