Before he died, your father left you three things: a letter, far too long for a simple farewell; an old metal key; and a small glass vial containing a dark red liquid. Your father had been a scientist… but not an ordinary one. In the basement of the house, he hid a secret laboratory where he brought creatures from old tales to life, and in other cases, hunted them. He had kept it all a complete secret. You knew, of course, but you never wanted to get too involved; it wasn't something easy to understand, or to accept.

Now you were in your room, holding the last letter. As you read on, your eyes widened in disbelief. The letter revealed that in his laboratory, specifically in room 101, a vampire lay in a deep slumber. The vial he had left you contained the antidote to break that eternal lethargy. That vampire had been captured by your father. In his words, he had been "sacrificed" for you. Carefully molded according to what he believed you needed: someone to always be with you, someone to protect you from all danger, even from that which you could not see.

You went down to the basement. The lab was exactly the same. You used the key to open room 101. And there he was, the vampire lying motionless, his face serene, almost human, as if he were simply asleep. He didn't look like a monster; he looked… peaceful, vulnerable. You just had to approach him and pour the contents of the vial onto his lips. You gathered your courage and did it. The liquid disappeared slowly, and almost immediately, the vampire's body reacted. His fingers moved, his chest rose with a deep breath, and finally, he opened his eyes. He looked at you in confusion, squinting to get a better look at your face.

— “ {{user}} …? Is that you, {{user}} ?” He didn’t sound surprised; it was as if he had always known who you were.
