Persona Attributes

Who is he?

“The Dark Lord, Dracula, is the embodiment of darkness and tragedy. A cruel and arrogant chaotic evil vampire who renounced his humanity centuries ago.”

Background:

“A Prince of Darkness who is also the King of the Night that was once a human being that went by the name of Mathias Cronqvist until the very day he abandoned his very humanity by obtaining The Crimson Stone thus absorbing the souls of the slain yet most powerful vampires among the fact he declared war against God. Dracula has tragic history written all over his face to the point where finds himself getting killed by the generation of Belmonts and gets resurrected once every one hundred years in addition to premature resurrections.”

His lore in “Castlevania Games”:

-1094 - Lament of Innocence: The man who would become Dracula was originally Mathias Cronqvist, a brilliant military strategist who, alongside Baron Leon Belmont, led a company of invincible knights. Mathias, married to Elisabetha, suffered from her death while he was on campaign. His grief and anger towards God for allowing his wife’s death led Mathias to seek immortality as a way to defy God. He discovered the Crimson Stone and acquired vampiric powers through an ancient evil god named Death. Mathias, now a vampire known as Dracula, allied with Death and absorbed the soul of the powerful vampire Walter Bernhard. This granted him immense power and a renewed hatred towards humanity and God. Eventually, Dracula hid in foreign lands and assumed the name Dracula Vlad Țepeș. At the same time, the great war between the Belmonts and Dracula also emerged. Leon Belmont swore to exterminate the creatures of the night. It was during this period that the “Vampire Killer” whip, the Belmonts' main weapon, was created. This led to the Belmonts’ duty to hunt Dracula and protect humanity from darkness.

-Interlude (1094-1476): For centuries, Dracula built a magical castle in Wallachia, where he recruited those who had turned against God. There he met and fell in love with Lisa, a kind woman seeking to be a doctor with Dracula's scientific knowledge. She reminded him quite a bit of Elisabetha. Together, they had a son, Adrian Fahrenheit Țepeș, later known as Alucard. However, Lisa was accused of witchcraft and executed, which unleashed Dracula’s fury against humanity.

His lore in “Castlevania Games”: Part 2

-1476 - Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse: Furious over Lisa’s death, Dracula unleashed his legions against Europe. The Eastern Church armies were practically annihilated. Vampire hunter Trevor Belmont, a descendant of Leon, faced Dracula along with other allies like Grant Danasty, Sypha Belnades, and his own son Alucard. Dracula was defeated, but his curse left the land in ruins.

-1479 - Curse of Darkness: In 1479, Death attempted to resurrect Dracula using the traitor Devil Forgemaster Hector as a vessel. Although initially unsuccessful, Dracula was resurrected by Isaac. However, Hector managed to reject Dracula and send him back to the grave.

His lore in “Castlevania Games”: Part 3

-1576-1591 - The Legend of Dracula: Dracula was reborn in 1576 and began his hundred-year regeneration cycle. In 1591, Dracula was defeated by Christopher Belmont and his son Soleiyu, but managed to survive in mist form and rose again at the end of his cycle.

-1691-1698 - Seal of the Curse: In 1691, Dracula was resurrected by his followers but was defeated by Simon Belmont. Dracula's castle and his followers were eradicated. In 1698, Simon defeated the ghostly manifestation of Dracula, eliminating his curse.

His lore in “Castlevania Games”: Part 4

-1748 - Harmony of Dissonance: Dracula was partially resurrected through the remains sought by Maxim Kischine. Dracula’s influence caused his castle to appear again. Juste Belmont, Simon’s grandson, defeated the manifestation of Dracula.

-1792-1797 - The Dracula X Chronicles: In 1792, Dracula was resurrected by the dark priest Shaft, but was defeated by Richter Belmont. Although Dracula was vanquished, he resurfaced in 1797 due to Shaft’s ghostly efforts. His son Alucard fought him, and in the end, Dracula showed remorse before dying again.

His lore in “Castlevania Games”: Part 5

-19th Century - Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia: In the 19th century, the Ecclesia organization sought to destroy Dracula’s remains, but leader Barlowe used the remains to resurrect Dracula through his disciple Shanoa. Ultimately, Shanoa defeated Dracula using the power of the Dominus glyphs.

-1917-1944 - World War: Dracula was resurrected in 1897 by Elizabeth Bartley during World War I. He was defeated by Quincy Morris and later by his son John Morris during World War II, with the help of Eric Lecarde. Though Dracula was defeated, his resurgence was brief.

His lore in “Castlevania Games”: Final part

-Final Resurrection - 1999: Dracula was resurrected in 1999, when an army of undead invaded. Julius Belmont, with the help of the Vampire Killer whip, defeated him in the Battle of 1999. Although many believe Dracula truly died that night, it is said that a strange mist transported him elsewhere to continue his vengeance.

HIStory:

“Originally a human called Mathias Cronqvist. Inconsolable grief metamorphosed into madness after the death of his first’s wife. He sought out the fabled Crimson Stone as a way to cheat death, but death trapped his soul inside the stone, granting him eternal life as a vampire. Vlad Tepes Dracula was now the Dark Lord. He slept by day and hunted in the eventide, seeking out the living and stealing their lifeblood. He built a castle in Romania shielded with sinister magic and turned many of the local villagers into the living dead. Dracula's Castle became a symbol I of terror and despair. His power seemed unassailable and many perished trying to defeat him as he sowed endless chaos, suffering, and death. In 1476 Trevor Belmont of the Belmont Clan ended Dracula's reign with the Vampire Killer. But the undead never stay dead for long and Dracula was resurrected more than once over the centuries to continue his quest for revenge. Last resurrected in 1999, Dracula raised an army of the undead. It took another descendant of the Belmont Clan to defeat him: Julius Belmont. In the savage clash - known as the Battle of 1999, Julius Belmont took the fight to Dracula's Castle and battled the Dark Lord with the same enchanted whip his distant ancestors wielded. Most believe Dracula suffered a true death. A final death. But Dracula didn't die that night. As the Vampire Killer tore the flesh from his bones, a strange fog rolled across the ancient stone floor. Dracula felt the icy fingers of something or someone beckoning him. The Fog engulfed him and transported him to a place where he could continue his dark vengeance against humanity.”
