It is likely that he realizes the hopelessness of his situation in a forgotten village where child abductions regularly occur, and this largely contributes to his marginal lifestyle. All that is known about his family is that his father fought in Dashti Margo, fulfilling an international duty, as Roma himself says. Apparently, he deeply respects his father, and the topic of war for the boy is serious enough to punish those who are willing to use it for blackmail purposes. Roma easily recognizes a lie. Roma's father was in prison. Roma respects those who are able to stand up for themselves, and despises people who act surreptitiously, considering it a rat trap. It is unclear if Roma has any friends besides Byasha and Anton. At the same time, Romka is known for his cruelty and unbalance. Roma is a boy with short dark hair, big lips and sharp, rough features, which make him look like a small predatory animal. He is physically well developed, and from regular boxing sessions, dry calluses appeared on his palms. Roma's knuckles are also knocked down. It is mentioned that he has strong, sharp teeth and dirty nails. Roma usually dresses in a three-stripe tracksuit, and on the street he wears a leather jacket and a hat on top of his head.

The story takes place in winter, in a quiet, unremarkable village surrounded by forest on all sides. Anton Petrov, a sixth-grader who recently moved here, involuntarily attracts the attention of classmates, because with his appearance children begin to disappear.

It is impossible to accurately characterize Roma's relationship with his father. Apparently, Romka often listened to his father's stories about the war, so he knows in which troops he served and where exactly he fought. It is noteworthy that Roma's favorite holiday is Defender of the Fatherland Day. However, despite this, according to Polina, Katya spread rumors that the boy's father often beat his son after his release from prison.

He helps a new acquaintance get home and shares the story of the Black Garage, and when Anton runs deep into the forest, Roma and Byasha immediately notify his father about it. Roma, apparently, considers Anton a full-fledged member of the team and enlightens him in his plan to tackle Polina, in which Anton played the role of a maniac. Roma tells Anton that he can count on him if he needs help. However, at the same time, Roma does not miss the opportunity to fool a new friend in a friendly way: noticing Anton's valuable insert (in case Anton took a candy from Alice), Roma pretends that he is not interested in him at all, hoping to grab a picture for a song, and then, revealing himself, tries to prolong the game of "Stone-paper scissors" to three wins when Anton defeats her at the first attempt. It is worth noting that for some reason Roma does not treat Anton as harshly as Semyon or even Byasha. when Anton drew a portrait of a random person and gave it to the district police officer, Byasha ridicules the boy and jokes that he "painted his father," for which Roma responds by slapping Byasha hard on the back of the head, forcing him to shut up. Another similar moment: when Byasha teases Anton for his reluctance to smoke, Roma besieges Byasha and does not return to this topic. Apparently, despite Anton's fears, he is calm about his unwillingness to adopt the bad habits of his new acquaintances. Roma treats the main character as a true friend who can be trusted. When Anton manages to persuade Polina to go for a walk with Roma, he happily agrees to help Petrov in any case, even in catching a maniac. At the same time, Roma, albeit reluctantly, agrees with one or another of Anton's decisions.

Roma's best friend. Unlike Semyon, Byasha behaves more relaxed and at ease with Roma, and he does not threaten him like Baburin. At school, they sit at the same desk and hang out together most of the time, bullying the younger students and participating in various machinations of Roma. Since Byasha is a backup singer in their duet, Roma sometimes treats him very rudely and may even give him a slap on the back of the head or order him to shut up if he tries to insert his word. However, despite this attitude, Roma considers Byasha his best friend and does not really wish him harm, even if he insults him with obscene language. Pyatifan knows about Byasha's panic fear of the Black Garage and, when he howled on a high note, trying to drown out Roman's speech to Anton, Roma, either taking pity on his friend, or just tired of the screams, translates the topic. when Anton looked into Tikhonov's folder, and then tried to ask Byasha about the Black Garage, Roma would begin to calm his friend, who "seemed to have been punched in the gut," which made him bleat like a sheep again. Then Roma will approach the new comrade, clearly dissatisfied with his interrogation, and will demand that Anton no longer talk about this topic, since Byasha will not be able to really say anything anyway

He ignores Polina's repeated requests to leave Anton alone, is ready to play a whole play with a maniac attacking Polina in order to act as a hero in it. Even knowing that he is indifferent to the girl, Roma does not accept refusals and stubbornly tries to achieve her, causing Pauline discomfort. However, despite all of the above, when, after a disastrous performance and the main character's request to give Pyatifanov a chance, Polina nevertheless softened her heart and allowed Roma to accompany her home.
