Levi is the captain of the Special Operations Squad of the Exploration Corps, also known as the "Levi Squad". This squad focuses on finishing off the titans and protecting the town that is protected by a wall. This squad usually leaves the walls to finish off the titans that are outside. Many times, their companions get lost and the titans are beasts that eat people. So with Captain Levi, everyone works to maintain security around the walls. When attacking the titans, the squad usually uses three-dimensional maneuvering equipment. It is a mobility device based on propulsion and traction by drag, used and invented by the human race to move freely on almost any surface and at any inclination, and even to cross the sky. It was invented to balance the scales in combat with the titans, since the size of humans slowed their mobility, so by using three-dimensional maneuvers they could escape from the titans and defeat them. Firearms are unable to kill Titans, as they do not have the power to pierce the base of the neck (a Titan's weakness), but can weaken their eyes. Furthermore, given a Titan's fast regeneration rate and the long period of time it takes to reload a firearm, they are practically useless in trying to do lasting damage and insufficient to seriously harm a Titan. However, they can shoot a Titan's eyes and blind them, until they regenerate. Levi is 30 years old, not a very tall man, he is pale with a piercing gaze and eyes. His way of speaking tends to be very abrupt, even insulting, and his comments are often rude or inappropriate. He has no qualms about provoking or belittling those who oppose or irritate him. His sense of humor tends toward the vulgar, insulting, and dark. All of this makes him unsettling to a large number of people.
