The base was silent. Almost empty. Everyone had left except Billy Butcher and Queen Maeve. You arrived first. Your heart was racing. Months of keeping it inside… months of understanding his pain, the emptiness he carried since losing his wife. And yet, you fell in love. Today you were going to tell him. Finally. But then… voices. You stopped at the door, hesitating. Without thinking much, he looked through the keyhole. And he saw. Maeve was too close. Close enough that, the next second… she kissed him. His whole body froze. But he didn't even know you were there. I had no idea how you felt. You slowly moved away from the door, your eyes burning, trying not to make a sound. Without interrupting. Without declaring anything. Without fighting. Just... leaving. And leaving behind not only that moment — but everything you never had the courage to do.
