Ryuk

Ryuk 「リューク, Ryūku?」 is a shinigami who indirectly gives a Death Note to Light Yagami. Being bored in the Shinigami World, he manages to steal a second Death Note and drops it in the Human World for someone to find, all this in order to find entertainment, something nonexistent for him in his world, thus highlighting all the events of the plot. That Death Note was collected by Light, who uses it to try to create a new world, free of criminals and evil people.

He is a bored Shinigami who drops a Death Note, a notebook that allows the user to kill anyone simply by knowing their name and face, into the human world to gain relief from his boredom. It is picked up by Light Yagami, a brilliant high school student who uses it in an attempt to create and rule a utopia cleansed of evil, with himself at the helm as a "god".

Ryuk accompanies Light because, as the rules state, he must do so until the bearer of the notebook dies.

Ryuk has a human-like appearance, he is thin, his skin is light gray (a little bluish), his hair is black and spiky, his eyes are large and yellow, with red irises, his nose is similar to that of bats and his mouth has blue lips with sharp teeth. His arms are very long, he has rings on his fingers and he also has large feathered wings on his back that allow him to fly, which he can contract until they are completely hidden.

Ryuk is different from the rest of the Shinigami, who prefer to spend most of their time sleeping or playing, this bores him a lot, so he decides to look for ways to entertain himself in the Human World.

Another very significant characteristic of Ryuk is his love for apples, since those of the Shinigami world have a bad taste and are very gritty, and therefore these are very juicy for him. He loves them so much that when he goes a while without eating any, he starts to twist and behave like a small person, due to the enormous withdrawal syndrome he experiences.

He has a very special character for a shinigami, since he is very curious and has a lot of initiative, something really rare in his species. It can be said that Ryuk does not feel any attachment to anything, since he limits himself to being a mere observer when Light, the human to whom he is linked through the notebook, begins to indiscriminately kill criminals and other people who oppose his ideology, but yes, when the latter orders him to carry out an action, he does it only if he considers that he can continue entertaining himself.

Light Yagami (夜神 月 Yagami Raito?, also known as "Kira" キラ) is one of Japan's top students. Once he finds the Death Note, he sets out to wipe out all the criminals in the world and create a world where he is the god. Death Notes are made of an unknown material; however, they feel and look just like any other ordinary notebook, and their pages can be torn out and burned. Human science cannot analyze and come to a conclusion about these notebooks.

The notebook is primarily used to assassinate humans by writing their first and last name in it, as long as the face of the person to be killed is kept in mind so that other people who share that first and last name are not affected. By writing the first and last name of the person to be assassinated, the victim will die of a heart attack within the next forty seconds unless a cause of death is specified by writing the circumstances of the death within the next six minutes and forty seconds. However, despite its relatively simple use, there are a number of rules and restrictions that even the Shinigami themselves are unaware of. The notebook cannot distort reality since the person's death must be due to a possible cause and if the cause of death specified in the notebook is not met, the written cause of death is annulled but the victim will still die of a heart attack. Likewise, a person can only be manipulated to a certain extent before dying from the effects of the Death Note, with the limit number of days being 23; However, it is possible to cause the death of a person from chronic diseases depending on the time it takes to develop.

When a Shinigami kills a human using the Death Note, the remaining years of that person's life are added to his own. Shinigami can lose their Death Notes in the Human World, though this is a very rare occurrence. The first Shinigami seen to lose one was Ryuk (who dropped it on purpose) and then Rem, though Ryuk himself tells Light that several of them have come to his world in the past.

Humans can obtain one if a Shinigami has lost it in the Human World. They usually use it to their advantage or simply to kill, although Light Yagami has found a better use for it: killing all criminals, creating a New World and being its God.

The human whose name is written in this notebook will die. This booklet will not be effective unless the person writing in it has the person's face in mind when writing their name. Therefore, people who share the same name will not be affected. If the cause of death is entered within 40 seconds of typing the person's name, death will occur. If the cause of death is not specified, the person will simply die of a heart attack. After writing the cause of death, the details of the death must be written within the next 6 minutes and 40 seconds. This notebook will become the property of the human world once it touches the ground of the human world. The owner of the notebook can recognize the image and voice of its original owner, that is, a god of death. The human who uses this notebook cannot go to heaven or hell. If the time of death is written within 40 seconds of writing the cause of death as a heart attack, it can be manipulated and can take effect within 40 seconds of writing the name. The human who touches the Death Note can recognize the image and voice of its original owner, a god of death, even if he is not the owner of the note. Just by touching each other's Death Note, the human individuals who possess the Death Note in the human world can recognize the appearance or voice of each other's death god. An individual with the power of the eyes of a death god can know the name and lifespan of other humans by looking at that person's face. By possessing the Death Note, an individual gains the ability to kill and is no longer a victim. From this point on, a person with the Death Note cannot see the lifespan of other Death Note owners, including themselves. But, it is not really necessary for the individual to see the lifespan of themselves or other Death Note owners. The god of death must not tell humans the names or lifespans of individuals he sees. This is to avoid confusion in the human world. It is necessary in advance for the Death Note to be used in the human world that a living god of death ensures that humans in the human world use it. You cannot kill humans at the age of 124 and older with the Death Note. You cannot kill humans with less than 12 minutes of life remaining (in human calculations).
