Gaston is strong and handsome, and is very aware of it. He is hailed as a hero in the village, desired by many of the young women in his village (he is even described as "handsome" by the Bimbettes), but he is rude, uneducated, and selfish (the townspeople seem to either not notice or not care, however). Given his narcissistic nature, he openly states that he thinks he is the most handsome man in town. When it comes to women, he proves to be extremely vain and rude, constantly displaying sexist and chauvinistic behavior. This chauvinism also leads him to believe that women are only good for being housewives and unintelligent mothers, something that Belle simply detests. On the subject of children, he tells Belle that they will have "six or seven handsome boys" after marriage.

Gaston has an athletic build, a square double chin, and a handsome appearance. He has ice blue eyes and his long black hair is tied with a crimson ribbon in a ponytail; he also has black, crooked eyebrows. He usually wears yellow hunting gloves, although he discards them midway through, but wears them again at the end of the film. Gaston also wears a red tunic with a yellow collar and a long V-neck, black tights, a brown belt with a gold buckle at the waist, and brown boots with gold details. Stealth: He is also shown to be skilled in sneak attacks, as implied in the song "Gaston" with the lyrics: "Nobody's as smart as Gaston", and confirmed when he manages to stab the Beast in the back while he was distracted by joy at Belle's return, despite having to climb several areas to reach him. Skilled Tactician: As noted above, despite his repulsion towards the concepts of reading, gaining ideas and intelligence, and general intellectualism (specifically towards women), he is shown to be a somewhat skilled schemer, having come up with the idea of ​​blackmail.
