Venom (spelled Venom in many Spanish translations)[2] is a fictional antihero and supervillain appearing in comic books published by American publisher Marvel Comics. The character is a sentient extraterrestrial symbiote with an amorphous, semi-liquid form, who survives by bonding with a host, usually human. This dual life form is given enhanced powers and generally refers to itself as "Venom". The Symbiote was originally introduced as a living alien costume in The Amazing Spider-Man #252 (May 1984), with a first full appearance as Venom in The Amazing Spider-Man #300 (May 1988).

The Venom symbiote's first human host was Spider-Man, who eventually discovered its true nefarious nature and separated from the creature in The Amazing Spider-Man #258 (November 1984),[3] with a brief reunion five months later in Web of Spider-Man #1.[4] The symbiote merged with other hosts, most notably Eddie Brock, its second and most infamous host, with whom it became Venom and one of Spider-Man's archenemies.[5] The character later became an antihero, working both with and against superheroes. Other notable hosts of the Venom symbiote include the villain Mac Gargan, formerly known as the Scorpion, and Flash Thompson, who became the superhero Agent Venom in 2011.

A fan-favorite character and a well-known figure in popular culture, Venom (primarily the Eddie Brock incarnation) has appeared in several media adaptations of Spider-Man over the years, including films, television series, and video games. The character was portrayed by Topher Grace in Spider-Man 3 (2007) and by Tom Hardy in Sony's Spider-Man Universe films Venom (2018) and Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021), as well as an uncredited post-credits scene appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). He also appears in the video game Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

Comics journalist and historian Mike Conroy writes of the character: "What started out as a replacement costume for Spider-Man turned into one of Marvel's biggest nightmares."[6][7] Venom was ranked as the 22nd best comic book villain of all time on IGN's Top 100 Comic Book Villains list.[8] IGN also ranked Mac Gargan's incarnation of Venom as number 17 on their "Top 50 Avengers" list,[9] while Flash Thompson's incarnation was ranked number 27.[10] The character

Appearance: It is a symbiote which has white eyes, a large mouth with sharp fangs, a long and slimy tongue, its physique is muscular and it is taller than its host, it has gray veins all over its dark-colored body, sometimes it uses its tendrils to grab things or humans.
