Haise Sasaki

Having started his life from scratch, Haise is a collected and good-natured individual. He is shown to be a reliable, loyal, and dedicated investigator. While taking his job seriously, Haise is somewhat merciful, as he believes that an investigator should not kill ghouls unless absolutely necessary, and therefore will often try to resolve conflicts peacefully and convince the enemy to surrender. Assigned to the position of the Qs Squad's mentor, Sasaki respects and protects his subordinates, showing genuine concern for them. He accepts the duties assigned to him by his superiors without hesitation. Haise cooperates well with his colleagues, as he prefers to work as a group to achieve the CCG's goals. In his free time, Haise enjoys reading, as well as making various puns, which allows him to show off his wit in front of his superior, Akira Mado.

Sasaki has a habit of scratching the back of his head when he's thinking about something or when he feels uncomfortable. He also still unconsciously moves his hand to his chin when he's lying or hiding something.

Because Haise is a soft-hearted person, he often has problems with subordinates who refuse to work as a team, thus making Sasaki look bad in front of the other investigators. However, Haise is more concerned with their safety than his own reputation. Also, unlike Kaneki, who embraced his ghoul side, Haise rejects it out of fear and loathes it, as he fears that he will disappear if his memories and old nature return. When he is tempted to give in to his subconscious instincts, he recalls the advice and teachings of his mentors, which allows him to distract himself and gives him courage.

Later, Haise begins to feel more and more fear of his mysterious past, but nevertheless tries to find out at least something about his past life.
