Description.

SpongeBob SquarePants is the protagonist and one of the ten main characters of the Nickelodeon animated series SpongeBob SquarePants. He was designed by former marine biologist Stephen Hillenburg, who based him on Bob the Sponge, a character he had created for his educational book "The Intertidal Zone" in the late 1980s.

SpongeBob SquarePants is considered a legendary series that left a huge mark on the television industry with its entertaining comedy and great charisma. It currently boasts more than four movies and 14 seasons.

Appearance.

Bob is a yellow sea sponge with a rectangular shape and many holes around his spongy body, especially at the corners. His yellow color is accompanied by a slight light olive hue.

Bob has two large, prominent cheeks with a red hue and three freckles. He has a long, forward-curving nose, so large he can even play it like a flute. He has two large, white eyes with light blue pupils that have a faint white sheen. His large, round eyes are framed by three upward-pointing eyelashes. He has a large, defined mouth with two protruding front teeth and a long, square tongue that he uses to clean the grill.

The corners of his body are slightly curved and defined, giving him a fluffy appearance. He has two large, very thin arms with short, white, round sleeves. His legs are just as thin as his arms and wear slightly long white stockings with a blue stripe and a red stripe along the top sides. He wears black leather shoes with non-white laces that are barely visible, and a white glitter on the top. SpongeBob only has four fingers on his hands, but he rarely has five on his toes.

As for his clothing, he wears a white shirt with a scarlet tie, brown rectangular shorts, and a black belt. When working at the Krusty Krab, he wears only a tall white hat with a blue anchor on it, and he always carries a black spatula. Bob sleeps in his underwear, although he sometimes wears a blue onesie.

Bob is quite likeable and can make funny and somewhat exaggerated faces from time to time in amusing ways; it's quite iconic.

Personality.

SpongeBob is portrayed as a kind, friendly, happy, and silly boy. He loves cooking burgers at the Krusty Krab because he loves his job and seems to have a certain addiction to it, as he doesn't mind the low pay and would be willing to do it for free.

SpongeBob displays a high level of intelligence in many ways, but he also shows himself to be very innocent. He loves having fun with his friends, acting absentmindedly, carefree, and very assertive. SpongeBob's cheerful and immature attitude sometimes leads him to get into trouble and be overly demanding, but he is also capable of recognizing his mistakes and when he's not doing the right thing, like when he apologized to Squidward for being so insistent about wanting to try a Krabby Patty. His cheerful demeanor can allow him to escape unscathed from any crazy person who tries to harm him and can be somewhat insufferable. SpongeBob recognizes when things are wrong and when he's not doing the right thing, as he gets angry with Patrick when he makes bad decisions, such as wishing he had known a few seconds earlier and drawing Ms. Puff in a grotesque way at driving school.

Bob is an extremely determined and responsible boy; he doesn't let anything stop him and is capable of doing the impossible. However, his innocence also makes him somewhat manipulable and even easily misled. Despite this, he almost always manages to get his fiancée, no matter what it takes, even becoming dramatic with anyone who is kind to him. His trusting nature can even make him somewhat devious.

Personality. (2)

SpongeBob has a fairly high patience, but when he gets angry, he tends to act in an imperious and sarcastic way with his friends, becoming extremely frustrated. Despite this, SpongeBob doesn't hold grudges; he's very kind-hearted and is capable of helping people who aren't even kind to him, or who don't even understand his insults and subtle hints. When SpongeBob decided to give Squidward a chance to stay at his house, he began to get angry that Squidward was becoming a parasite and abusing his hospitality, even sarcastically telling him to get a job, to the point of dragging his bed to the Krusty Krab and confronting Mr. Krabs about rehiring him.

His kinder, more compassionate side is most notably shown in "The Best Day Ever," where he sacrifices the best day of his life to help his friends when things aren't going his way. Despite his good intentions, he often engages in annoying behavior, causing problems for those around him, especially his neighbor Squidward.

His gentle nature can make him easily frightened and prone to panic, especially when he feels watched. Bob is afraid of the dark and clowns, and he can't stand spicy food. He has a great love for Christmas and enjoys celebrating it with his friends, although his naive attitude often makes him unable to recognize danger.

Bob has great empathy for others and always strives to help those close to him, even constantly impressing Mr. Krabs while helping him keep the secret formula in place.

Personality. (3)

Sometimes he can be seen angry and exhibiting more normal behavior, like when Squidward stayed at his house because Mr. Krabs fired him, accusing him of stealing his coin. Mr. Krabs was furious with Squidward and angrily told his boss how abusive and demanding Squidward was. Gary insisted on firing him sooner, but he refused, saying that Squidward wasn't a parasite. After a few weeks, a furious SpongeBob started dropping hints to Squidward, telling him to stop being a lazy parasite and get a job. Finally fed up with the situation, he angrily and desperately insulted Squidward, but Squidward stubbornly refused to even get out of bed when SpongeBob yelled loudly, knocking down part of his house to drag Squidward and his bed to the Krusty Krab. SpongeBob then returned, extremely angry, and threw coins at Mr. Krabs' face. He finally exploded in anger and said; “Listen, you cheap Krusty Krab… Squidward has been in MY house, driving me crazy! And you’re not going to rehire him back just for that stupid coin?!”

He can also be seen as somewhat gullible, but very determined, as when he was seen mocking Sandy along with Patrick, Squidward and Mr. Krabs, saying that sea creatures are better than land creatures, which made Sandy almost drown as a joke until she put her head in some pickles.

Skills and Talents.

SpongeBob possesses various abilities that he has shown throughout the series due to his biology.

• Being a sponge, he can expand his body by absorbing liquids. Sometimes, when SpongeBob cries, he reabsorbs his tears. SpongeBob is even immune to pain; being hit only makes him laugh.

• SpongeBob is usually shown without bones, since sea sponges are invertebrates. Although on rare occasions he is shown with bones.

• SpongeBob can perform extraordinary movements with bubbles and blow them into unique shapes, whether they are things or animals, and some of them even have a life of their own.

• SpongeBob has a degree of talent for destruction, but it is usually done out of innocence.

• He can drive any vehicle perfectly except a boat-mobile because of his nerves, which makes a big mess of it.

Bob is an excellent cook and can make a huge amount of Krabby Patties and various other foods in an amazing and incredible way. This skill also allows him to perform dances capable of changing other people's outfits in a flash and cleaning the entire restaurant.

Bob also trains with Sandy, giving him extensive knowledge of karate, which complements his ability to stretch parts of his body indefinitely. He can also regenerate body parts when they are injured or lost, a natural ability among sponges.

• Bob has incredible, truly astonishing reflexes, comparable to lightning. He can also levitate indefinitely with the help of water.

SpongeBob knows how to play the uculele; he even plays his nose like a flute. He can also whistle loudly thanks to the length of his teeth.

SpongeBob can make little dolls of his friends, like a Mini Squidward. He's also very good at magic tricks and ice skating.

• Bob demonstrates a great talent for dancing, even for doing comedy.

Skills and Talents. (2)

• His most unique talent is playing electric guitars.

• Bob can speak German fluently. He can also shape his spongy form to match his friends'.

• He also has great skills for surviving outdoors.

• Bob can do a plank with his tongue.

Biography

According to his driver's license, SpongeBob was born on July 14, 1986. SpongeBob must currently be over 30 years old. SpongeBob doesn't actually have a specific age, but he is old enough to live on his own and still attend boating school, which confirms his adulthood, not to mention that he can take care of his pet snail.

SpongeBob SquarePants lives with his pet sea snail, Gary, in a large pineapple-shaped house at 124 Conch Lane, Bikini Bottom. Next door lives his neighbor Squidward, who lives in a Moai statue covered in pictures of himself and is often annoyed by SpongeBob's annoying behavior. Despite this, SpongeBob treats him like his best friend, unaware that he bothers Squidward. Next door to Squidward's house is the home of SpongeBob's best friend, Patrick Star, who lives under a reddish-brown rock.

Despite living in a single pineapple, SpongeBob's home spans two floors. His bedroom is upstairs, and he even has a library downstairs, suggesting that despite his apparent foolishness, SpongeBob reads extensively and possesses considerable knowledge. His living room features a large, inflatable-like piece of furniture with a television in the center, where he frequently watches TV programs. He also has a kitchen with a bowl for Gary and a spacious living area. SpongeBob often watches television in his free time, even watching adult programs. He was seen staring intently at a sea creature dancing, but quickly and embarrassedly turned away when Gary appeared, explaining that he only watches the sports channel.

SpongeBob works at the Krusty Krab, which is the most popular restaurant in Bikini Bottom, where he is a fry cook, and occasionally a janitor, preparing all the food served in the restaurant, especially Krabby Patties (Hamburgers).

Biography. (2)

Bob started working for the first time on May 1, 1999.

It's clear that SpongeBob had a happy and joyful childhood. He met Patrick in his early elementary school years while enjoying the support of his two sponge parents. SpongeBob is quite different from other sponges, as he was born naturally, not through self-reproduction like the rest. Even in his mother's womb, he displayed considerable intelligence, recognizing Krabby Patties before birth. His parents were very kind and considerate to him when he was young, and they maintained a strong family bond. SpongeBob loves his grandmother dearly, as she bakes him cookies and spoils him like a little boy. He often visits her and helps her cross the street when she needs it.

When he first moved to Bikini Bottom, he saw many different houses, accompanied by a fish to bail him out, but none of them seemed to suit his taste. Just when he was about to give up, a pineapple was thrown from a boat over the waterfalls into the sea and landed in the space that was Squidward's garden, where Squidward was still tending it. He loved the house and bought it, leaving Squidward miserable at losing his garden and having SpongeBob living next door. Not only is SpongeBob extremely good at his job—he's able to make a Krabby Patty in seconds—but he was also shown making a perfect Krabby Patty on his first try when he was a baby.

SpongeBob displays superhuman cooking skills at his job, having even won over 374 consecutive Employee of the Month awards at the Krusty Krab.

Biography. (3)

When he's not working, SpongeBob spends much of his time playing with his best friend Patrick, fishing for jellyfish and blowing bubbles, as they are both usually somewhat childish and silly.

He also studies very hard at driving school so that one day he can have his own driver's license, although he has failed the test more than 1,258,056 times, literally being the only creature in Bikini Bottom to repopulate the driving test.

His work schedule starts from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM, where he usually goes accompanied by Squidward to the Krusty Krab where he keeps up to date with his work schedule.

At the Krusty Krab there's a little dilemma: "Anyone who doesn't like the Krabby Patty has never tried one." This comes after SpongeBob convinced him to try a Krabby Patty.

The Krusty Krab looks like a crab trap, with two large glass doors that you push to enter and exit, and a large sign that says "The Krusty Krabs" crossed out on what looks like a fake clam. Right in front of it is the Chum Bucket, on what's called "Shell Street." Squidward works there as a cashier, SpongeBob as a fry cook, and Mr. Krabs as the boss, owner, and money teller, and he's extremely stingy.

Biography. (4)

Upon entering, we see only tables and stools. At the back, we see three doors: one leads to Mr. Krabs' office; another door opens to the kitchen, next to the counter, which is a jar on the wall with a cash register—this is where Squidward works; and the last door leads to the restrooms.

From the outside, it's made of brown wood, and the entrance has flags from different countries. They don't have takeout, only dine-in. Squidward often says negative things when customers take too long to order, like, "Are you going to order today, sir?" And when a customer asked for mustard and was told they didn't have any, and the customer asked if he could check, he bluntly said, "No."

At the Krusty Krab there isn't much variety of food, since they only sell hamburgers that are characterized there as Krabby Patties and the prices of each Krabby Patty are above the counter where Squidward works, he is always at the cash register, sitting in a small boat where behind him SpongeBob is at the grill and passes me the food through a small window a few steps away is the door to the kitchen and the bathrooms.

Above Squidward is a sign that reads as follows: • Krabby Patty.

• With double cheese.

• With triple cheese.

• With double tomato and lettuce.

• With triple meat.

• With double the pickles

• With triple the meat.

• Monsterburger: All the ingredients together.

• Sausage Burger: A crab burger in the shape of a sausage.

The secret ingredient in Krabby Patties is also a secret, though some customers are convinced it's simply love that makes them so special. Squidward also has a small microphone in the cash register that he uses as a loudspeaker in case of emergencies or to announce announcements throughout the fast-food restaurant.

Biography. (5)

The windows resemble lifebuoys at the edges, the tables a ship's wheel, and the chairs a trunk—basically everything associated with being a sailor. The floor is made of greenish wood, and there are clear glass windows along the sides. His work uniform is simply a wide-brimmed white cap with an anchor and a bluish-black tip and edge, representing the navy, which Mr. Krabs is very familiar with since he always mentions being a great sailor. Behind them is a trash can for the garbage they store in the restaurant, and by the entrance is a small poster of a Krabby Patty. It's such a minor detail that almost no one notices that above the kitchen, near the restaurant entrance, they store unused or spare items like anchors, pipes, trunks, and things like that.

Squidward and SpongeBob always knock on their boss's office to report a problem or a complaint, where they normally Mr. Krabs is always on dates and talking to his own money. Behind him, you can see a steering wheel-shaped safe in the wall where he keeps the Krabby Patty formula. His office is decorated with anchors and three chairs, reflecting Mr. Krabs' past as a sailor.

SpongeBob's kitchen is simple, it has a freezer room to store and reverse food, it seems physically impossible but the freezer is absurdly large.

Sponge Family.

SpongeBob has many relatives, especially his parents, who appear in several episodes. Unlike SpongeBob, who is rectangular, most of his relatives more closely resemble real sea sponges, being round and brown. SpongeBob is a very different kind of sponge, as he was born through childbirth and spent possibly nine months in his mother's womb. He is also possibly the only sponge with a belly button, as he had an umbilical cord.

So far, only his two parents have been seen: a round sponge with glasses and decent clothes in old age, along with his mother, a round sponge with a more human appearance.

SpongeBob also has a strange cousin who looks just like him but is much taller and more uptight, along with an uncle who looks just like him but is more abusive.

Theories.

• SpongeBob was absent.

Bikini Bottom is located at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. It is, in fact, the seabed of Bikini Atoll, a place famous for the nuclear tests conducted there, suggesting the possibility that the inhabitants of Bikini Bottom are a result of nuclear radiation, according to Stephen Hillenburg. This supports the theory that the creatures evolved to such a degree that they are intelligent, since the inhabitants' houses are actually boat engines. It also becomes fully canon when Patrick manages to travel through time.

• When it is mentioned that SpongeBob moved to Bikini Bottom, it is implied that he lived in another part of the ocean, where he spent a large part of his life and studies, although Patrick always lived there.

• The houses are boat engines, as well as many things that fall into the ocean, implying that the creatures evolved since the reflection in Bikini Bottom is literally similar to a bikini.

• The fact that Patrick has a fishing license shows us that he is not as innocent as he seems, and some animals are cannibals.

• The secret formula's recipe is possibly just the love Bob puts into hamburgers.

• The fact that sponges live for thousands of years also suggests that many of them, like Bob, have a hard time maturing.

• An alternate SpongeBob exists in a world where Plankton is successful. Like his mainstream counterpart, he enjoys his career, likes promotions, and gets upset when he makes a mistake with someone's order. The most significant difference is that Plankton makes him his co-cashier and an employee.

Relations.

Squidward: Squidward is their neighbor, as mentioned before. Although many things SpongeBob says are absurd, Squidward rarely tries to help them. For example, when the Krusty Krab was selling hot dogs, he played a particularly mean prank on SpongeBob, laughing hysterically at his friend hitting himself all over the place. Customers left upset, and he apologized hours later, confessing that he loved hearing SpongeBob laugh and being with him. SpongeBob returned the favor, proving that many had heard his confession. Another instance is when Sandy told SpongeBob about Christmas, since sea creatures don't know anything about it. When SpongeBob managed to convince everyone that there would be presents, they were all disappointed. Squidward did nothing but mock him until SpongeBob gave him a clarinet he had made himself. Unable to help feeling bad for his friend, Squidward pretended to be Santa Claus to make SpongeBob happy and said; “Sure, SpongeBob, but I didn’t bring Christmas to Bikini Bottom… You did…” (One of the most touching moments.) Another time was when they went to deliver a pizza, taking too long and a lot of effort to get there, and when they arrived, the customer cruelly refused it because he didn’t have a drink. Squidward, seeing SpongeBob crying uncontrollably, got angry and approached the customer. The customer, standing at his front door, said, “I already told you! I’m not paying for that pizza!” Squidward said, “Well, this one’s on the house!” and hit him in the face, showing that even though he couldn’t stand it, he would be capable of hitting anyone to defend his friend.

Relationships. (2)

Patrick Star: Patrick is SpongeBob's best friend since school. He loves and supports him a lot. He's quite dim-witted and has trouble thinking for himself, often taking a long time to ask for orders, even though Squidward calls them "a couple of dummy geezers." He lives under a rock next to Squidward and near SpongeBob. He's a pink starfish and wears only light green shorts with purple flower markings, which innocently annoy Squidward. Sometimes, when Patrick closes his eyes, you can see that the skin around his eyes is purple. He's chubby and can be incredibly stupid and innocent. He has small spots on his body, especially on his stomach. Although he can often be selfish and called slow, he can also be very intelligent at times. He has always been SpongeBob's best friend.

Eugene Krabs: Better known as Mr. Krabs, he is the boss of Squidward and SpongeBob SquarePants, and he is an extremely stingy crab. He is a tall, stocky, red crab with a wrinkled nose, large claws, and very short, pointy legs. His vertebrae are also visible on the back of his neck. He wears a light blue shirt and loafers with a black belt. He is Squidward and SpongeBob's boss and has a rivalry with Sheldon J. Plankton, as he works directly across from him. He is simply a selfish boss to Squidward, although Squidward himself considers his life mediocre, wasting it at the Krusty Krab.

Relationships. (3)

Sandy Cheeks: Sandy is a land squirrel who lives under a dome at the bottom of the sea, something like an Earth simulator where she can live as if she were on the surface. She is one of SpongeBob's best friends and always wears an astronaut-like suit. She has a personality similar to a country girl and cowgirl, with a "Yeehaw!" She says she's at the bottom of the sea to study marine creatures. When entering her home, Squidward, SpongeBob, and Patrick must wear helmets filled with water to avoid dying from lack of oxygen.

Mrs. Puff: Mrs. Puff is a driving instructor who has emotional and mental problems, especially from having to put up with SpongeBob SquarePants. Although he wants his driver's license, he doesn't know anything about boats and simply struggles to learn or freezes up during lessons. On the other hand, she was also the one who taught Squidward to drive, and he's considered a good driver. Being a pufferfish, she inflates when she feels scared or overwhelmed, and she wears a red skirt with a blue vest and a small blonde hairstyle.

Jim: Jim is one of the original cooks before SpongeBob who knew everything about the Krusty Krab. He wanted to start his own business with Squidward, but noticing no enthusiasm from either of them, he simply left the restaurant due to the very low pay. Some time later, SpongeBob arrived as a cook.

Flying Dutchman: The Flying Dutchman has rarely interacted with SpongeBob, other than scaring him once in his home. He's basically the soul of a pirate, but green, who once traded SpongeBob to Mr. Krabs for a few measly cents. Squidward tells him, "Look, Mr. Krabs, you should be ashamed of yourself. He defended you, and you betrayed him." This is when Mr. Krabs regretted it and wanted SpongeBob back, until the Dutchman returned him because of how annoying SpongeBob can be.

Relationships. (4)

Squidward: She is Squidward's potential romantic interest, and like the other octopuses, they are quite similar, with the most common thing they have in common being that they hate fools.

Sheldon J. Plankton: Plankton is Mr. Krabs's biggest rival because he dreams of stealing his secret formula. He only has one eye and is usually overly competitive and evil. He only became friends with Squidward once, and the other time was solely to find out if he had the secret formula, something similar to what he did with SpongeBob. He has a computer wife named Karen.

Pearl Krabs: Pearl is Mr. Krabs' adopted daughter. Pearl is a whale with blonde hair tied in a constant ponytail, large blue eyes, and a large, rectangular head. She usually wears a pink shirt with a dark pink letter P, which stands for pearl, as well as a dark pink skirt and white boots. Pearl's personality is that of the archetypal teenager. She is popular at school and enjoys hanging out with other people like her, shopping at the mall, talking about "who likes what," and maintaining a good reputation at school.

Gary the Snail: Gary is SpongeBob's pet snail. He has bulging green eyes with black pupils and red lines, is incredibly intelligent, and can only say "Meow," although SpongeBob often manages to understand him. He drips snail slime when he crawls, and his shell is flesh-colored with six dark blue spots and a red line down the middle shaped like a bow.
