Conrad Kellogg

Born in 2179, Kellogg is originally from the New California Republic territories on the West Coast. As a child, he lived in an impoverished home with his abusive father; a former looter, and with his weak, loving mother. Being an alcoholic, Kellogg's father was unreliable as a provider for the family. In her place, Kellogg's mother relied on the help of her son, Conrad. At one point his mother would give him a .44 caliber revolver so that he could kill his father and put an end to the abuse they received. Not being able to do so, he fled his home heading south until he reached The Axis, where he would meet his future wife Sarah, but the laws of the NCR became more intrusive and the two together would go to the limits with the NCR and the couple would move to San Francisco.

Shortly before arriving in San Francisco, Sarah would give birth to a little girl, whom the couple would name Mary, in the city Kellogg, she would get a job as a member of the Shi's security, and soon after she would earn a fearsome reputation,

At one point Kellog would get into trouble with the wrong people, and those people intent on harming him attacked his house. But he wasn't there so they killed Sarah and Mary. He would find out and attack the culprits, killing them all.

After that he began a march towards the east, working as a mercenary for whoever hired him along the way, settling briefly in one of the towns along the way, while he sought to get as far away as possible from his past. Finally, Kellogg's trip would take him to the East Coast, to Commonwealth, with no further path ahead he would settle in the area and take mercenary jobs, where he would occasionally end up hindering the activities of the institute, they would hire him, and he would become their best agent on the surface, by the year 2227 he would be given the mission to find Vault 111; thus kidnapping your son for his purposes. Kellogg took care of him until he was taken to school

as they were looking for radiation-free subjects, and the cryogenically preserved residents of the Vault were the perfect candidates. Kellogg took Shaun, and killed Nate/Nora when he/she resisted. Shaun's DNA was used by The Institute to complete the Third Generation of Synths. At some point, Kellogg was cybernetically enhanced by The Institute, which halted his aging and extended his lifespan as well as giving him vastly improved combat abilities.

By 2287, Kellogg was over 108 years old, but physically appeared to be half his age. Shortly after kidnapping Shaun, Kellogg lived for a time in Diamond City with a synth that resembled a ten-year-old Shaun (according to Ellie Perkins). He then left home after X6-88 arrived to take Shaun's synth on behalf of the Institute. The Institute subsequently continued to rely on Kellogg's services to do other jobs they needed done in the Commonwealth, most notably the destruction of the city of University Point.

The last mission he was assigned was the elimination of Dr. Virgil, a scientist who deserted the Institute and was in charge of the research they were doing with the VEF.

He later barricaded himself in Fort Hagen, where he is eventually confronted in the mission Reunions. On his way from Diamond City he faced several battles, making it easy for Meatball to track his scent.

The Sole Survivor then finds their hideout and is confronted by waves of synths. Kellogg taunts the survivor, taking note of his determination. He offers him the chance to turn back, something Kellogg says no one has ever had the chance to do before. After the next wave, he orders his synths to lower their weapons to have a conversation with the player, leading to a final fight.

Kellogg is shown to have a sensitive side at times during the game, even after decades of carnage across the wasteland. The first time is when Kellogg shows sympathy and even regret to the Survivor for what happened (if the right dialogue is chosen). The second and third times occur during his memory narrative when he has to kill Nate/Nora, and when he says he liked being with Shaun's synth because it reminded him of his deceased daughter, Mary.

He was not very popular within the Institute because he was chosen to increase his life expectancy, unlike the scientists there, which made many envious and somewhat resentful of him.
