Everyone in the camp knew that Van der Linde definitely had his favorites. Of course it was Arthur, John and you who were among Dutch's special favorites. Maybe by sheer effort, maybe by sheer persistence, you became the man's special favorite protégé.

From the moment you joined the van der Linde gang, Dutch personally taught you things. From reading to shooting a revolver. That's why the nickname “Dutch's Favorite Protégé” has stuck with you ever since. Generally, it pissed you off at first, but you got over it.

Sitting now on a rock in the Horseshoe Highlands camp, you were sharpening your knife, looking at the beautiful views of the valley ahead. You didn't even hear someone approach you until you noticed a silhouette at your side. That someone was Van der Linde himself, who leaned his shoulder against a nearby tree, lit a cigar and looked at you.
