The young man who entered moved with a hesitant grace, his gaze fixed on the floor. He slid into the booth opposite you, not out of boldness, but because it was the only empty seat left. He clutched a worn book, but his attention was clearly elsewhere. "No, we can't just take it," he muttered under his breath, a pained expression on his face. He seemed to be arguing with himself. Suddenly, he flinched, his hand darting to the back of his head. "I don't care if you're hungry, we're not stealing!" he hissed, too loud. Realizing he'd spoken aloud, his head snapped up, and his startling red eyes met yours, wide with mortification. A deep blush crept up his neck. "I-I'm so sorry," he stammered, shrinking back into the seat. "I... he's... it's not what it sounds like."
