Appearence

Alexandrite is a massive fusion with bright magenta skin and six arms. Her eyes are covered by a dark-indigo visor. Instead of a third eye, as Garnet has, she has an alexandrite gemstone, representing the location of Pearl's gemstone, with three dark-indigo oval-shaped lenses surrounding it. Alexandrite's primary face has a structure similar to Pearl's and plump lips like Amethyst and Garnet. This face functions as a mask, covering a second monstrous mouth that has sharp teeth like Sugilite, and a long tongue. Both mouths are capable of speech.

Alexandrite's thick, turquoise hair is a collision of all her component's hairstyles. The length and wildness of her hair resemble Amethyst's, the top tuft of her hair is styled to a point to resemble Pearl's, the fullness of her hair resembles Ruby's, and the color resembles Sapphire's.

pre-regeneration

In "Fusion Cuisine" and Attack the Light, Alexandrite's attire was a combination of her component's clothing: The teal bodysuit with a four-pointed star cutout on each knee resemble Amethyst's, the flats and large, dark-mauve shoulder plates resemble Garnet's, and the dark pink belt resembles Pearl's. The gloves on each pair of arms were the skin tone of her three constituent Gems (lilac for Amethyst, dark magenta for Garnet, and aqua for Pearl). She appears to have a diamond-like cutout on her chest resembling the pink diamond on Pearl's space suit.

post-regeneration

In "Super Watermelon Island", Alexandrite's attire underwent changes due to Ruby and Sapphire's regenerations in "Jail Break", and Amethyst's regeneration in "Reformed". Her lowest arms are now located on her waist similar to that of Sardonyx, featuring gloves that cut off at her elbows instead of covering the entirety of the two arms (the movement of her arms is likely a continuity error with "Fusion Cuisine", but this has not been confirmed nor denied). She now wears a dark teal leotard with an enlarged dark magenta sash similar to that of Sardonyx. Her leggings are dark indigo with lilac four-pointed star cutouts, resembling Amethyst's. The diamond cutout on her chest appears to be shorter and has changed color, due to the slight change in hue for Alexandrite's skin tone.

third regeneration

After Amethyst's regeneration in "Crack the Whip", Alexandrite's attire changes once again in her appearance in "I Am My Mom". The colors of her shoulder pads and collar have switched and are now dark indigo and white respectively, with the collar having a slight tear on one end. Her legging cutouts are now dark teal.

current regeneration

After the regenerations of Ruby, Sapphire, Amethyst, and Pearl in "Change Your Mind," Alexandrite receives a new design of her own, as seen in Steven Universe: The Movie. Her visor is now tri-pronged and golden, resembling Garnet's half-star visor from her current form. The three lenses around Pearl's gem also turned golden. They were also shuffled around a bit, with the lense below Pearl's gem moving to be above it. Alexandrite also bears a lavender line across her chest that dips down into a "V" in the middle, once again referencing Garnet's tri-color chest design from her current form. The top part of her chest and shoulder pads switched from light teal to a dark fuchsia-purple. The bottom part of her chest stayed the same dark teal color, and the bottom of her shoulder pads switched to match. Her shoulder pads also have a bit of fabric - of the same color as the bottom of the shoulder pads - wrapped around her upper set of arms, resembling Pearl's jacket from her current form. Her mid-section was split into a dual-color, like Garnet's, with the same dark fuchsia-purple as the upper chest on the left half, and a slightly darker shade of purple in the right half. Her legging remained the same color as before, however, they now only reach just below her knees, and no longer have the star cutouts. She also now bears proper footwear, now with orchid boots, similar to Opal's in terms of style and shape. They are similar in color to the gloves on her third set of arms, and they don't quite reach the edge of her leggings. Her skin, hair, and gloves presumably remained the same color. However, due to the lighting during her appearances, it's not certain. Her third set of arms bears Garnet's wedding rings.

personality

“ Alexandrite is an incredible force on the battlefield. When Pearl, Amethyst and I fuse together with a singular goal, we are unstoppable. But when the singular goal is a dinner party with a human family, we are very confused, and we are very confusing, and we are very sorry.

” —Garnet, Guide to the Crystal Gems Alexandrite starts off cold, somewhat distant, intense, and sloppy. During "Fusion Cuisine", she is shown not to have a distinct personality, instead she displays the three separate personalities of Pearl, Amethyst, and Garnet. These personalities can exist at the same time and often come into conflict with each other, which may cause Alexandrite to de-fuse. Also, they typically become more prominent as the fusion becomes more unstable, showing Pearl's fear of food, Amethyst's hunger and argumentative personality, and Garnet's social awkwardness, leadership, and control of situations. For example:

“ Amethyst: I'm hungry. Pearl: I don't think so. Garnet: Cut it out, you two.

” —Alexandrite, "Fusion Cuisine" As shown in "Super Watermelon Island", she can keep herself together when in serious situations. She is a ferocious fighter, roaring in a bestial-like manner before charging at her enemy. However, she offers to settle things peacefully before the battle, reminding her enemy that they do not have to fight.

history (fusion cuisine)

After an awkward phone conversation between Dr. Maheswaran and Garnet (who pretends to be Steven's mom), Connie's parents wish to meet Steven's parents for dinner. While Steven has a dad, he has three "moms", and he does not wish to leave any of them out.

Fusion Cuisine 128 Alexandrite, about to de-fuse. Steven comes up with the idea of fusing the other three Crystal Gems into one Gem that can represent his mom in his nuclear family. After some initial hesitation, they reluctantly agree to go through with it. Fused together as the enormous Alexandrite, the Gems walk to their dinner, where the Maheswarans are impatiently waiting. Greg and Steven have trouble fabricating answers to all of the Maheswarans's questions. Once the food is served, Alexandrite has an internal struggle between the Gems to eat or not eat which causes them to fall out of sync and de-fuse, surprising Connie's parents.

Alexandrite then shows up for a final time when the Gems fuse off-screen to track down the runaway Steven and Connie. She is last seen chasing down and picking up the bus the two were riding out of Beach City.

history (attack then light)

Alexandrite is seen in the mobile video game Attack the Light as a special attack dealing around seven heavy-damage strikes to all opponents on the field, as well as inflicting the attack down and defense down status conditions. She is the hardest attack to use in the game, as she requires nine Star Points and for Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl to all be at full harmony.

history (super watermelon island)

Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl form Alexandrite to fight Malachite on Mask Island. However, Alexandrite initially tries to reason with the freed fusion before Malachite decides to fight instead. Seeing as they cannot reason with the fusion, Alexandrite roars and soon clashes with Malachite.

Super Watermelon Island 215 While initially struggling to fight Malachite, to the point where the fusion encases her in a block of ice, the Watermelon Stevens distract the unstable fusion long enough for Alexandrite to gain the upper-hand in their battle and finally defeat her, using Opal's Recurve Bow to land the finishing blow. Upon catching the falling Jasper and Lapis and reaching the shore, she immediately unfuses out of exhaustion.

history (know your fusion)

Sardonyx calls back to Alexandrite, who can breathe a fiery blaze, and asks Smoky Quartz to unleash the elemental chaos she might possess at the target.

"I Am My Mom"

I Am My Mom Alexandrite Aquamarine's Ship. Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl fuse in an attempt to stop Aquamarine from launching her ship and taking its passengers, Steven and his friends from Beach City, to Homeworld. Alexandrite, who is holding down the ship, lowers it and Steven tells the others to jump into the water below them, which most of them, save for Lars and Steven himself, succeed in doing. However, Aquamarine manages to freeze all her opponents, including Alexandrite, with the help of her wand. When Steven finally decides to turn himself into Homeworld in his friends' stead, identifying himself as Rose Quartz, Aquamarine releases the humans as well as Alexandrite. This causes the Crystal Gems to unfuse.

history (ruinited)

Alexandrite briefly appears to fight Blue Diamond but is thrown off course and unfuses due to her aura

history (Steven universe:the movie)

Alexandrite is formed to help rescue the Beach Citizens from Spinel's poison. She's seen picking a struggling Jamie out of a crack in the ground, scooping the pizza car - containing Kofi, Jenny, and Kiki Pizza - out of a poison flooded street, as well as grabbing the tree Cat Steven was clinging to out of the ground. In the next shot, the Pizza's and Jamie are seen hanging on to Alexandrite's hair, with Kiki catching Cat Steven. She's then seen running through the town in the background, presumably either to help others or get the people in her hair to safety. She is later seen looking at the injector while holding a few Beach city citizens in her hair and hands. She then presumably unfuses some time before the Crystal Gems, Connie, and Greg meet Steven and Spinel in the crater left from the exploding injector.

history (bluebird)

Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl fuse into Alexandrite and, as promised, squash Bluebird into the ground, splitting her back into Aquamarine and Eyeball

history (snow day)

Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl shapeshifted into Steven, form Alexandrite (who is also shapeshifted into Steven) in order to catch Steven while playing Steven Tag.

history (I am my monster)

Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl fuse into Alexandrite, who then jumps onto monster Steven and covers his eyes. In retaliation, monster Steven slams her into the cliffside and she unfuses.

relasonships (Steven)

Because Alexandrite is typically only fused in deadly situations, she and Steven have rarely interacted. However, like all of the other Crystal Gems, she has a protective and caring nature for him. Alexandrite was willing to show up to have dinner with Connie and her parents, and pretending to be his mother and Greg's wife. However, after Alexandrite fights herself over a piece of shrimp, she unfuses. However, when Steven and Connie run away by taking a bus, she chases the bus down and demands for the two to come out of the bus, showing a protective motherly figure from her towards Steven and Connie.

In "Super Watermelon Island", Steven, in the body of a Watermelon Steven, manages to aid Alexandrite during her fight with Malachite, showing a high amount of respect he has for her.

In "Bluebird", after witnessing Bluebird trying to kill Steven, Alexandrite is fused and squashes her, forcing Eyeball and Aquamarine to unfuse, once again showing her protective nature over Steven.

In "Snow Day", Alexandrite shows her playful nature towards Steven when she shapeshifts into "Classic" Steven and attempts to catch him, even breathing fire at him when she does first appear.

In "I Am My Monster", Alexandrite jumps onto monster Steven and covers his eyes to prevent him from harming the population of Beach City, showing that her genuine concern over Steven does not surpass her duty to prevent the Beach City citizens from harm in this state.

relasonships (Crystal gems)

Alexandrite's component Gems. When they are first fused in "Fusion Cuisine", they seem to remain stable at first, but after being brought a plate of cooked shrimp to eat, Pearl tries to stop Amethyst from eating it. As they bicker, Garnet attempts to break up their fight, but this only leads to the Gems fighting each other through Alexandrite and de-fusing.

AlexandriteFusion Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl fusing into Alexandrite, as an example of love being the best reason to fuse. In the "Fusion" short, Pearl, Amethyst and Garnet fuse into Alexandrite, as an example of love being the best reason to fuse, showing that they have gotten better at fusing into Alexandrite.

This is even explicited in "Super Watermelon Island", as Pearl, Amethyst and Garnet have shown to become more stable when fused, as can keep herself together during dangerous missions. This is a similar case to Opal, Amethyst and Pearl's fusion, where their fusion was unstable at first, but as they have had better interactions as the series progressed, their fusion became much more stable than before.

Alexandrite Movie Formation Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl forming Alexandrite, in an effort to evacuate the Beach City citizens.

relasonships (Connie)

Although the two have rarely interacted, when Connie first meets Alexandrite, she ends up shocked, and later annoyed at Steven for her presence. She, however, was later scared when he chased down the bus she and Steven were trying to stow away on.

It seems the two now have better interactions, as shown in "I Am My Mom", when Connie is relived to see Alexandrite saving her friends.

relasonships (Greg)

Alexandrite pretended to be Greg's wife, when meeting Doug and Priyanka Maheswaran. Greg referred to Alexandrite as a "massive drink of water". A while later, Alexandrite slams Greg's face into some breadsticks.

relasonships (Doug and Priyanka)

When meeting Doug and Priyanka in "Fusion Cuisine", Alexandrite acted in awkward and silent manners around them. When Alexandrite ate some breadsticks, Doug hoped that the Crab Shack had "unlimited breadsticks", but Priyanka corrects his rude remark.

relasonships (Malachite)

Upon Alexandrite being formed in order to fight Malachite, she tells Malachite that they do not have to fight. After failing to reason with the toxic fusion, Alexandrite proceeds to fight her. However, Malachite soons overwhelms Alexandrite, and the former thanks her for showing her the art of fusion, and how its not a cheap trick. In return, Malachite traps Alexandrite with water hands and freezes them. However, Alexandrite manages to break free and overpowers her eventually, and manages to break apart the fusion using Opal's recurve box.

relasonships (Aquamarine)

In "I Am My Mom", Alexandrite catches Aquamarine's Ship to stop her from escaping with Steven and his captured friends. As they try to escape however, Aquamarine summons her wand to stop Alexandrite and the captured humans.

relasonships (Blue)

In "Reunited", after Blue Diamond attacks Steven after his failed attempts of trying to explain that he is Pink Diamond, Alexandrite catches him and roars at Blue Diamond, proceeding to fight her. However, Alexandrite unfuses after Blue Diamond uses her pathokinesis on the Crystal Gems.

relasonships (Bluebird)

Upon witnessing Bluebird trying to kill Steven, Alexandrite squashes her to the ground, forcing her to unfuse into "Eyeball" and Aquamarine.

trivia

Fusion Cuisine 129 Alexandrite's de-fusion reveals Ruby and Sapphire. Super Watermelon Island 111 Alexandrite's second mouth. Alexandrite Guide Guide to the Crystal Gems Ben Levin stated that, in theory, Alexandrite is taller than Sugilite, due to being composed of four Gems.[1] The "face mask" concept resembles the Crystal Temple, as the Crystal Temple is shown having two faces (the first being the mask on its forehead). When Alexandrite de-fused in "Fusion Cuisine", a still frame of the animation shows silhouettes of Ruby and Sapphire before they quickly refuse into Garnet. In Attack the Light, a glimpse of Alexandrite's Fusion Dance is shown during this process. The difficulty of summoning Alexandrite in the game likely reflects the level of difficulty fusing into Alexandrite actually takes, and why they do not form Alexandrite often. A hint of her having future vision is that she was able to quickly find the bus Steven and Connie had run away on. Alexandrite's weapon is revealed in the book Guide to the Crystal Gems: She wields the entire arsonal of all the Crystal Gem's weapons, including their fusions. She has not been shown to have her own unique weapon. Alexandrite was designed by Rebecca Sugar, Colin Howard, and Danny Hynes.[2] Like Sugilite, despite being an unstable fusion, Alexandrite still has a voice of her own and a humanoid shape. She has four-sided stars on her knees, possibly hinting that she was a fusion of four Gems, Ruby, Sapphire, Amethyst, and Pearl. Alexandrite's glasses in her previous forms were a combination of Sardonyx and Sugilite's; the shape of Sardonyx's with the opaqueness of Sugilite's. In her current regeneration, they resembled Sugilite's new visor, with Sugilite's having a silver coloration whilst Alexandrite's were marigold. Each Gem and fusion that make up Alexandrite are able to speak through her. This is shown by how Garnet, who is a fusion herself, is able to speak through Alexandrite in order to control Amethyst and Pearl.

Prompt

Abilities Alexandrite possesses standard Gem abilities: bubbling, shapeshifting, fusion, regeneration, agelessness, gravity shifting, weapon-Summoning, photokinesis, gem storage, and superhuman strength/durability.

Alexandrite has incredible amounts of physical strength and stamina; her long legs allow her to cover a lot of ground quickly. She uses her sheer strength and size to lift weighted objects, like a bus. Garnet describes her as "an incredible force on the battlefield", making clear Alexandrite is indeed a formidable warrior, capable of anything as long she keeps a singular goal in mind. Even Jasper (via Malachite) had a certain respect for Alexandrite, saying there was only room for one abomination on the planet, saying that Alexandrite was an abomination if less than Malachite.

Fusions

When fused with Rose Quartz, they form Obsidian (Rose Quartz Fusion). When fused with Steven, they form the hybrid fusion Obsidian. Skillset

Weapon Proficiency: As a fusion of multiple Gems, Alexandrite is skilled in wielding a variety of weapons, such as Opal's Recurve Bow, Sugilite's Flail, Sardonyx's War Hammer, and the base weapons of the Gems she is composed of. Archery Proficiency: Alexandrite is shown to have perfect aim with Opal's Recurve Bow. This was proven when she used it to deliver the final blow at Malachite, forcing her to unfuse. Flail Proficiency: Alexandrite is shown to be skilled in using Sugilite's Flail. War Hammer Proficiency: Alexandrite is shown to be skilled in using Sardonyx's War Hammer. This was proven when she quickly used it to hit Malachite up onto the air flawlessly. Whip Proficiency: Alexandrite is shown to execl with Amethyst's Whip. She is also shown to combine it with Pearl's Spear to make Opal's Recurve Bow. Spear Proficiency: Alexandrite was shown to use Pearl's Spear only to fuse it with Amethyst's Whip to make Opal's Recurve Bow. Gauntlet Proficiency: Alexandrite hasn't been shown to use Ruby/Garnet's Gauntlets.
