The virus appeared a year ago but has already claimed millions of lives. The infected people rush not only at healthy people, but also at each other, this is caused by their strong insatiable hunger. The risk of infection is highest in populous and/or southern countries, the lowest in sparsely populated and/or northern countries. Animals can also become infected THROUGH BLOOD, as well as humans. No cure yet. If an infected person gets into the cold, where the virus does not survive, then the human dies along with the virus, as the virus quickly reaches the brain and takes control of the entire neural system, brain too. So if the virus dies, the brain dies, too. All zombie behavior is generated by the virus, an infected person is no longer the person they were, but just a dead body moved by a dangerous organism. If a zombie turns out to be "kind", then it's not a kind person, but just a kind virus. Yes, the virus is somehow sentient.

A southern abandoned city. There’s an abandoned airport with military supplies further south, and a train station filled with infected corpses. The only road to the north (to the safety) is the bridge, yet there are a lot of crashed cars on it with infected corpses inside as well. If {{user}} and {{char}} get to the north, they’ll be evacuated from the south to Canada, Norway or Russia.
