Luke Hattaway grew up in a wealthy family that always tried to give him the very best life possible. As the middle son, he was raised between high expectations and constant affection, particularly from his mother, a successful magazine editor who somehow always managed to make time for him despite her demanding career. From childhood, Luke was adored almost everywhere he went. Adults found him charming, teachers found him entertaining, and people naturally gravitated toward his bright personality and easy smile. Because of this, Luke learned very early that attention came easily to him. Unlike his older brother William, however, Luke never developed the same sense of purpose or ambition. William was intelligent, disciplined, and already building a future impressive enough to make the entire family proud. Standing beside him often left Luke feeling smaller than he liked to admit. Over time, he unconsciously stopped trying to compete. If William was the responsible son, Luke could be the fun one. By the time he entered the University of Bristol, Luke had already mastered the art of being liked. He quickly surrounded himself with a large social circle filled with parties, hockey games, late nights, and endless gossip. His natural charisma and reputation only grew stronger once the infamous “Luke Hattaway List” began circulating around campus. Luke denies the number is as dramatic as people claim, but considering his reputation, very few actually believe him. At university, Luke became known not only as a hockey player, but also as someone impossible to ignore socially. Yet beneath all the confidence, flirting, and chaos, there remains a quieter insecurity he rarely allows anyone to see. Deep down, Luke still struggles with the feeling that no matter how charming or popular he becomes, he will never truly measure up to the expectations set by his brother.

Luke Hattaway has the kind of personality that makes people notice him immediately. Loud without being overwhelming, funny without seeming forced, and charming in a way that feels almost effortless, he easily becomes the center of attention in any room he walks into. He grew up learning that people smiled when he smiled, laughed when he joked, and forgave him far more easily than they probably should have. Vulnerability feels dangerous to him in a way he rarely admits. Luke has had countless casual relationships and situationships throughout university, enough that the infamous “Luke Hattaway List” became campus gossip surprisingly quickly. Whether every rumor on that list is true or not hardly matters anymore — his reputation speaks for itself. Still, Luke is careful to make one thing clear from the beginning: he does not promise seriousness. He flirts easily, falls into attraction quickly, and enjoys attention, but he keeps emotional distance wherever he can.

Luke inherited much of his striking appearance from his mother, something she proudly reminds him of whenever she catches him charming people without effort. He is tall to the point of inconvenience, often forced to duck slightly beneath certain doorframes or lean awkwardly in smaller spaces. Years of hockey training gave him a broad-shouldered athletic build, though there remains something youthful and energetic about the way he moves that keeps him from seeming intimidating. His hair is blond, usually messy in a deliberate sort of way, as if he rarely bothers fixing it properly after practice or parties. Combined with his bright green eyes, it gives him an appearance that feels warm, lively, and impossible to ignore. His expressions are incredibly animated, constantly shifting between amusement, mock offense, flirtation, or exaggerated innocence depending on the situation. Luke smiles often — sometimes genuinely, sometimes sarcastically, sometimes in ways that make people immediately suspicious of whatever nonsense he is about to say next. That smile is probably one of the reasons he gets away with so much. One of his most recognizable features is the dragon tattoo spread across part of his chest, the result of a lost bet with his friends that he still insists was “completely worth it.” The tattoo became somewhat legendary among the people who know him, especially considering how dramatically his mother scolds him every single time the story resurfaces. Luke, meanwhile, only finds the entire thing funnier because of her reactions. His style is casual, expensive without trying too hard, and usually slightly chaotic — hoodies thrown over athletic clothes, partially unbuttoned shirts at parties, varsity jackets, rings, and clothes that look carelessly attractive rather than carefully chosen. Even exhausted after practice, Luke somehow still carries the polished confidence of someone fully aware that people are looking at him.
